    Today we’re showing off the differences between the Echo CS-590 Timberwolf, CS-620P and the Husqvarna 455 / 460 Rancher chainsaws. The Husqvarna 455 / 460 and the Echo CS-590 are well known farm and ranch style firewood chainsaws and have proven to be powerful and reliable machines to help heat your home and maintain your property. We think they are great saws, but there are some reasons why we consistently recommend the Echo CS-620P chainsaw to our customers.
    The Echo CS-620P is a very powerful chainsaw, comes with a 5 year consumer warranty and is a full on commercial grade chainsaw. In the price category the Echo is a slam dunk and our recommendation.

    The CS 620 has become my main saw because of the ergonomics, great power, and rugged durability of a Pro level Saw. The 7310 is too heavy for the terrain I operate on, so it has become a landing saw...lol. The 620 is a Pro Saw, not a Rancher Class.

  • @jimssawsnstuff8903
    @jimssawsnstuff8903 Před 2 lety +10

    Good points, both the 620 and the 590 are professional saws compared to the consumer clamshell design of the husky. The Echo 620 is on par with the Husky 555. I prefer the Echos non-strato design as there is better cooling and lubrication of the piston vs the Husky and Stihls strato port system. I also prefer the more durable steel caged bearings of the Echos vs the nylon caged bearings on Husky and Stihl. The nylon caged bearings do not handle heat, not chains being run too tight.

    Great video bud! I got the chance to run a 620 a couple months ago and im very impressed with them myself! I would absolutely recommend them to anybody looking for a good reliable well built mid size saw they do have alot of grunt! We use stihl ms-362c's at work and they are right around the 60cc mark. They aren't a bad saw, but i would pick that 620 up first if i had my choice. I have no doubt they can take just as much abuse as our saws do day in and out and cost half the price!

    I bought the Echo CS620P a couple of months ago. It's a great saw! It starts easily, cold or hot. I have Husqvarna 450e that does not like to start hot. Originally, I was going to stay in the Husqvarna ecosystem and was looking at their 555 and 562xp 60cc saws. I did not consider the 460 Rancher, it's not much more powerful than the 450. The 555 was about $780 and a 562 about $880 with 24" bars. The 555 makes 4.16hp & the 562 is 4.7hp. The Echo CS620P 24" is 4.4hp and cost me $640 including tax and an extra chain. It's a phenomenal professional power saw!

    If you can find a reconditioned 455 for around 300 buy it if they are available. If not then go with the 590 but buy it from ebay so you spend no more than 350 -400. Performance wise the 590 is very similar to the 455 but I'd pick the 455 everytime . The 620 cost hundreds more I've never seen one less than $550 and with that kind of price increase your better off gettin a bigger husky saw. With that said if you can find a used echo cs 680 for around 300 bucks just buy that cause it can handle a 28 inch bar or shorter with no problem cause i keep a 24 inch on mine and it screams threw wood . Now if money isn't a issue you probably wanna skip all these saws and get something bigger

  • @jaydee2620
    @jaydee2620 Před rokem +1

    I’m sure the 620 is a slightly better saw. But the 590 is an absolute beast. It does great in big wood and pulls a 24 inch bar with ease. Many many tree companies in my area use them all day. They cut great. A little heavy. But if ur not a pro a 590 is all u need. If u r a pro a 590 is all u need. But u may want a 620 for convenience and a few more features.

    Great Video. I'm curious what you would recommend as a companion saw for a smaller workload, such as mostly limbing and brush clearing when doing firewood (mostly fir up to 36" diam) while having the ECHO CS-620P as the main saw/workhorse?

    • @TraverseCreekInc
      @TraverseCreekInc  Před 5 měsíci

      Do you want to stick with Echo?
      Really, the CS-3510 is a really nice lightweight little saw.
      If you want something a little lighter, with a pro style build you could get the CS-2511P, or a CS-361P. They aren't often talked about, because their purpose/size class/configuration isn't super popular in the US, but they are great saws.

    • @andrejutras
      @andrejutras Před 5 měsíci

      @@TraverseCreekInc First, thank you for the follow-up. I often wondered if a smaller top-handle arborist saw would work(for those small tight cluttered spots). I was just today, looking up the CS-4510. I will also check out the 2511P, but trying to keep the costs down. I think in the end, I want a saw for limbing, then two main saws (main saw and a backup saw). As for Echo, I'm leaning towards them for all my new saws. I should also mention that I average cutting up 60 cords (mostly fir) per year.

    Thanks for this. I bought a Husky 455 last year, used it a fair bit and sold it in the fall. Just to cheaply built and underpowered for my liking.
    I have been considering the Echo 590, so this video is extremely timely. You have convinced me the 620 is the way to go. One big plus for the Echo saws is the ability to manually adjust the carburetor as opposed to the Husqvarna auto tune. Are Echo chainsaws still made in Japan or like everything else are they made in China now?

    • @TraverseCreekInc
      @TraverseCreekInc  Před měsícem

      Husqvarna 455 still has regular adjustable carb. Most of the 5xx series has autotune. Honestly, the autotune systems work great. Lazy mechanics and misinformed guys typically blame autotune for every problem a saw would have. 99% of the time they aren't related.
      I really like and prefer the autotune, and that's coming from a guy who knows how/has the tools to adjust.
      Echo manufacturing and assembly is typically in Japan or USA. I believe the 620s are all Japan.

    Question for you as a dealer. First off thanks for your video, it helped me make a decision. Now the question. I had a local dealer order me a 620P and after taking it home 5/23/23, I noticed it didn't have the correct sprocket guard with captive nuts. Not that big a deal but it made me start digging in and doing some research. What I found was that I was sold a saw in the s/n range of C69215001001--C69215999999. Basically a 3 year old saw with the smaller A021001662 Walbro HDA 268 carb, an older design P021016023 air filter and case. These are the only differences I've found so far. The smaller carb is what bothers me most. Isn't that going to limit my power output compared to the HDA316 current spec carb? I'm hoping my dealer will swap me with a current grade saw. What are your thoughts?

      I have no hard concrete data, such as Dyno runs, or internal documentation to support any idea that the carb change makes a power difference or not like I did when I made the statement in the video of the differences between the 590 and 620.
      I also mentioned there are more differences than just the carb to support this power difference.
      Would you prefer that I make a frivolous statement not based on any factual evidence to confirm what you're asking me to confirm?

Most of it is crap you don't even need to do the same job as efficiently as its pro counterparts. Like no farmer is worried about the fact they will need a new bar in 3 years vs 4 with the other.
