  • Who’s the GOAT in every position?
When it comes to football discussions, none are more fierce than the GOAT debate.
Everyone has their opinion and it’s impossible to prove who’s right and who’s wrong - apart from those who pick Nicklas Bendtner as the best ever.
But how about the GOAT in every position? Well, that’s a little more straightforward. There are still complications in comparing across eras, but at least we can contrast players who had similar roles and duties.
So, without further ado, who’s the GOAT in every position?

With a player like Marco Van Basten, you've got to simply look at what he achieved by the age of 28! To go up against that calibre of defence in Serie A and do it at the level he did was unthinkable at that time. He could honestly do anything and one of the most unselfish forwards that the beautiful game has ever seen. He scored close to 300 goals without ever being 100% fit!

You hugely disrespected the defensive work of both Iniesta and Xavi by saying that Messi could be considered in the same level as them as a central midfielder. For a central midfielder defensive attributes are almost as important as attacking attributes, they are the ones closing passing lines, pressing in the midfield which forces opponent to play on the edges of the field. But generally defensive workrates of these players are very underrated and that is why the answer is No. Messi doesnt do what Xavi and Iniesta did for Barcelona. Messi right now does what Maradona have done in his career which is CAM position - attacking midfielder
