I don't know if I'll watch the whole series, since it's only loosely based on the books and might ruin my memories of them. but I'll see if I make more edits for this couple with the rest of the seasons. ♡

I have my reservations about the later seasons that I won’t get into. But the best thing about them is Laura and Almanzo’s story arc. She learns to win his affections and he learns to earn her father’s trust and respect. And even though you know they’re going to get together it develops so slowly and gradually that it feels real.

I think the music killed it a little too much and it was too loud in the background. I wouldn't have put up with some of the things Almanzo told Laura. Like, "a woman's place is in the kitchen" "your still a little girl", not waiting 2 years for Laura. That is not showing respect to Laura's Father. If you really love someone you wait.

there are some weird episodes thrown in though. I read some where that it's most 70s and 80s themes in period costume. I don't like the 9th season as much.

Serioux, the divorce episodes are definitely modern. Back then people getting divorced right and left over not getting along simply wasn’t a thing because there was a stigma to that and besides these were pioneers who were used to hard times and putting petty differences aside to pull together and survive so incompatibility or irreconcilable differences was completely unheard of. I always skip those episodes.

@@serioux.Seasons 1-3 are excellent. Season 4 is a bit brassy but still good and solid. Seasons 5-7 are flawed but fun. Seasons 8 and 9 are jump the shark.

yeah their age gap is especially noticeable in the 6th season and as the seasons go on it gets better. they do have an 8 year age gap (the actors..)
