  • The Yuuzhan Vong War has a lot of similarities to the prequels, and today we're talking about how the Vong turned the galaxy against the Jedi with results similar to Order 66.

      Topher7527 that he did! But if he’d taken the Vong seriously from the get-go, he’d have had no need to do that.

    Oh, I remember those! Voxyn, hunting hounds, and Terminator-like combat droids to combat them!
    Star by Star is, to this day, one amongst the best SW books. Out of NJO, I think I liked Traitor more, as it was more psychological and depicted the change of Jacen personality from animal loving pacifist to morally grey... Jedi, basically.
    Man, setting up a game during Vong war would be epic. Imagine a game, playing as a Jedi and trying to escape from Vong and their hounds tracking you, all the while you can't even sense them with Force.
    Or even better, a game about a civilian during post fall Coruscant, when you try to survive as the planet changes around you and the Vong are genociding everyone... Great horror material!

    How many Purges of Jedi have there been? I count about four, Kreia, Nihilus and Sion's, Palpatine's, the Vong's, and Krayt's. Is there any more?

    • @luckysix1015
      @luckysix1015 Před 4 lety +4

      Not sure about legends but there’s the destruction of Luke’s temple in canon which is basically another purge.

    • @MobiusLeader007
      @MobiusLeader007 Před 4 lety +5

      Exar Kun convinced some of his Jedi followers to slay their masters. Probably doesn't count as a purge since it only targeted Jedi Masters, and it didn't fully succeed, but thought it was worth a mention.

    • @CouncilCape897
      @CouncilCape897 Před 4 lety +6

      At least in Legends, only 3 are *officially* acknowledged as Jedi Purges, despite the Jedi having suffered critical loses in other conflicts and even went into exile multiple times over the millennia.
      The 1st carried out by the Sith Triumvirate after the Jedi Civil War and Revan's disappearance in the Unknown Regions, that ended in KOTOR 2.
      The 2nd executed by the Galactic Empire between Order 66 and A New Hope.
      The 3rd carried out by Darth Krayt's One Sith Empire in the Legacy comics, 130 ABY-138 ABY.
      Personally, though, I agree that the Yuuzhan Vong War should also be counted as a Purge. I think the only reason it isn't, is simply because the NJO saga was published before the term "Jedi Purge" was introduced in the other stories.

    • @CouncilCape897
      @CouncilCape897 Před 3 lety

      @Chosen One It wasn't specified in the Jedi's case, only stated that they were reduced to half. I'd say there were less than 200 members when the Yuuzhan Vong invaded 'cause the Order was still in its early years, and its restoration was a slow process that took Luke decades.
      What is known is that 365 trillion people in total had died all over the galaxy by the end of the war.

    • @CouncilCape897
      @CouncilCape897 Před 3 lety

      @Chosen One Like I said, it wasn't specified. Not all deaths happen "on-screen", you know? Just like the Jedi Purge stated that almost 10,000 Jedi were hunted and killed by the Empire, yet the death of less than 400 were actually shown.

    I have to ask the obvious, since a previous video discussed similarities between the battles of Naboo and Dantoooine: did George essentially take influence from or straight up copy events from the NJO series and change details for his movies?

    • @CoreysDatapad
      @CoreysDatapad  Před 4 lety +5

      I very much doubt that. While George was aware of some of the broader strokes of the NJO, a lot of this would have been planned earlier and then already well into production for the PT by the time the NJO stuff was happening, and vice versa- they just happened to converge in a few inetresting places.
