From 1961 (start of PF production) until 1968 (production of an export M variant), 21s also didn´t have gun (PF, PFS, PFM, R, and S variants). PFM and S introduced possibility of carrying GP-9 gun pod from 1966/67, so...Fishbed shared the "no gun period" of production with Phantom. But I think that MiG was better in maneuvrability, which is (what a surprise) very important even in rocket only era. That war was about IR Sidewinders and their russian R-3 copies. Reliability of Sparrows and Falcons of that era was...well...how to say that :D On the other hand, Phantoms, originally carrier borne fighter, was much more friendly to the pilot during landings (PF variant of MiG being known as very tricky with its landing speed of almost 340kph). And we also have to mention by far the biggest advantage of F-4 in aerial fight - second member of the crew. And now we can start discussion about electronic equipment of both jets...which is going to be very, very short with clear winner.

MIG 21 zaveden do výzbroje na konci roku 1961 ve verzi MIG 21F výřazen v červenci 2005 ve verzi MIG 21 MFN. Celkem převzalo letectvo 467 jednadvacítek všech verzí a bylo ztraceno při leteckých nehodách a katastrofách 106 letadel při kterých zahynulo 42 pilotů.

No disrepect to Czech Pilots but our Indian MiG 21 pilots were one of the first to use it against American built aircraft. Indian MiG-21 shot down Pakistani F-86 and F-104 starfighter with ease...!!! Now Indian air force has retired the MiG 21 in favour of new jet fighters like HAL Tejas (Which we developed in-house), Dassault Rafale and Sukhoi Su-30.
You realise you are bragging about a MiG 21 shooting down an aircraft that literally can go half it's speed and was not designed to fight something like a 21. V sobotu v 8,00 a v pondělí ve 14,00, nezasloužil by si takový film nějak vyznamější vysílací čas než jako tomu je protože programové schéma sestavují pacifisté. O tomto filmu pro děti byla zmínka jenom v časopise Letectví a Kosmonautika jinak asi nikde.

Hi, Bis version was the last and never served in the Czech Air Force. However, the differences will not be visible on the model. The most modern MiG-21 in the Czech Air Force was a version of the Ministry of Finance from the mid-1970s modernized in the 1990s by a Czech upgrade to the NATO standard. These MiGs were then referred to as MFN versions.
MiG-21MF visually has little to none difference compared to MiG-21bis. You can build up a MiG-21bis model and print it as Czech MiG-21MF, no problem. The MF has different cockpit to MiG-21bis. Technically MiG-21MF is a MiG-21M with different radar and different engine. The MF has same radar as MiG-21PF, which is step down from the MiG-21M, however MF has new engine the R-13-300, compared to the previous R-11F2C-300 of MiG-21M. R-13-300 well known is the best engine of MiG-21 Family. Same R-13-300 is used in MiG-21UM the last modification of the two seater. MiG-21MF has no visual difference to MiG-21bis from the first series, but MiG-21bis from 2nd latest series 1982-3 has a visual difference at the none moveable part of the cockpit canopy. Bulgarians have both 1st and 2nd series of MiG-21bis and difference is visible. MiG-21bis has another R-25 engine, 2nd staged afterburner, and different radar. Also the MiG-21bis uses RSBN navigation system while MiG-21MF is on RSP-10. Romania has just taken out of service their MiG-21M and MiG-21MF’s. M and MF have no visual difference. in Bulgarian Air Force fleet the first MiG-21M enter service in 1969-1970. Followed by MiG-21MF in 1974-1975. MiG-21bis has been massively delivered second hand and brand new build ones in 1982-1984. Have no idea why Czech Air Force have had only up to MiG-21MF, but they have used it up to 2004 and but later I think. In Bulgaria MiG-21bis was in service up to Dec.2015, when retired mainly due to political reasons’s led to poor/none logistic financial support for spare parts, tires, and parachutes needed. I think Czech Air Force also had MiG-21F-13, MiG-21PF, MiG-21PFM and MiG-21MF during the 70-80’s. For sure this video is really good, one of the best MiG-21 videos over the net.

Well, at least we have some nice footage, most of the eastern-block cold war era videos are of such a poor quality... and as a bonus at 2:45 I think we can see 50% of our whole air-force of that time - in one shot :).

Kind of weird how people living in oppressed places often seem to have way more actual liberty in their lives. Want to build a new house? Go for it. Want to drive a bare truck frame around with an engine and some seats? Why would anyone care? Want to crowd 40 people into a truck to travel to town? Thats your business. Want to sell some food by the road to make a little income? Who would have a problem with that? These poor people don't know about the blessings of licensing, zoning, regulations, taxation, safety codes, and the other trappings of liberty and freedom.😢

Viděl jsem dokonce Mig-21, který měl české znaky přelepené rudýma hvězdama. Ty v USA více "táhnou" . No a pro někoho to byl dobrý kšeft...
Tak tady je ten film co točili s 21 před jejich vyřazením. To se zase zaplatili desítky milionů z fondu České kinematografie natočil se film a ten skončil nějakém archivů ukryt před běžnými diváky.
because our army is ruled by politics which have shit instead of brain , they retired Mig-29s because they were much more expensive to maintenance than 23 and 21 , and they dont see their how good they are they see only money. 21 were retired because they reached their maximum age and garance for drag, in that time we dont have any others so we buy gripen. Geting new engines from Russia is dificult, Slovakia after split up left their 29s and they have big problems now to get new parts for them

Nemáme ani jedu 21 na letovou ukázku na letecký den,to jsme to dopracovali...
Místo toho,aby tyhle mašiny přišly do muzea kam patří,tak se sešrotovaly,když jsem to viděl jak je rozřezávají,srdce bolelo
Přitom při rozumný modernizaci do kompatibility NATO mohly kusy s nízkým náletem sloužit dodnes..!Jde o avioniku, né o výkony.
Neboj...v USA jich mají stále letuschopných hodně. Dokonce už provozují i Mig-23UB 👍🏻 Ex.8107 ... původně českou. Tak alespoň tak 🛩️❤️

@@Bluesky363 ...a proto píšu, že v USA jich mají dost. Osobně jsem viděl v autobazaru v Oregonu Mig-21 na podstavci a ejhle, české výsostné znaky !!! Mimo těch, co skončilo ve sběrně ( viděl jsem ty smutné fotky ) jich valná většina putovala do zahraničí. Něco do muzeí, něco stále létá. Viděl jsem dokonce Mig-21, který měl české znaky přelepené rudýma hvězdama. Ty v USA více "táhnou" . No a pro někoho to byl dobrý kšeft...

Tak tady je ten film co točili s 21 před jejich vyřazením. To se zase zaplatili desítky milionů z fondu České kinematografie natočil se film a ten skončil nějakém archivů ukryt před běžnými diváky.
