SONY FE 70-200mm F4 Macro G OSS Mark II is a fast constant aperture telephoto zoom lens for the E-mount. Besides its excellent image quality and compact size, the biggest selling point of this lens in my opinion is its close-up capabilities, offering 0.5x max magnification at all focal lengths! It is also compatible with Sony's 1.4x and 2x Teleconverters.

Would you get this lens over the Sony 70-350 G for the a6700? I am debating between those two and the upcoming Sigma 70-200 F2.8. The Sony 70-200 F2.8 II is out of the equation as it is costly. Let me know what you think. Thanks!!

I think it depends on what focal ranges you shoot more. I like the 70-350 because I use it as a lightweight combo for bird photography on APS-C, and it is much cheaper. On the other hand, the 70-200 F4's close up capability is hard to resist and it covers FF sensor, so more useful focal range&aperture combination for street photography and portraits.

I understand that it has fixed aperture, but doesn't image get a little bit darker when zooming from wide to tele?
