Flat benching is a useful movement, especially for athletes. Saying it causes injury is pseudoscience. It’s just less efficient than benching with an arch.
@@gunnerjax9012 It's not pseudoscience, your shoulders weren't meant to take that much force. The whole purpose of the arch is the tuck the ball into the socket.
@@theweekendwarrior3504 Thank you. You're increasing the stress on the GHJ by not retracting your scapula back, the arch helps maintain postural position and is part of proper form, regardless of lifting purpose.

Yeah it depends on how you look at it and write the comment. I wrote a comment saying how much I bench and how old I am, and I also said how much other 15 year olds bench on my team. I also said in my comment that I didn’t comment that to brag or talk shit but to show him the work he has ahead of him and to show him where he is at with other kids.
I deadlift like 100
I wouldn't call it a fail, especially for a 15 y/o. There's full grown men who can't do 185.
Let him come to our school gym then the coaches will have him there after a week shoot there are freshman that bench 225 one is up at 230 and one squats 400
@@willbuckner2352 what school gym are you going at mine the strongest guy can bench 225 and he is a junior weighing 200 pound I like to think I’m the strongest one there because I bench 205 at 150 bw and I’m a sophomore for anyone reading this don’t believe this guy he is completely wrong only freshman benching 225 are in college unless they have insane genetics and been lifting for sometime now it’s definitely not the norm
@@guhmpy1164 it’s not uncommon. I got 205 when I was 15 weighing in at 135. And there were other freshmen pushing up 235-250. They weighed like 50 lbs more than me. Most I got was 245 weighing 150 when I was 20 , and squatted 405 fully parallel
@@guhmpy1164 what school do you go to bro?.. lol I agree with it not being common for freshman not benching 225 , I do know some but it’s not the average . I mean I played football and I was lifting 265 junior year at 150lbs . Maybe it varies between schools but 225 was definitely not the limit for bench
Most full grown men cant bench 135
Also 15 years old, started July of 2023 at about 85, now in March my pr is 155. Keep going.
The strongest I ever was, was my freshman year where I was able to max out at 205lbs for one rep, weighing 140lbs. Keep up the great work you’re clearly very capable and strong.
That’s really good for your weight 🤙🏿
Absolutely zero setup. If he could find someone who knows what they're doing to give him a little coaching he'd be away.
Literally the first thing I thought was why is the bar so high, there’s no way he’s gonna get it racked after a rep
@@HazyEmpathy true he needs thst bar a little lower
This is a fixed setup, there are only two different heights for the bar, the lower would definitely be less helpful than the one that’s higher than ideal
@@sfletcher852 I'm not talking about the rack height. I'm taking about his poor form.
@@scslre he's probably replying to @The Un-original
He is young. He will be lifting a crap ton of weight if he sticks to it. I'm 31 and after my first year 200ish was my max. I wish I started 16 years ago I'd be a beast.
@HYPERBOREAN IMMORTAL I’ve never taken steroids and I bench 340x1
@HYPERBOREAN IMMORTAL Clap clap... clap... cla...
@HYPERBOREAN IMMORTAL so you mean you take roids cause you are stong?
Excuse
@HYPERBOREAN IMMORTAL 340 is not strong??? Dude have you ever been in a gym before? 340 may be attainable for someone who is natural but very few would actually get that far. 340 is very very strong for someone who doesn't take gear and is rarely seen to benched in most gym's with day to day normal people.
Bro keep grinding hard and you'll end up farther from where you want to be , achieve and thrive from greatness .
I remember when 185 used to like 315 Keep grinding 💪
He’s got the good negative and a solid build. Definitely stronger than I was at 15 and even 16
Good call, based on the negative I thought he had it.
By next week easily. The most I did when I was 15, was 165 back in 1983. My best was 325 when I was 20. Now in 2021, it is looking like 165.
Keep going you will have 2 plates in about year, for sure.

If you keep doing this great work you would be able to make it bro!Keep grinding
All I could manage at 15 was 115lbs. Even being able to attempt 185lbs is impressive!
No, your not average then
@@hermanbautz6846 Never said I was?
Bro that’s it?
@@ebb8487 yep
Im doing 115 at 12
Tried it safely, with a spotter and good form. Keep pushing kid. One day you’ll break through that number and more
Good form lmao
Yeahhh kudos to him for getting an early start and glad he had a spotter but that was not good form.
Hit 185 for my first time at 21. Kid is gonna be a beast. Keep up the good work.
Dudes going to be huge in his prime
This kid reminds me of myself when I was 15. Keep going at it man!
Good for him. He did his best and didn’t let his doubts get in the way until he realized he had to stop. I’m glad most people are cheering him on.
With proper technique he'll more than likely hit that 185
Nah he's a failure.
@@NeuronActivation yeah, I can realistically see him hitting that PR in a few months’s work. Definitely achievable for his size
Respect he got down there and pushed himself. Hell get that in no time 🙌
He didn’t fail, he did good
Not exactly a fail. We will see him in 5years time with a “transformation video”
😂😂😂
1 year lol
He’ll have to share his “diet”
@@MoodyMMA chicken tendies and milk lmao
It actually IS a fail though. He failed to lift the weight back up. I think he’ll get there eventually, but it’s good to not sugarcoat everything.
you'll be benching 315 by the time you're in college, kid. don't give up, you'll be a beast in no time
No way. I was at the same strength level as this kid at 15, and I was snaller. Now I can probably go for 2 plates only. 315 is outrageous.
@@dagtheking5739 I was doing the same thing and I got 315 by junior year of college
@@AT-qx8oo I was about to say man... if you didn't add "college"...
In 5 years he's going to be benching 315
His back was pretty much flat the whole time
@@HEDWARDMUSIC NOOO!!!
It's not impossible to bench well with a flat back, arch is mainly pursued by powerlifters for maxing out..
This isn't a fail. A, the kids at the gym, B, he's obviously trying a weight he hasn't attempted before, regardless of how much, so good on him. I hope he keeps trying and one day he'll be repping that shit no prob.
if you cant lift a weight, how do you call it if not failure?
There is nothing wrong with the word "failure" but an attempt can either be suceeded or failed.
Quite simple, don't make it complex.
Actually it's a complete fail. He doesn't even need to be maxing with a weight he can handle, much less with one he can't lift. He's headed for snap city and you are encouraging him.
@@jasonk876 yeah man, you are totally right, but on CZcams if you say such statement you are considered "hater" or "skinny". Once I criticized some dirty pull ups (which were also few, like 6/8 consecutive) and a guy self proclaiming an Olympic athlete start saying I was a failure and I never trained throughout my whole life lol
So here you'd better say "man that was good, probably you can easily lift 200 pounds" lol
@@federicodigioia4463 LOL. I knew you were trying to be a good dude, but honestly there is absolutely no reason for most people to max. I used to be obsessed with my max. I tweaked my shoulders a few times and I really wasn't that strong anyway. Sometimes you just need to understand your limitations. So, I started injecting test and gave up on that maxing BS😉. I rarely go as low as 6 reps. Now I'm bigger and stronger than ever. How much can I bench? I have no idea and don't care. Nobody else cares either. I wear the same shirts, but now my shoulders fill them out and some of my sleeves fit tight. Also, my joints & tendons don't hurt.💪😉👍
@@jasonk876 You should work close to your 1RM only with adeguate planning and solid technique. Most of people don't have any technique and often work with weights they are far from managing. But... on CZcams you must be politically correct and tell everyone they are strong and great, no matter what lol
I rarely try my max too (moreover I practise calistenichs were there are multiple max: some with weights, some are total count rep, and some are just seconds while keeping a position like a planche/FL or whatever). It makes sense to monitor you progress, although it's quite stressing and if you abuse it's hard to see improvements for most
Keep up the awesome work man!💪🏼🔥
I couldn't bench 185 at 15, and ended up playing D1 football. Keep working on getting better. 👍
I just started my powerlifting journey and all these videos just motivate me to push harder, had a near accident today while attempting to bench but hey, that doesn't mean I won't try or even improve tomorrow, you gotta start somewhere, consistency and patience is the key!❤
These guys aren’t his friends, hope he gets a good squad that’s in his corner. Highschool sucks
Ik right they just took the video to make fun of him
“Yeaaaaah sophomore benching 185” that guys a douche
your acting like the did it without him knowing smh💀
They just joking around stop feeling bad for him cause he missed a lift he’ll get there .
Shutup man, you don't know their circle or the type of humour they share, get over yourself you must not have friends.
With this music in the background I wouldn't even press 10 kg XD
You would do better than me.
I just turned 16 and last week I benched my first 180, keep going bro, you're a champ
Honestly it's nice to see an ACTUAL 15 year old and not one of these shredded riverdale fashion models for a change...
We all start somewhere. Keep trying and you will progress my dude ✊🙏❤️
soon you’ll be over head pressing that weight g💪🏽
Remember when I couldn’t unrack 135 let alone 185. 3 years later hitting 185 for reps. You’ll get there my guy
Ay man, at least he tried. Now hes got a goal.
You live and you learn. Just give him positive reinforcement and make him encouraged to train for that 185lb.
Good job bro keep grinding you will get there
Keep workin bro!!! 💪🏽
He didn’t fail. He is at the gym, trying! Doesn’t matter if you lift more or lift less, being there trying is a whole lot more than most people are doing.

He literally couldn’t get the weight off his chest that’s a fail but he is trying

It's okay. He'll try again and again and again and eventually succeed.
Go on man, you’ll get there if you put in the work. Great effort.
No shame in trying young man.
Keep pushing, you’ll only get stronger from here.
I could do that weight at his age but I also started exercising pretty seriously at age 7 so by that logic it took me 8 years to get strong enough. Patience is indeed a virtue.

Spotter looks like he’s getting ready for match at the US open 😂
Aye yall can’t lie tho, if he worked on his form that weight woulda came up
0 chance, he needs a lot of work but can hold 185 for a second
You might be right, bruh is that even good genetics though doing that at 15 lmao I can do more at 15 that's why I wanna know
@@lawrence675a i think its good genetics. Im 16, i do calisthenics and have never benched but i can barely do 15 unweighted chinups in a single set while being ~120lbs. Id consider myself to have average strength genetics
@@mnywise that’s literally what I said lmao I said if he worked no his form he’d be able to press it, lmao why do you say “0 chance”
Definately. The boys form needs a lot of work. That alone will reward a lot of strength
I was honestly expecting a meme where the bar drops straight down and crushes his chest. He's a lot stronger than 99% of guys his age and even some a few years older than him. He just needs to build strength at the bottom concentric movement pressing up, then he'll be on his way
idkkkk ab 99 percent 😂 i’m 15 125llbs 5’5 and bench 205 and on my football team i’m on the lower end of my age
@@jakelaquay72 how many 15 year olds around the world, or even in just North America, play football and have proper weightlifting training? Thats the average MAN, aka someone at least 18 years old! Do you really think 99% of 15 year old boys can bench press anywhere close to that of a fully grown man?
