    Just a suggestion, alcohol prep pads. They help with nausea, just break one open and sniff it. I know it sounds weird, but it works. Ginger candies help too. Take good care. 🙏🏻💕

I was trying to figure out what all to bring with me since I'll be sitting in a recliner for ~8 hours a day per session. One of the first things I thought of was getting a tablet and some headphones, along with plenty of snacks.

Reduce your risk by cutting out all meat, dairy, milk, eggs etc. All the protein and calcium / nutrients you need can be obtained easily - better quality too - with a lifestyle based on plants, fruit, veg, juicing, legumes, beans etc etc. We have a lot more control over our health - and whether we get illnesses or not - than Big Industry (via constant subliminal advertising) has led us to believe! :-)

      I’m did very well with my first round of taxotere and cytoxan. I went for my second round today and had a reaction to the taxotere, which many people have with the second around. The session stopped immediately and they gave me first Pepcid, which didn’t help; then a steroid (in addition to the Decadron I take at home the day before, the day of, and the day after chemo); then finally Benadryl and that did the trick. My nurse sat with me once the taxotere infusion started because it does sometime cause side effects. For me it was flushing, difficulty getting a deep breath (tightness in my chest), and a little lower back pain. The whole time was maybe half an hour from the time it started until the Benadryl did its thing. There are other things they can do, including a desensitization to taxotere in a hospital setting - my understanding is that it’s a much llonger, slower administration. I’ll find out tomorrow what the plan is for my second session. I have felt very well all day and have had lots of energy. Another option for this reaction is to change the drugs but because I didn’t have side effects from taxotere and cytoxan after the first round, I would like to be able to stay with those drugs for the duration assuming they are able to eliminate the kind of reaction I had today. Aside from that, I have had no nausea and not much fatigue. I was very upset when I heard that Iwould 100% lose my hair but when it started to thin I went and got a short pixie cut. The following week, it started coming out in clumps and I had my head shaved. Once it actually began, I haven’t really minded. In fact, I’ve had a lot of good laughs over it. Truly - it’s just hair and will grow back. I have hats and beanies and 3 gorgeous wigs. Every little thing is gonna be all right. I will say that I don’t take nearly so much stuff with me to chemo - I don’t want to drag around that much stuff. I take a small notebook and pen, my iPhone because I only have WiFi on my iPad (and I could use the cancer center WiFi if I really wanted to take it), my own water bottle, sugarless gum, and that’s really about it. Best of luck with your treatments and don’t be afraid!! Find some humor if you can - it’s the best medicine. ❤️

      Hello! I’m sorry to hear you are on your second treatment, but happy no hair loss yet! Chemo absolutely cause neuropathy and can cause RLS. There are lots of natural supplements out there you can take to help with these things. My husband recently went through chemo for colon cancer and the neuropathy was no joke with that one! They say that applying ice to your feet and hands when the infusion is happening will help to block the neuropathy from happening due to vasoconstriction in those areas. If I remember correctly I tried it once but didn’t keep up with it. But that was 7yrs ago so not sure if that’s the case.

But the roommate brought him to the hospital when I was having surgery, and now this thing is my little "hospital buddy". Hey, whatever helps you get well, huh? 😁

    Thank you. I’m 65 and recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I had surgery Monday and go back to my doctor and surgeon on the 23rd. Will begin chemo shortly after. I do not know what to expect so your videos help quite a bot. I’m trying to find a gentle shampoo to use during and after chemo. Any suggestions?

      Hi Tammy! I am so sorry to hear about the diagnosis and pray you have a quick and easy chemo with full remission afterward. I like to use Shea Moisture products as they usually have good ingredients. And also have less cancer causing additives. Hopefully that helps!

      @@beedlejuice2324 thank you. My oncologist said it is stage 1 and very treatable. Like I said I’m recovering from the surgery now and not sure when I’ll start chemo. I’ve been researching a little by watching videos like yours that help a lot. I’ve heard to use a mild shampoo that is less likely to break the hair. This helps a lot.

    I'm having a port put in on the 23rd of this month, just been told I have cancer, I have no family support so this is going to be hard on me, it also has cancelled a trip I already bought and paid for last year, travel agency won't give me the money back so I lose $1100, ohh well, chemo once every 3 weeks for 3 months, then another ct scan, exam by oncology Dr. if tumor has shrunk, which I hope it does, surgery for a total hysterectomy sometime in September, am terrified, don't know how to deal with this, I'll be 49 August 1st, so NOT looking forwards to losing my hair, I have waist length hair, I have however bought 3 chemo hats for when the time comes that my long hair falls out and I'm bald as a qball, I don't know what to do, I will be bringing a few items with me, 1 is a weighted lap blanket due to how high my anxiety is, portable dvd player, my laptop, cell, all chargers, snacks...and my new water bottle I just bought because I'm a huge water drinker

    I have a question when you are getting chemo do you taste it? My sons getting a bone marrow transplant soon and will be getting chemo for ten days before hand and I'm curious if I should get him some candy so he can't taste it because I heard you can.

    • @beedlejuice2324
      @beedlejuice2324  Před 6 lety +1

      K first of all, I am so sorry to hear this about your son! Secondly, I didn’t taste the chemo, but you can taste the saline solution that they flush your port with.. did he get a port? Some people hated the flavor of it, but it didn’t bother me. Mints or gum are helpful, but make sure you aren’t giving him things loaded sugar as being on chemo and sucking on sugary things can lead to horrible decay (sorry, I’m a dental hygienist!). Let me know if you have any questions about that.

    • @ktm10593
      @ktm10593 Před 6 lety

      Actually thank you for letting me know that because he already has a lot of dental issues so I'm glad to know that candy would be a bad idea because I was definitely thinking of getting some and thank you. He hasn't got his port yet there going to place it in the day before we start chemo and he's admitted into the hospital. He has Myelodysplastic syndrome so there's no treatment for it other than the bone marrow transplant so he hasn't had to have a port yet as he hasn't had any medicines that he needed that frequently until transplant at that point they let me know he will need a lot of antibiotics and anti fungal and things until his immune system gets back up.

    • @ktm10593
      @ktm10593 Před 6 lety

      We were lucky enough to find cord blood match after about a month of searching the entire process has been very very difficult his mds had given him neutropenia so he's been out of school and getting his counts done weekly to bi weekly the doctors have explained how transplant will go but I'm still a little confused on how things with the port work and online you come across so many different things and comments from people on how things I'll taste or work or how chemo will go and all of that. He's only seven so my biggest worry with the port is him being able to taste what they put in it or the port completely freaking him out and him trying to pull it out I have such a phobia mind set that he's going to just try and yank it out in terrified !
