Not so underrated anymore
I realized that Palki’s English, which has Indian accent, is easy on my ears than the standard American/British English. There are no nasal sounds, no twisting of tongue when saying words containing ‘r’ sound, no unnecessary change in stress between syllables within the same word etc. What do you think?
Exactly . This is like a classier version of Indian Accent
Neutral accent sounds best
her accent is not real Indian. It's more of a neutral English accent
Nasal sound ?
@@JitzyJT as an Indian it's the most common Indian accent. Our 2nd generation English learners currently in India has this or closer to this accent including me. And most of us are fine sounding like this.

good to know
Can I ask what type of work?
Basically am a web developer and it took me years to get good at my craft but still freelance is another skill to learn , being a freelance means to have your own company or business .
No.. to have your own company you have to set it up under the Companies Act of your country.
As a "freelancer " you're a qualified professional - free to work for any company or organization. The only way to carry your work forward and make yourself known is to 1) incorporate all your past completed projects on your resumé, and put together a portfolio of your past work 2) get a few reference letters from past employers saying you've completed projects with them
3) build your detailed profile on important professional websites like LinkedIn and other social media sites and let the world know what you do.
4) actively scout for your next job before you've completed your previous job and let people in your industry know you're ready for your next gig.

I'm self employed. You can have health insurance, HSA and retirement benefits. You just need to financially plan for those things. And mortgage company's like seeing you use Quickbooks. As long as you've been self employed for 2 years, file a tax return, make enough profit and have good credit you can get a loan.

The secret to be successful in Freelancing is You have to be knowledgeable and be extremely good, preferably the best at what you do on that platform...
The first gig may not come easily...(I sent out bids for 2 straight months before my first break of $50 job for a high-end legal service) BUT when You get going and You continually improve...folks will beg you to accept $500 - $750 jobs...
If you're into Tech...(programming, C+, C++, Website building, front and back end and the sorts)
If you are freaking good, it's almost like Narcotics money...
With some downside though, you get bored over time... And believe me IT IS TIME CONSUMING...
You begin to think... is this my path to becoming Elon Musk...?🤷♂️
Hell nah... one would need a big break, coupled with accumulated gains and investments from freelancing...
Gig economy is not limited to tech contracts
what's your gig? What according to u are the most imp freelancing jobs in the coming decade?
Hey would you help me to start freelancing...

Becoming a billionaire isn't something one should strive for, given the astronomically low odds, because they face a life of disappointment. Additionally, most of the so-called self made billionaires are only self made in the sense that they didn't necessarily inherit a fortune to work with. However, they were still born in the upper-middle class and received top education, both at home from a young age as well as from attending prestigious universities, which gave them the connections they needed. Additionally, they never had to worry about trivial things such as "how am i going to pay my bills, rent and food without getting a job?", thus being able to invest as much time as they needed to succeed. With that said, they're all highly intelligent people (genetically gifted or just a result of being in the right environment from an early age), but that's only one of the check boxes from an entire manuscript required to get to that level, many of which are completely out of one's hand (life's randomness, RNG, right place right time, etc.).
Wion always amazes me with their choice of topics.
A great video as always.
It's been my 2nd-year working remotely for 3 companies. I work as a social media planner, video editor and web developer, 3 job roles for 3 companies and counting.
As long you have contracts and decent to high paying client
Yeah entire life is not a issue

More than 80% of entire gig economy violates employment rights of workers of the respective countries they belong to. Gig employment is a very well perpetrated scam by big corporations to evade laws and what not. Governments are aware of it but don't act because they too are part of the same ecosystem to allow the mafia to survive. For a lot of people so called gig economy doesn't work for long and they suffer. The economy and the money it gives is like drugs and sex that people get addicted to and cant survive for long. The presenter has only shown the gig business as an appeasement to corporates. Under the hood the entire economy is an ecosystem of illegal and sham worker abusive contracts.

Time spent other than income generating is, for others, more valuable than gold.
@@typedash1905 exactly!
Here's how I'd get into Freelance:
1. Gain as much skills that will make your life easier when you do start doing gigs.
2. Once you are 30 start doing gigs during long holidays ( usually getting the 1st client is the hardest part). Do this for the next 10 years.
3. At 40, assuming you have payed off all your loans and have a house that's truly yours and have additional income streams ( cuz you should) quit the full time and do the gigs from then on, since you would have a decent completion rate by then because u have been doing gigs since the past 10 years, you can basically ask more per hour and you would still get the gig. Now the whole thing could be done sooner asuming you already have a achieved getting a house and enough for your children's education.
Thank you for presenting this. As you said, it's a matter of risk/reward, cost/benefit, plus/minus, etc,...just like everything else in life. I've been working freelance/independent for the last four years, and I don't plan to go back to a "regular/normal" job. It's works for me, but it's not for everyone.

Very innovative of you to select a novel topic for the presentation. Isn’t it almost same as WFH? In UK, some big employers require the GIG workers to set up a one man company, before giving a contract.
UK is a mind control state. Get out fast.
Very novel and interesting topic indeed! I got to know about this topic a month ago in my master’s class presentation at Gothenburg University, when a course mate made presentation on this topic with lots of eye opening information; meanwhile I have been working as a gig myself for the past 8 months as a delivery agent for a food company in Sweden. I totally agree with the downsides of the gig economy shared by Palki, especially in terms of the rights violations, lack of contracts and stability!

I probably would have been in much better position.
You actually resemble a famous character created by Satyajit Ray that is Siddhu Jetha.

Siddhu Jetha was a warehouse of knowledge of different fields and used to help a detective to solve critical problems.
I work gigs and didn't even know about it coz it's a new term for me 😁

This was well presented in terms of pros vs cons. I like Palki's presentation.

On the other side of the coin, people usually competed with their own colleagues now they have to compete with an ocean of people, moreover jobsecurity, perks, and all the other things are gone out of the window. Corporates get benefited out of this than the employees. Corporates will save more money than it brings flexibility to employees but anyways people want to hear only pros of flexible working
I, for one, don't want to be fighting for a job every day, week, or month. Gig work might be great for specialized people, but not for everyday Joe. Companies have already turned many jobs into part-time because they don't want to pay benefits, and I feel that gig work is their next step. Do we really want to see people fight and down bid each other to work at McDonald's? Just look how Uber drivers are doing fighting for more pay and better representation.
@@MetalLunar You're right but there is always redressal against the firms, companies for abuse but if you're gig everything is gone. You can't challenge them in court

Yes! GIG-ing is a gamble! But, working life long for companies in "11x mode and getting only 1x in return" is very dis-respectful. GIGs must develop their own products to sell and get good returns. Working life long for companies as employee - is like life-long slavery.
