- The year is 1940. Puss in Boots has lived for way too long and Death (straight up) is coming for him again. Death finds Puss fighting for the Far Far Away Kingdom against the Farquaadist Reich and decides to use the most modern technology to make sure Puss surely dies this time.

The "Death Whistle" you hear here are the "Jericho Trumpets" that were placed on the German Junkers Ju 87 or Stuka dive bombers. The sound was created by propeller-driven sirens mounted on the undercarriage legs of the plane. Its purpose was to damage enemy morale through psychological warfare and it was quite effective at doing so early in the war, giving the Stuka a terrifying reputation. Later in the war, however, it was found that the sirens decreased the speed of the plane by 20-25 km/h, leaving it vulnerable to AA fire and enemy fighters. The Germans also realized that the sirens ruined the element of surprise by giving Allied soldiers an early warning. For these reasons, the sirens were removed from later models of the Stuka.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is a great movie. Please watch it. It's like Spider-Verse but with the Antonio Banderas cat from Shrek 2. Amazing animation + Amazing story. Can't wait for its Criterion Collection release.

@@vizonax It made the mistake to release the year where there were too many WW2 games coming out at the same time. Technically, this game could have a sign of being revived but only if popular influences help to promote it rather than following trends. And also if people making the effort to try older games more.

@@aarotron2189 Yep, that is true and I hear rumours after Insurgency Sandstorm or at the moment, there is currently a new game that possibly might be a WW2 theme, maybe a reboot of Day of Infamy in Unreal Engine but have to see where that goes.
Just sucks that many of the main OG Devs that started out from the first modded game who branded the company now left with other interests.
DoI is such an underrated game The sound design in this game is just incredible and can easily rival post scriptum or Hell let loose sounds

What I find very fitting about this is, that the sound of a diving Stuka truly was equivalent to the whistle of death for an average Polish/French/English man in the beginning years of ww2.

I miss playing Day of Infamy so much and Crete was my favorite map to play on.
I liked crete too but it's when your trying to attack the castle/fortress part where it kinda drags. Sometimes it's really immersive, sometimes I feel like it's almost always an easy defence
Oh my God, Day of Infamy was my go to game in 2018, the MG42 was by far the best gun. I love that game, I wish people still played.
