  • Foundry recently released an update to v11 that brought native backups to the VTT! This means that you now can easily within Foundry make backups of your game worlds, modules and game systems! No more manual backups! Mostly... Let me show you the details of this new feature and how to make backups within Foundry itself!

Great information as always Fondue! I am glad that Foundry added this basic feature for users, hopefully it ends up with less broken and lost worlds once 12 comes around. Since they didn't have this functionality up to this year, I built an (Unraid Linux) script to copy the entire server to my secondary Docker (Felddy) instance folder (clone prod to development). I run this after each campaign session (or as needed) so I can test out next weeks session scenarios ahead of time and adjust if needed, or to test out new modules, updates or settings.

Will you be making a foundry 12 video? I think it’s in beta now?

Eventually, yes! The first prototype of v12 is out now. If you want a deep dive on v12 features already, I did an interview with the creator of Foundry where we talked about many of the v12 features.

So, if I'm in the middle of (example) Warhammer campaign. To restore created scenes, created NPC's and PC's character sheets Im restoring World, system and modules? But all pic and sound still need to copy folder on my computer? Is that right? So, if making copies of folder is full backup- that means is better way still to do old way backup?

I’m not quite sure what you mean by your comment. If you use the built in backup system then yes, you should be able to backup all your worlds with their scenes, actors, items, macros etc. but you will need to back up images, videos, and sounds.
Details of the backup system are available here: foundryvtt.com/article/backups/
