Ninja Nerds!
In this lecture Professor Zach Murphy will present on part 1 of this two part series on fatty acid oxidation. During this lecture we discuss the transport of fatty acids within the bloodstream, as well as the activation of fatty acids. We also talk about the translocation of fatty acids from the cytoplasm into the mitochondria via CPT-1, and CPT-2. We hope you enjoy this lecture and be sure to support us below!
We also have a discussion on the 4 stages of beta oxidation:
1. Oxidation
2. Hydration
3. Oxidation
4. Thiolase activity

I attend a fu**ing 4 hour lecture about this exact same content and I don't understand a word , but I understand it all in less than 30 minutes vid with this guy, dude this is unfair
Monyal Knowing that these videos are free, and that I’m gonna be paying tens of thousands of dollars in loans for inferior lectures makes me angry lol
Thats bec you attended! Each lecture is a “build up” to the next level :)
Same here
same lol i Spent three days
Might be you r dumb
Dude, you're a genius. Metabolism actually makes sense now. Thanks.
+kevo1295 That’s awesome! Glad to help!
You are amazing man! I wish there would be professors like you in our college. Keep it up man. Waiting for new vids👍
Thanks ninja
Yay man!!!!
You r awesome
Greetings from Nigeria 🇳🇬 You’re appreciated ❤️
Nice to meet u❤️
🇳🇬 9ja
Man you are a life saver for real!!! I would've never understood Biochemistry without your videos😭! THANK YOUUU😍
Thank a lot! saving me form med school. Btw I want to comment that in 20:21 the enzyme used is B-hydroxyacyl CoA dehydrogenase in order to move to B-ketoacyl CoA. Thanks a lot.
Yes
@@chitrakarcosmoI was like why acyl CoA dehydrogenase responsible for convertion to Enoyl acy CoA. So B-hydroxyacyl CoA dehydrogenase responsible for the conversion to B-ketoacyl CoA. Looks like the reversed process of Fatty acid CoA synthesis.
Well done, but there’s a small mistake at the beginning of the lecture. You mentioned that atp is converted to adp in fact it’s converted to amp and the 2 inorganic phosphates and the phosphoanhydride bond is broken by inorganic pyrophosphatase otherwise perfect video
Awesome!!
Thank you so much!!
thank you for adding this clarification
dude speak English
What is atp and ADP bro?
@@basharathussain7212
ATP is Adenosine tri-phosphate.
ADP is Adenosine di-phosphate.
I literally don't know why I get excited when I listen to you .... I just start walking with the excitement that I have got the core concept that I couldn't get when I listened 100 other videos. I think you are the most underrated man on utube , u deserve atleast 10M or more.... I can't appreciate you with Thankyou only .... U deserve award for all your efforts. I wish you never stop making videos please
My Favrt processor in All of my life 🖤🖤🖤
Countless blessings ❤️
no word of appreciation can entirely explain your personality SIR U ARE SUCH A GENIUS PERSONALITY ALOT OF LOVE AND RESPECT FOR YOU.U ARE JUST AMAZING SIR.
You deserve more views. You easily explained something my "highly accredited" professor couldn't in 53min, while you did in less than 30. THANK YOU!!!
this is a scripted video. some would call that an advantage
@@elianjoensen2756 yea but he did it in one take pretty much
@@MarieKametani teachers do that too. it’s called real life, and they don’t have a script
@@elianjoensen2756 ohh my classes are recorded rn bc of covid lol
I adore your knowledge of Biochemistry and enthusiasm. How clean and pleasant an explanation this is! 💕
Isn't it a Hydroxyacetyl CoA D.H and not the Ketoacyl CoA D.H in the third reaction?
+Op Nutrition You are absolutely correct! I am sorry for that mistake!!
Np mate...great vids. btw!
why did not u change it or added a comment till now ??
Op Nutrition
Why???
There is keton group😅
baraa ka because the dehydrogenase is acting on the b-hydroxyacyl-coa to form your b-ketoacyl-coa
I know I'm late but honestly saying you're a LIFESAVER !!!! I understood so beautifully 💜
You're a genius man!! I spent my whole day to understand this and i got it in 40mins..hats off to you
You are a legend thank you so much for helping me through med school...
You manage to do more in half an hour than hours of professors or the textbook😁
Reading my book after 30 mins of ur lecture is smooth ... Thanks a lot u are a life saviour
Brother I’m really owe u, u summarized about 2 three-hours lectures in about 30 minutes! u r incredible!!
I know I am watching this 6 years later, but I just want to say you are a genius. I used to hate biochem, but by watching your videos, I am now omw to become a biochem guru. Thx
All the praise here multiplied by 100, and that still wouldn't suffice what an amazing lecture this is.
This is the absolute best video on fatty acid oxidation i've ever seen! I feel like I just had an epiphany.
Ninja nerd is a blessing. This channel has helped me so much that a small thank you just won't do justice. I'm so grateful 💫💫
I never paid attention to this while in Medial School. What an AWESOME teacher !! God bless you !!
I like how we all in comments are amazed and thankful for ur great explanation .. thx ! ❤️
My exam is in 2 weeks thankssssss you just saved meee and ur lecture notes are rlly so legit!! Keep uppp ur saving billions of medical students
I can't even imagine looking at my book for metabolism buhh you're awesome. The legend ninja.
In one word: LIFESAVER. Thank you so much!
You are so welcome Hugo!
Literally ❤
You explain things so well I watched it twice and probably will watch it again.
Nice and concise, I really appreciate what you're doing, particularly for people that cant afford education...but bear in mind, palmitoleic acid is a monounsaturated acid, necessitating more reactions that you drew, but for palmitic acid it is perfectly correct, and the thiol group is what connects the CoA to the acyl group.
So excited when we finally got to the acetyl CoA. Yaaay. Finally
This was the best teaching video I've ever seen, you're a great teacher ! Thank you so much!!
Thank you very much Prof, you make Biochemistry more comprehensible, greetings from Ghana🇬🇭
Thank God, I finally understand the topic. Thank you Ninja Nerd, God bless you!
With your videos I don’t have to necessarily memorize but rather, to understand. Thank you so much!
Great video!!!!! If only my professors were as good at teaching as u are 😂😂
You’re saving my life with your videos
You are a lifesaver for real!!!! Thank youuuu.
thank you for making everything we much easier and enjoyable.. you are putting a lot of effort ..I appreciate.
You're such a gem, thank you SO much for making all these videos
You are helping me get that exemption from biochem exam and I could not be more thankful!!!
Normally i wouldnt even like subscribe and pay for this knowledge but you my friend explain it soooooo easy im sold.
Guys, amazing job! Just amazing!
can't figure the actual words to use to thank this guy😁.. he's absolutely the best of the best😍, thank you@ Ninja Nerd
Brilliant. What a pleasant and rewarding experience for learning biochemistry with clarity.
Amazing explanation! Thank you ninja master. I think you flipped the CoA-SH in the opposite direct. I believe it should be Acetyl-S-CoA, so that CoA is bound to acetyl with thioester bond:)
Great job Nija nurd.I was struggling my head to get around this.Thank you as always
I have no words to praise ur hardword , such an excelent work , mindblowing. U r a hero bro .
you help us alot I'm so thankful to what you do 💙💙💙
عاششش يا كبير
superb...💕💕MAY ALLAH BLESS YOU SIR💛💛
can't find a better video sooo simple thaaank youu from north africa
Better than my metabolism prof. I have a metabolism midterm tomorrow and you are SAVING me
Nice video sir.. but a small correction .... in the first step.... ATP is converted to AMP + PPi... which is converted to Pi by an enzyme inorganic pyrophosphatase ... this makes the first step irreversible!!!
first thing i was going to say! they should fix it....
i think tejasvi is right
@@guffronagung8316 i saw it in lehninger but I'm not at home right now to confirm..
H
In which step? Please mention the step
i cant stress how much your videos have helped me . thank u so much :)
