- When you think of the most played artists of all time on British television, you could be mistaken in thinking it's the Beatles or the Kinks from the '60s, Elton John or Stevie Wonder from the '70s, The Eurythmics or Wham from the '80s, Blur or Oasis in the '90s, or Eminem, Adele, Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga from this side of the millennium.
But one artist from Malvern surpasses possibly all of those artists put together - yet nobody really knows who he is.
Malvern composer Dave Lowe is all over the news - for all the right reasons...he's the man behind pretty much every TV news theme on the planet!
I bet he had no clue as to just how famous his little eight seconds of music would become.
I used to turn up the tv volume on this music of BBC news in childhood. 🤭🤭❤️❤️
Same

You are a genius 👌👌
Oh my god, just look what David has in his studio: it's exactly the synthesizer that he used to create those familiar upbeat news tunes of the BBC!
I think that he sampled the sine waves (pips) into that synthesizer, because the instrument doesn't came with sines built-in as a factory preset.
I wonder if that synth is an Roland, Korg, an Ensoniq or something else like this?
Looks like a MIDI controller to me, synths will all be done via software. I emailed him some time ago and he said he uses Apple's software "Logic". It could make sense for him to sample the pips, but it is more likely he just generated the sound at 1 kHz, using either a MIDI instrument or just a sound generator like on Audacity.
@@EddiesTech OK, thanks for the information dude! I give a respect for that.
I'm also going to use Logic Pro just like him, only if I get enough of the big money to buy and use an MacBook Pro in my home gear/music studio.
Those pips are a very distinct and iconic sound that represents "news" to all of us in this modern and innovative world.
@@k2playpedroariel481 OK so I sent a reply back, but it didn't actually send. In the meantime, you could try using Tracktion Waveform Free, which is a DAW that is similar to ones like Logic, but free :)
This is ICONIC lol
