They actually change it from “everypony” to “everycreature” in the later seasons because they introduce a bunch more species over time.
Because of character growth !!
That's....Actually kinda cool.
This is amazingly based
Applejack said “every one” in Season 8
@@mylittlebrony2130 yes
As someone else said in a video, the show was always meant to appeal to people of all ages and genders, but the first season was much less ambitious about it. Season 1 feels so different from the other seasons that followed it. It's before the fandom, before the show gained this huge older audience that reflected in the writing and the direction it took, before episodes and premieres became events at Comic Cons and season long arcs and battles for the fate of the world started, etc. It's weird looking back at this show's rather humble beginnings.
honestly I prefer the earlier seasons for this very reason. it feels like once the fandom became a thing the show kind of started letting that aspect seep into the attitude and personality of the show. its not inherently a bad thing but i think once you get used to the idea of the show and the tone that it has, seasons 1 and 2 just seem so much more organic and genuine.
@@BT405 I feel like the fandom was a double edged sword. On one hand many of the problems with the series later on stemmed from the prioritizing the adult fanbase and losing some of what made the series special to begin with (I think S7 and S8 are the biggest examples of this), but on the other hand the show never could have reached the highs it reached without that adult fanbase. It was their striving to make a series that more mature audiences could enjoy that led to some of the best aspects of the series.
I think that’s why my favorite part of the show is when I feel like it hit that perfect balance between being for kids and for the brony fandom, mainly from S2-S5. I still really enjoy S1 and S9 which are very different seasons for many reasons and S6 and S7 still have some quality episodes (S8 had like a handful) but S2-S5 really felt like the peak of the series in my eyes.
@@jordandwiggins1026 I feel like most people feel like season 5 was the peak, and season 6 was when it started to go downhill although there still good episodes, like it never became straight up bad but I only made it to the beginning of season 9 before I lost interest, would you say its worth coming back to finish?
@@oali2478 You best go on and finish the last few episodes while u still can, youre almost there.

I can't believe 2012 was 10 years ago....like damn this show DOMINATED, you couldn't escape it
I remember the show going two full seasons while I kept doing my best to ignore it but it was just inescapable (especially when you had a 3 year old sister at the time) to the point where I just caved and said “Screw it I have to see what the fuss is about” and slowly but surely I became hooked on it. I’ve watched a bunch of people react to the series, and my favorite thing to do is watch people start the series being extremely skeptical, making fun of it constantly, really not wanting to look girly or cringey before they slowly start becoming legitimately invested, usually either because they attach to a particular character really strongly or a particular episode or moment really impresses them (Flutterguy, Winter Wrap Up, the Sonic Rainboom or Discord’s first appearance are all prime examples of things that really get new viewers’ attention) and then sometime either late in Season 1 or during Season 2 they come clean and admit “You know what, I’m not watching this for the meme anymore, I am genuinely really enjoying this.” It’s just a really wholesome process to watch unfold.
@@jordandwiggins1026 this is my story with the show

I love the faces of people when they hear that "slavery, war, sex trafficking, and terminal illness are all canon to the show" when I tell them.
@@amandaslough125
I was trying to recall when trafficking came in, but i guess changelng invasion might count. Though that's more spoils of war than illicit commerce.
i don’t consider myself a hardcore brony, but when a series that looks to be directed towards girls between the ages 4-10 ends up appealing to boys and even adults who grew up with the franchise, which is what the creator Lauren Faust intended, that just made me love the show (shoutouts to ACRacebest and his Bronies React collabs) and it’s nice most of the voice actors (like obviously Tara Strong’s portrayal of Twilight) got freedom with each characters’ personality and dialogue, which made them iconic animated characters as the series progressed into learning territories most kids would not normally learn around the ages of 4-10. So Spilling Milk, if you decide to continue with the show, definitely consider watching the Season 4 finale
They might need to see the season 3 finale first though. If they don’t, they’ll be constantly asking why Twilight has wings.

You might find it weird but... this show is actually great. For kids' show, of course.
I watched all seasons and they were not as cringy as I thought.
Still don't understand why bronies are so... attracted to ponies though.
So give it a chance.
Show=surprisingly good. Especially from Seasons 2-5.
But yeah the pony fetishes…..very weird ngl

They gave us Equestria Girls so that anyone who claims to be attracted to the characters can say that they mean the EQG version :P
Don't associate those people with the rest of us bronies. We like to try to forget they exist
I absolutely adore this show I'm just not neck-deep into the fandom. Ankle-deep most likely.
I remember in high school a friend of mine force me to watch this show. I was the same age as him but I felt like a dad who doesn't understand what his kids are into.
I was only introduced to the show because a coworker HATED the entire concept of MLP and spent months trying to convince me MLP was "everything wrong with the world", with his tirades becoming so insane I eventually got curious to see just how much validity his claims held.
Watched the first EQG, got curious enough to want to know HOW Twilight got her wings and the rest is history.
I now have everything MLP on DVD aside from season 9 (when are you finally gonna release that, Hasbro, it's been 3 years already?) and don't regret it.
Obviously, that coworker and I are not friends anymore because he sees me as "a hollow shell of my former self" just because I like MLP instead of being pulled into his bubble of pure hatred for it.
And, if being a more open minded, more caring, more understanding and altogether happier person makes me "a hollow shell of my former self", then good. Clearly my former self was a miserable person and I'm glad I'm not him anymore

Weirdly enough, this show kinda help kickstart a couple people into being content creators into CZcams. And even more weirdly enough, while the show was supposed to aim at little girls and sell toys for little girls.. once Bronies and boys got into the mix, they literally had to change up the toys to make it appeal to all demographics. In the early years it was the usual stuff, but when you got to the later years... they started to make them a lot more like action figures.
And this whole brony fanbase... the literal spark that started all this... was a freakin 4Chan post.
MysteryBen27, Living Tombstone, and SaberSpark to name a few.
Actually not just a few youtubers, there are also video game creators and animators.
There is even an artist called Pencils who started out making his own mlp fan comic (Anon's pie adventure) and was later hired by IDW to draw various future issues of the official MLP comic.
Nah the toys still are marketed to kids, the main toys. Some limited addition stuff exists for the older fans, but it's for me anyways, hard to find in stores and only often limited in release.

Since they mentioned High Guardian Spice, I gotta say MLP is actually miles better. The only thing cringe in this show is due to it being a children's show. HGS has no excuses. The only thing better in HGS is probably the fight scenes.

This show got me through the worst of times in my life. I was extremely depressed in college (borderline existential), and it gave me a whole new perspective on life. It taught me to find what I was passionate about, and do things that made me (and other around me) happy.
This show is amazing
"I bet that at one point, they'll stop being friends forever."
Umm... Who wants to tell him about the premiere of season 2?
In all seriousness, Friendship is Magic is still one of my favorite reboots (Rainbow, Pinkie, and a lot of other characters are revamps of characters of the same name), coming right off the heels of a generation of My Little Pony that prided itself in marketing itself only towards little girls instead of writing stories everyone can enjoy! My favorite seasons are 2 and 4. If you're up for continuing, I personally think the show gets even better as it progresses, with Twilight getting the most development of the group. It does eventually put more focus on other characters, so it doesn't entirely remain on her!

Man, I am going to love watching you guys grow to unironically enjoy this show. I can definitely say that the longer you stick with it the better it gets. Season one is definitely the worst season in a lot of ways, but if you can get through it you’ll be in for one hell of a ride (seriously, this show gets absolutely wild at times and it’s absolutely fantastic).
"Season one is definitely the worst season in a lot of ways"
How does it feel having terminally poor taste
@@c.pariah1142 don’t argue with them, please.
I meant more from an objective point of view. It had the lowest budget, the worst animation and sound design, and just generally didn’t have a clear idea yet of what the staff wanted the show to be and in what direction they wanted to take it. When I say season one is the worst, it’s mostly because every season from then on had more time and effort put into them and the staff behind the show just continued to become more experienced. Season one isn’t horrible, but it just suffered from the fact that they didn’t quite know what they were doing yet. Some people love it, and I understand why, I just happen to think it was the first few shacks steps the staff needed to take in order to start hitting their stride.
Season 1 is honestly my favorite, just feels like it has the most heart poured into it, the characters are all really well written and fun to watch, and while the animation got better in later seasons I honestly feel like the actual storyboarding and motion was miles better in S1/2, a lot more cartoony and expressive, by Season 8 the characters move in a slightly more static way
@@AlternativeSack123 Well, actually, in the later seasons, the characters' expressions often become grotesque and virtually unrecognizable. The early seasons knew how to make the faces expressive without being uncanny or straying too far from their default faces.
I just showed my friends some of the season premieres and finales, so they could see the progress and changes in the show. Wouldn’t mind seeing you guys do a similar format. There are some stand out episodes in between, but the premieres and finales are where it’s at.

This show gave me a whole new respect for, not only kid shows, but animation in general. It shows that it doesn't matter who your audience is as long as you treat them like thinking individuals. You can have episodes that are intelligent and well written, and fully fleshed out characters, while giving simple life lessons/morals that even adults can latch onto. It also pushed the envelope on adult topics that most "adult" shows fail to pull off properly.
This show was to art and music what _Star Trek_ was to science and technology. It awakened people's creativity, and opened their minds to other schools of thought.

Honestly, season 1 of this series is pretty ROUGH, mostly humble in nature. It's understandable to be that way since it's the season for introduction and relationship buildup for the maincast. It does get better overtime starting from season 2. If you want to speed run the show you can skip some episodes that doesn't fit with the whole arc of the season , that aren't character development episodes or episodes that doesn't tie with the whole story structure of the series.
Lauren Faust, let you be missed... she's not dead but this and that other canceled show (which I heard was OK) was the last of her grown ideas.
I think a benefit of this show appealing more to its older fanbase over time is that the show grew up alongside fans like me, who were young children when the show first started and kept up with it for several years. So you have this simplistic first season, and by the ninth season you have an entire complex lore because the writers were answering the questions older fans were asking. For example, older fans pointed out that the universe seemed pretty segregated by species (which was likely just an oversight by the writers), so the 8th season dealt with why the universe was that way and showed the characters attempting to repair it.
As an avid MLP fan, I’d just like to remind y’all in the comments that it’s perfectly okay if some people decide they don’t like MLP lmao, people have different tastes

Each episode of of this series of MLP has pop culture references typically in pony forms.
Rick&Morty, Link from the Zelda games, Heisenberg, Doctor Who, and many more.
Going back to season 1 is so rough dude, the animation is super stilted and there's all sorts of little errors. Eyelashes especially seem to pop in and out of existence on a whim.

Oooo baby i knew the second they mentioned MLP there fate was sealed
Edit: ah yes, I remember the existential questions of how the hell this world works. That brings me back, they fit right in
And that's one of the things that hooked me in back in the day. Questions about the physical mechanics and societal institutions of a magical geocentric pony world. They lean into it and keep feeding you bits of worldbuilding. The early seasons had more of those touches of "they're ponies, so everything is built around that" with them using their mouths to manipulate stuff a lot more, clothes being just for formal occasions, etc. But later seasons leaned heavily into the wider geography and lore of the fantasy world. I wish they'd stuck more with thr manual weather control, but they kinda drifted from that fact later on.
TLDR: Fantastic worldbuilding.

Spike is the most underrated character in MLP. He's the coolest in my opinion. He saved Equestria from war multiple times and he's a great assistant for Twilight. Not to mention that he almost become a dragon lord once, but gave the title to his friend and become an ambassador instead.
Season One was something special, I actually kind of miss its insanity.

I only watched it as a kid and then stopped watching when bronies started ramping up, but it is a genuinely charming show. It is nice that it developed such a large fanbase bc it is a wholesome show but some older fans really ruined the experience for the actual children.

Gotta say: the moment they empathize with Spike is absolutely the level of buy-in that created Bronies. You start out riffing and making fun. The longer you watch, the more invested and empathetic you become. It's crazy.
I know this show really sneaks up on people
this show is such a core part of my middle school life and i would revisit it every few years. the music in the fandom was all i listened to and the creepypastas banged. simpler times smh
OMG yay! I'm happy you guys made a reaction to MLP tbh
Out of all the shows you guys have watched.
This was not one I was expecting
Yes there are slaves and there are classes of ponies also yes spike dose get bothered by the term every pony sometimes and yes cloths are a special occasion type thing such as dresses for galas or aprons for cooking
Watching this brings back memories of watching new episodes at brony meets back in 2012-15. There was less talk about hussy than this, but other than that it's basically the same. You guys perfectly recreated OG brony vibes.
this was extremely entertaining to watch! i'd love to see you guys reacting to more mlp, trust me the show get's better as you progress. and even if it seems like a slow start your commentary is enjoyable nonetheless :)
oH bOY My favorite show
I still remember when I got into this in 2014. I was babysitting my friend’s kid and she wanted to watch this. So I watched it with her and it had my interest. I went home and start binge watching the episodes that were available on Netflix and then that’s when I was hooked. I watched the show all the way to the end and even the Equestria Girls series too.
I’ll admit that the friendship lessons are good for kids in the first few seasons, but then the story becomes more deep later on and feels like an actual show for all ages. Not saying it wasn’t from the beginning, but it became more in depth later in the seasons. Even so this was a good show and I recall all the memories of being a Brony and sharing it with others too.
“Jimin pony” was the best thing I’ve heard all day
Aww this brings back so many memories :) Do more!
I loved this when I was 13 and I finally finished the show last year. It's actually a really good show!
This show's fanbase could rival Sonic The Hedgehog with how many OCs people make.
exactly the reaction video i was waiting for
1:27 I thought he was gonna say " This is like touhou"
I love this show, and grew up with it! No regrets, all seasons are awesome.
They really did it
YES I’ve been waiting for you guys to watch this lol
