    4 tests:
    1. ULTT1 test
    2. cervical rotation(positive if less than 60 degree)
    3. distraction test(supine)
    4. spurling test

    I have a c5/6 fusion and 30+ year old open shoulder Mumford and Weaver-Dunn. I think those tests would be too painful to even put myself in the proper position. My neck hurts already just lifting my chin a bit.

    1:38 why lateral rotation ?
    2:50 for distraction
    Therapist position
    Sitting or standing
    Which will be best ?

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  Před 5 lety +2

      Maximal tension on the brachial plexus and position for distraction doesn't matter

    Great video and ways to test the Cervical. Do you have a video on how to fix these problems of numbness and tingling. Please advise what to do once I find positive test results.

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  Před 5 lety +4

      There is no strong evidence for physiotherapy/manual therapy.
      There is weak evidence for nerve mobilizations (watch our video for this) and some patients seem to benefit from McKenzie exercises.
      Advice should be given that the prognosis is favorable: 55% report being recovered after 6 months and 12 months (Sleijser-Koehorst et al. 2018) and they should avoid provocating movements that cause radiating pain in the arm.
      Rest of the treatment should be focused on negative prognostic factors for recovery/impairments like decreased cervical ROM, decreased mobility in the thoracic spine, decreased control and endurance of the deep cervical flexors.

    How about a gentlemen experiencing ULTT triggers but none of these items reproduce symptoms, even with flexing of neck. Persistent pain/tingling at rest with numbness in fingers during ULTT, MRI does not indicate significant findings for CR. EMG positive for either c6/7 radic. but performing dr believes it to actually be a brachial plexopathy. Pt has had recurrent symptoms for years.

    Hi Physio Tutors,
    habt ihr eine Idee warum "nur" der ULNT 1 und nicht noch 4 für Nervenwurzelkompression C8-TH1 mit dabei ist? Beste Grüße

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  Před 4 lety +1

      Das liegt meist am statistischen Model. Es wird die beste Kombination von Tests errechnet basierend auf individuellen Resultaten.

  • @matheobourgeoisrepublique3206

    thanks ! Please the cluster is an inclusion or exclusion test ?

    I find it hard to understand why someone with cervical radicular syndrome can have a positive ULTT

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  Před 4 lety +6

      Same as why someone with lumbar radicular syndrome will likely have a +ve SLR.
      Placing the nervous tissue under tension will provoke the nerve root as well.
