most folks who can throw 100 mph or more have no idea where it is going. He can pinpoint it, he is a rare breed of pitcher.
Bro is probably the most consistent pitcher I've seen
He’s a major league arm pitching in the SEC! Pure dominance!
if this guy is throwing 101 as his 123rd pitch, wtf is his max velo
102 mph
@@jasonmccullah9380 He hit 103 once or twice this year. But yeah, 102 is his upper limit. for the most part.
In mlb he’ll probably throw 97
@@santaclause3487he hit 102 in his spring training debut
He’s touched 103 on a few occasions, but 101 is pretty much where he tops out at for the most part. This specific game isn’t really his norm. Skenes Fastball is usually between 97-99, but of course he regularly touches 100+. What makes Skenes a hard pitcher to hit is his off speeds and breaking balls. His Slider is disgusting.
He threw 38 100+ mph fastballs.
46**
the clipped together bits from the commentators tell an unhinged story.
Best pitching prospect since Stephen Strasburg. Likely going to the Nationals ironically enough at #2 overall.
Pirates at #1
And he will be a sore armed pitcher like Strasburg who never fully reached his potential..he has a weird 3/4 sidearm delivery and will cause elbow issues without question
@@mitchelll3879I was thinking the same thing
@@mitchelll3879he’s definitely going to have injuries and miss years. It’ll be fun when he’s called up though.
@@mitchelll3879 i dont think so. strasburg was a twig this guy is a big dude
Hey this guy is pretty good. I bet he’ll have a shot in the big leagues
Haha try all stars as a rookie and could potentially start
Couple of those punch outs the ump gave him 😅
But! Still the best prospect I’ve seen out of college by far, and earned the win
he's gonna be a legend in the mlb
The movement on the fastball is super impressive especially at 100+ mph
He throws 100mph so effortlessly, and the control of those 100+mph fastball ,also with nasty slider and change-up.
I think he's the very best college pitcher of all time, even better than Stephen Strasburg and Mark Prior.
115th pitch at 100 mph is insane
How about pitching a ball at 100mph without bending your arm
The gift of youth
That cut fastball is nasty.
Dude is an absolute superstar in his 2nd start
Paul looks like he’s been playing in the MLB for 10 years , dude looks 40.
Most dominant pitcher I’ve ever seen at LSU, which includes Ben McDonald and Mike Sirotka.
0:34 This pitch is a whiffle ball. Just filthy 🤮
Congratulations Pittsburgh Pirates. Yahoo !!!!
He did this shit effortlessly
Reminds me a lot of Verlander!
College level, good luck hitting that! Boys had some good hacks at him though...
Skenes is a cyborg
Welcome to the burgh paul skenes cant wait to see you dominate the majors
The look on the hitters faces tells the story….
Skenes looks as if he is a 32 year old big leaguer throwing against 12 year old Little leaguers. Great arm and terrific stuff, but...are we sure this guy is clean?
His arm delivery is an issue..yea, he has great stuff..will win a few games..but undoubtedly will have elbow issues..weird delivery.. sorry, don't care what Ben McDonald said about him being a #1 pitcher within 1-2 years..the guy will blow out an elbow.. throws that hard, 3/4 delivery..be like Strasburg, good not great
@@mitchelll3879who TF are you ? Tommy Lasorda?
It looks effortless too. That’s when you know a guy is gassing. Some guys you can see muscling up. He’s effortless
I do not agree guys. Nolan Ryan and Justin Verlander (righties) are the only straight fastball pitchers who have survived the years. It is very rare that guys like this last more than 5 years. I hope he does, but it is unlikely.
1:10 He looks like Mike Muir from the Suicidal Tendencies 😄
What was this strike zone?
Welcome to the pirates save us please
Similar to JV… Pittsburgh better hang on to this one! Bad history with letting Cy-Young talent walk thru the door…
Reminds me of Dave Stieb
I'm your huckleberry!
Funny how the best pitchers in the country are from socal
His nickname is 'Shorty'.
Nolan Ryan reincarnated!
If the Pirates develop him right, he’s probably going to be like Rollie Fingers (he already has the mustache) or Randy Johnson. He has Johnsons’ height. The problem with the Pirates is that they have trouble developing players.
They don’t develop players according to what they specialize in. It’s as if they deliberately sabotage any player that comes through their organization, so that they perform poorly, which gives the Pirates an excuse not to pay them. Guys like Gerrit Cole left the Pittsburgh pirates, and performed so well with the Yankees that he received a $100 million dollar contract. Bryan Bullington was the best hitter in college baseball, but the Pirates decided that they wanted him to be a pitcher which didn’t make any sense. I realize that these people working for the Pirates aren’t the same people that were working for the Pirates when Kevin McClatchey was the owner, but there’s still a problem there. When they do spend money, it’s usually on bad players. That tells me there’s incompetency in that organization as well. Hopefully, they can turn it around with the new group of people that they have there. They did make the playoffs a couple years ago.
Skenes you are a Texas ranger!🫵
He won’t make it past the first 3 picks lol
@@noah.conley Texas picks at 4. There’s a chance he’s still there. Pirates usually go under slot.
@@samuelpatton5148 it’s widely known right now that the nationals love Skenes and have 3 top outfield prospects already in their system… he is going to the Nationals… this ain’t like when Jack Leiter fell Skenes is a generational pitching prospect
Pirates might take him #1.
@@luckyluda2112 I wouldn’t mind that either, I just want Wyatt Langford or Dylan Crews going to my tigers
이형 ㅈㄴ 대물이네 ㄷㄷㄷ
Any injury history? Christ was that 15 pitches over 100?
I’m not trying to hate but the way he throws the ball is sketchy. Mind you he’s massive but I can see arm injuries down the road with those pitching mechanics.
paulie is really dominating right now, cant wait to see him in the majors
from the future he is great
As unhittable as it gets.
Geaux Livvy's Boyfriend 😊
hes using sticky stuff. look at how he rubs his belt after every batter.
Could just be a tick but it is strange
You think he’s throwing 102 with sticky stuff on his hand? 🤡
@@drewsutton9792Just to chime in: I doubt he's using sticky stuff but yes, pitchers have used sticky stuff and hit 102 lol
Using sticky at the CWS? Man you guys are dumb
Why dont umps check college pitchers? Definitely fishy to be playing with your belt for every batter.
Maybe if he was throwing big curves n stuff, he’s throwing 102 heaters, sticky stuff would make that worse
Pitchers are weird. And he's throwing hard, that ish moves.
They do check college pitchers. He’s obviously not cheating. Gain some brain cells
Pennant? World Series? Here we come! Let’s go Bucs! LMFAO 🤣 🤦♂️
That arm motion looks like it hurts,
Strausburg sort of
Astonishing. Hope the Cardinals get him.
He’s not falling past the Nationals at 2nd overall and at this point I wouldn’t be shocked if the Pirates take him at #1
@@xJohnny_Ax he’s falling to the rangers at number 4 😫
He's a nat
Not if the Pirates take him first. 😎
Forget about that 100+ mph fastball. Did you get a look at that stache. That thing is ooozing machismo.
I went to same High school as Paul
If you threw me those meat balls I would absolutely take that ball yardo
And if coach had played you in the 4th quarter you guys would have been state champs no doubt!
@@BirdGang6 I played in the 4th qtr. We were 3X state champs. All league
you're riding pine after those pitches buddy
Watch him just be a total bust 😂
Old takes exposed
The ladies don't call him "Skeet Skeet Skenes" for nothing!
