Wait, the Gameboy Pocket did have a slightly large screen though.
No. It does.
It did but had the same amount of pixels as the original
Yup , even bigger than game boy color s
People have smartphones, I have gameboys.
you fricked a game?
Back when portability was a selling point, and not a necessity
i dont get it
@@bunnydawg back then something being portable was a reason to get it, it was a big plus. nowadays being portable isn't a plus it's the bare minimum it's what people expect.
@@Raylen23 ps5 entered the chat
@@danielgrezda3339 exactly, lol but I think with PC's, and Xbox's and PlayStations, it's an exception because their capabilities are beyond the others, but anything below those capabilities should be portable in the eyes of consumers
"stick it in your pocket today!" a great excuse when someone tries to steal it out of the store!
"the commercial told me to!"
I love how silly this gameboy pocket commercial is!
In My Opinion, i think its wholesome not silly! (not a personal attack on your opinion.)
And then Gameboy Color walks in and he becomes more popular than Bob the Gameboy Pocket
Charlie Central then the GBA walks in....
Then the micro...
I imagine the gb light coming first and say hi, until being pushed by game boy color
and then the Gameboy classic if Nintendo make one
No for some reason gameboy original still sold more until it was discontinued until 2003.
"Not bigger, just sharper!"
Is literally bigger. xD
No, it looks bigger because the console is smaller in size but the screen size stayed the same
@@MoaiGaming394 The display on the original Game Boy is 47x43mm. On the Pocket it’s 48x44mm. It may only be fractionally larger, but it is larger.
@@archgirl you know this was 4 years ago
@@wbaba34 I do, but I don’t see why it matters. I got a reply a month ago, so I replied to that person. I don’t care how long it’s been, it’s no issue for me to respond anyways.

Still have my gameboy pocket, still play it, the thing was made to last forever. Super Mario 6 golden coins, Wario Land, the pocket camera, etc. still work.
So I says to the lady, I says, "I gotta leak in my sink" she said "Go ahead it's free!" hahaha
Got a green Game Boy Pocket for my 10th birthday!
My Dad got me a few Game Boys a year or four back..... :) It was when I was in my early 20's..... :3 I'm 26-going-on-27 now, and am going to play Blades of Steel on my silver GB Pocket..... :) RIP Dad..... :'3 And thanks for the cool Video of this great commercial...... :3 Ahh, the memories of being a 90's kid....... :3
I recognize some of the voices. I wonder if some of the actors in this commercial were some of the members of The State.
Unfortunately, when that bomb goes off in the war, Bob won't survive because he's not built like a brick.
Pockets must have been big back then, I can hardly fit mine in my pocket hahahha!

Wow that guy's just a little too excited isn't he?
The Pocket was my first gaming system ever. It was years before I got a PSX so I consider the Pocket to be my first.
i still have mine to this Day
brings back memorys
@poopybooyah it was from ren and stimpy's production music. forgot the exact title, but it is on the soundtrack.
When he says " stick it in your pocket today!"
does he mean steel it?
Gameboy Micro: It fits in your coin pocket.
I love the game boy pocket
I had a Hot Pink gameboy color. That was my first handheld console. Got it the day it came out and loved it.
What a great motto. "Gameboy pocket! Stick it in your pocket today!"
Ren and Stimpy music in the background 😂
Later that night, Bob got lucky with the thicc Red Game Boy
HOLLY SHIT REN AND STIMPY MUSIC IN THIS COMMERCIAL AND SETH MCFARLANE IS THE VOICE OF THE GAMEBOY POCKET!
I don't think that was Seth MacFarlane's voice.
"stick it in your pocket today!" XD
i like how on the box it said dont stick it in ur pocket (in the manual) but its called gameboy pocket it also says that on the light
He's thinner, sharper, can do everything the other guys can, he's perfect!
This looks like a fanmade commercial, lol...
But is is seen on television.
My Gameboy always goes out with its friends during the day......
Rumor is the mindblowing budget for this commercial almost bankrupted Nintendo
Damn this looks sick. When does it come out?
huh, it took 12 years to answer to a joke
2025 we just gotta wait a bit longer!
This is so cool and awesome I wish every commercial was like this like an iPad commercial.
lol the ren and stimpy music
So if Bob was implied to have been originally a OG Game Boy, how the hell did he turn into a Game Boy Pocket.
A Game Boy is still a Game Boy regardless the size.
And this is when I saw my gameboy talk...They said I was crazy!! BUT SEE!!! SEEE!!!!!!
I kinda find it weird that a few of the Game Boy Pockets don't have a power light (or battery meter) which kinda bugs me but I got a game boy color (I'm ordering a Game Boy Pocket from ebay luckily mine has a power light).
Just when you thought the Game Boy Screen couldn't get any smaller, it did.
We had a different game boy pocket commercial on a video tape at one time. I remember my aunt taping us Halloween movies at the time and there was one with all of these different things going on. Like run, swim, etc and then they would say stick it stick it in your pocket. I wonder if we still have it I will have to look through our video tapes we still have lots of them.
I remember this commercial. Made me want one. :)
Same🙂
The Gameboy was originally marketed towards adults, so it was not uncommon to see "a grown ass man in a leather jacket" playing the Gameboy.
awesome. you can totally tell its the humour of the guys from The State.
GB Pocket would give sick detailing fades on raw jeans
I remember these commercial as a kid
Best commercial ever
I always wanted one like in the commercials that have the "GAME BOY" in big font on the front of the console..
I wonder if anybody has one of these gameboys
I have no idea why in god's name CZcams recommended this to me but i'm so glad it did otherwise i would have never seen this masterpiece
David Wain posted this video on his blog a few months ago. it's him, Kerri Kenney, Ben Garant, Michael Showalter & Michael Black
"Once upon a time, Nintendo wanted to release the GameBoy Advance (Project Atlantis, the reason why is because it was for the Atlanta Olympics) it was scheduled on late 1996 or early 1997 and "'Mario's castle'" was supposed to be a launch title, but the protect was too expensive at the time, and replaced it with the GameBoy Pocket, and two years later Nintendo released a GameBoy Color sort of like a stop gap so they will have enough time to make project Atlantis, then later in 2000 they revealed the same item except with a new protect name and a different design and a year later in March 2001 in Japan and in June of the same year internationally Nintendo released the GameBoy advance, and then the Nintendo DS was released in November of 2004 and later the Nintendo DS lite in 2006 until 2008 when Nintendo released the Nintendo DSi which removed the backward capability with the GameBoy Advance, then in 2009 Nintendo revealed the long lost project".
I recently got the exact same Gameboy Pocket from a game store, with "Super R.C. Pro-Am". Best $30 I've spent!
I had a solid black one. Well I do but some of the tiles on the LCD screen are gone out. One of the columns on the very edge is gone, and about half of the tile column next to it. Man, I played the p-windin out of that thing. Between Donkey Kong, Tetris, Pokemon (Red Blue and Yellow) and stuff, it saw a lot of use. Nowadays I play those games on the Gameboy colour as the missing columns of tiles make playing annoying, but it was the stuff. RIP Gameboy Pocket.
“I don’t have any hair, Jim.”
Sounds Like Jeffy When He Says Dork 0:11
Lmao it does
Imagine they do this for the switch 2
Clever commercial! I wish they did stuff like this today instead of just sex appeal and the use of popular sports figures to advertise things...
stick it in your pocket (without paying?) toady!
@Jaaonderdha you forgot, ads were more honest back then.
Those are some big-ass gameboys.
Little boy: mommy i want a new gameboy
mom: but you already have one
little boy: yeah but this one talks!
*buys fake* kid mommy this isn't a game boy mommy part 2
lol back in the day when it was cool to have different coloured game consoles.
It still fit in your pocket, even after they made the micro.
Gameboy Pocket. Yeah, your BACK pocket because that's the only one it'll fit in.
Love the batman animated series Gameboy..now I play it with emulator on my Nokia N900
0:21 When you come to the party uninvited
Gameboy pocket has a charm that the other gameboys just don't have for some reason.
I remember this commercial, I still have and play my black gameboy pocket =D
Notice they're standing next to the water cooler the first 0:00 -2 seconds
"So Bob, do you still play all the games?"
"All the Game Boy games, babe."
Wait till 1998, Bob. Wait till 1990 fucking 8.
Those boys turned Nintendo Game Boys into Nintendo Barbie dolls... and I thought Nintendo cereal was weird...
Hey Julia D :)
***** Hi! ^_^
How goes the amourshipping :)
***** Good. I've made a few Amour AMVs on my second channel. :D
Whats your second channels name?
I miss these commercials
Actualy I had a Gameboy Pocket. The screen was actualy bigger than the original.
Yes, there is a contrast wheel.
it's all fun and games with that thing until you squash it and break the screen
wait....the Game Boy came in more colors!!!!
Jerk48 It was the Play it Loud campaign in ‘95
Gameboy Classic has since 1989 only the one with pink en grey buttons. Later at 1994 you had color version as Green Black Red Blue and Yellow That made each of one looked which Gameboy Classic Color look you want. Now 24 years later the Color versions of Gameboy Classic are rare as you completed the box or manual. I want also the color versions. I had almost an black Gameboy Classic from Japan. But it was sell from another user. And the item is sold. :(
Is that a gameboy in your pocket or are you happy to see me? XD
OH MY GOD, is the Extenze commercial based on this (Smiley Bob)
listen to what the GameBoys are talking about when "Bob" first comes in
i lost many gameboys in my days, ahhh .....memories.
Man I miss this D:
our an ancestors would be so disappointed
(Sega Game Gear walks in)
Game Gear: Hey dudes, I’m still pretty cool, aren’t I? I got a color screen and can play Master System games.
Nomad: Yo dudes, I’m cool too. I can play Genesis games on the go.
(Game Boys all look and sneer at Game Gear and Nomad.)
Game Gear and Nomad: We got a couple more years left of us.
Game Boys: (Altogether) Put a sock in it!
Thars The State doing the voices. Crazy stuff 😮
This video is older than me...
love the ending
LOL Put it in your pocket today, WELL what else are you gonna do with it LOL classic
omg omg omg i miss my gameboy
It was very easy for nintendo to shrunk down the gameboy by making those chips smaller and fit as much chips together into one chip, they also has fit every componnent onto one motherboard as opposed of 2 motherboard on the 1st gameboy, they also dit make the link cable & adaptor input and the battery compartment smalker, and the screen is now b&w ,thus without the green filter, trough i found thd greenish filter much cooler as it gives the games more dept.
i've been wanting to make a case that looks like the game boy is from a commercial.
somehow I remember this commercial
They should put Bob up for an auction and see how much he is worth now.
My First Game
I kinda though, "Thats What She Said". lol
Stella strikes again!
This video shows the mystery of the game boy that says game boy on it large
yup it does
could someone tell me why on earth the titles on the gameboy originals are completely different than the normal ones the lettering is huge
STICK IT IN YOUR POCKET TODAY! and sit
The green Game Boy Pocket was my first ever handheld.
