I assume that the Witch of Envy showed up because Subaru managed to freely talk about Return by Death (we see a shadow hand reaching out toward the start of the episode). But your theory linking it to being envious of the other Witches is interesting too.
It's amazing how Subaru isn't in the Fetal position, mentally broken. That boy is getting maimed or killed damn near every other episode. You can't help but admire his conviction and resolve.

There is no real answer yet for Emilia for anime only fans, I don't know how much LN people know and hope they don't spoil things =). Spoilers: Basically, if he’s satisfied with the way he dies, and Satella considers him a lost cause, she’ll let him die a final death. So if he doesn’t want to redo his life as he dies of old age, Satella is likely to accept that.
We were told in Season 1 that Satella is immortal and her flesh couldn't be destroyed, so instead she was sealed away by the first Sword Saint (Theresia and Reinhard's ancestor), a Dragon (protects the nation from far way), and a Sage (not revealed yet) working together.
This is the part of the season where there’s a ton to keep track of. And I think you guys are doing pretty good with that. There’s some things later that are changes or cuts from the novel. And I’ll point those out when they come, since there’s no way for anime onlies to know. But I’m really enjoying your reactions!
i'm sure the curse can be removed by a witch, but Reinhard definitely has the abilities to actually completely kill him for real. The 2 strongest in the series are Satella and Reinhard and they have like a mutual relationship to avoid killing each other and keep the other person well behaved.
I know this isn’t exactly the same scenario but this happened in Lost In Memories, he lived 20 years after episode 15 and then died, returning to the beginning at the apple stand

I hate Re:zero season 2 half of it is them talking to witches the entire time and the other half is lame flashbacks /backstory. It's the most boring season i've ever seen

I believe backstory/flashback is bad story writing, I believ the pacing sucked, I believe everything that made season 1 good was taken away from season 2 such as the psychological and thriller aspect of it and a lot of the mystery too, I believe that rem was a large factor of what made season 1 so good and they got rid of rem too, I believe the goal of season 2 was to save rem and they never did during season 2.... the only edgy people are the ones like yourself who can't handle when someone dislikes your favourite anime so you say the same unoriginal comments like "you must be edgy or you don't care about plot/story"... I'm an author myself I know how to write a good story and what bad story writing is.
