Watching in 2020. Gary Snr is the best player I have ever seen. Feeling nostalgic and sad seeing some people that have since passed away, Lou Richards, Ted Whitten, Max Walker. Buggered if I know how Sam Newman is still going strong.
Probably the last interview the great man ever did hahaha. Had the pleasure of seeing almost all of Gary's games live. An enigma and a supremely talented player. They'll never, ever be another Gary Ablett senior
I use to live a few streets away from gray Ablett snr and I’ve met him a few times, he really is a great bloke, very humble, loves his family and footy. He is never once up himself or arrogant.
Hate when people say he’s weird and a bit different, he’s so normal... people just don’t like it when someone’s humble and softly spoken, people in the world want arrogant brash people.
I got to meet him in about 2010/11 he was so amazing he couldn't stop asking about me, how i was, how my life and job was, and he was truly interested, Top Bloke could just see it in his eyes
The original Footy Show from '93 its first year on a Sunday morning. Great panel.. Hosted By Maxie Walker... The Thursday night Footy Show started in '94... I definitely preferred this one with Maxie..
Interesting fact. Gary Ablett rarely did interviews, so him being interviewed on the "Footy Show" Grand Final eve edition in 1993 rated so well, that it led to the "Footy Show" (which was only on Sunday mornings back then) to be commissioned for a Thursday night, nighttime version which of course, was the "Footy Show", which then became an institution in TV for the next 25 years.
@@YeahNadaSurfyes. I’m a huge fan of a number of sports. For pure natural ability in their chosen fields…Gary is the most talented sportsman I’ve ever seen. Easily.
Apparently Harvey Silver told Ablett, or his manager, that he would not receive the car if he didn't appear on the show. Ablett reluctantly agreed to appear
He played ~100 games for Melbourne before he played Test cricket, retired from footy to concentrate on cricket. He originally came to Melbourne (from Hobart) to play footy.
Shame they couldn't get a few more guys on the panel
:):):):):)
Lol
hahaha
so many colourful characters on the show. so different from the AFL media today.

What a legend and humble as always
Gary Abblet Snr was the best player in the VFL/AFL of all time ⏲️ Simply Marvellous 😅

Thats what I like about him
Absolute champion bloke 💯 I agree.

Not a Sam Newman fan - but you can tell here that he understands TV in a way most of the rest of the panel don't
Abeltt was always an still is a very humble man.
The greatest player who ever lived.
Not just greatest footballer, I'd rate Gary as greatest player in any sport

I 2 love my coco so when I don't have it I love watching those that may have...not jealous...envious
I had gary ablett jumper as a teen.
Love the old style Adidas jumpers.
There's no comparison he's the Best👊 the reason I started baricking for Geelong 👌so exiting to watch 😊

Oh ok that checks out. You can tell Gary doesn't want to be there. Explains Lou's gag.
What car was it?
@@m.b.82 can't remember but it was significant.
Don't think it was rudeness on Ablett's part, he just hated being the centre of attention off field
@@robertlomman3116 nah not rudeness at all. Just not comfortable
Very philosophical responses from Gary.
Very well spoken man.
You should listen to him when he tries to give an interview and he coked out of his bloody mind

Gary Ablett was a good judge of who would win the Grand final that year in Essendon.
Yaaaaaaablet!
It is sad to watch this knowing how many of these men died very quickly after this show.
Was a horrible crash. Glad all Footy Show panel members travel in different cars these days.
Ablett was above anyone at that table as a player in full flight...and they all knew it.
I'm sure Dermie was bothered with his 5 flags.
Awesome, what a panel!
Our GREATEST
Greatness personified
Imagine what a bloody nightmare Hawthorn would have been if they'd had Ablett as well!
sunday morning childhood tv
So Many Legends in awe of the great man yet Lou cracks a Gag 😃 😄 😁 😆 😅
Wow. Hello childhood.
I had that jumper that garry is wearing...bout 40 years ago
Not enough blokes squashed in the desk .
when he smiles/laughs you can see ablett jnr
RIP Teddy Whitten
Gary is the ONLY down to earth person there. All the rest are money hungry love me do's.
Like Father like son . True thoroughbreds 🥇🥇
how good is ol rexie hunt?
The best.
Imagine how many more goals Gazza would've kicked if he had played full forward.
RIP Lou Richards

I miss Fitzroy. Was a avid supporter
My favourite all-time player.
Second IMO is his son, Jnr.
OmG 32 in 82 so so so old
So you were 43 in 1993... when this was filmed?
Yablett !
How did Max get tangled up with that legendary lot?
Was thinking the same thing
He played ~100 games for Melbourne before he played Test cricket, retired from footy to concentrate on cricket. He originally came to Melbourne (from Hobart) to play footy.
Because Max is a legend himself.
Back when Australia was Australia... before it became Australasia
Thumbs down.
Fuck up dickhead

Gary Ablett seemed like a great guy. Pity he got into drugs. Went south after that

He’s weird because He’s Not Like You… He’s Brilliant….

Abletts a well spoken bloke, I don't know why channel 7 did give him a media job. I forgot they only like arrogant players

Not in the slightest. Sam would have known Ablett was a renowned poor trainer, with amazing natural strength.
A very handsome man
@N K I think it's humour.
the good old days, so shit now
Lou lmao
Legends all. But you spell ablett g.o.d
He was 32. Looks like he's 55
Sad to say he was a prick of a kid at school and his teachers never forgave him.
a lot of people are pricks at that age, let's be honest
Lebron
Sam is drunk
absolute legends, why has the show become so shit, and worse in backwards QLD they show it at midnight.

Alicia Horan is dead gary.
If he forcibly put the drugs in her mouth, then we can start charging him.
Her being infatuated with him doesn’t make him guilty
Gary dont like he don't like he don't like ,he loves cocaine
geez he lost a lot of hair fast
I take it 1 sniff at a time ,its deal to deal ,well id have to say picking up that ounce of coke was the best & um & well um & um but um
