Let me know if you want to see more videos like this!
Yes! That'd be awesome. It's really interesting.
I like the video! i think it would be a nice addition if you would show the timeline of the game.
Oof, I just had a Korea game and didn’t go crazy like that guy.
I’d be mid because it’s like 1700 and I still haven’t completed my gov reforms😂
It would be interesting to be critiqued.
My previous Orleans run was way better.
no
I do 😎
I like this format! This would be interesting to see monthly or semi-monthly.
Bet
Wait, is semi-monthly two times a month or every two months?😮
@Mrbird-pw2mg Semi-monthly is twice a month. Bi-monthly would be every other month!
Edit: Cards on the table, I got it wrong the first time lol
@@gannonpatton2858 bi means two so bi-monthly is two times a month but semi is like sometimes so every other month or so i thought (unless ive been lied to my whole life)
25:02 Not picking Representatives of the Crown as the mandate holder while also having a massive tributary swarm is criminal
23:06 Brittany: Exists
Korea save guy: And I took that personally
Brittany's ruler committed a Faux Pas. He said K-pop is not real music.
suggestion for next time - show the timeline! I'd love to see the progression of how these empires expanded and all
+1
Yess
I was super confused about Korea's AE...until I saw they tributaried France
Yeah...that makes sense
Spain is next :)
@@spudzzy0373 GIGACHAD AE is just a number
Prob soon becominng a vassaliage and anexed to reform france and conquer europe :)
@@spudzzy0373 You're going for World tributary aren't you? I think RH missed that idea. yeah, that many tribs makes trade meaningless in your income
@@ruffusgoodman4137 I started playing tall, took the mandate and then had fun seeing who i could trib. No real end goal to the campaign
Thanks for the review. It was my first time playing as Ryukyu and I wanted to see how far into the game I could go if I only had the Ryukyu area and Taiwan stated. I am aware of The Three Mountains achievement but I wasn't going for it in this playthrough. As for the alliances, I did have an alliance with Shun but they refused to join my latest war against Wu so that's why it looks as though I didn't have many allies.
A fun idea to continue this series would be to optimize someone's save. Nothing too crazy or time consuming, but kinda like the opposite of a disaster save. Make somebody OP
I'd love this just because I'd love to receive an op save😃
I guess he is not doing that because Zlewikk already has a "Fixing your ruined campaigns" series.
That would be nice, he is giving those pointers like priviliges and trade so maybe select them and then show the difference in income and such.
I enjoyed the save game review. Would also be cool to tell people to post a single campaign with multiple saves ie one at 1500, 1600 and one at 1700 or something and have that be a single video OR have everyone play a single nation or some other fun challenge
Damn, my austria to sardinia to prussia to russia campaign where i ended up as 1st gp but only 4 provinces would've been great for max confusion
Send it lol
Some people just want to watch the world burn.
W H A T
@AHappyCub triple the rome, and possible set up for a future WC run,
10% admin efficency and I think it was up to 85% CCR, it was ridiculously quick to core
Love to see these videos, Hawk. I like that some of them are weird flexes (Korea) and some show legit areas where the player could use improvement. Makes me think about ways I can be better
Definitely love this, your vidoes of course are always helpful and insightful but since it's alwyas focused on early game it leaves the ends always ambiguous so it's nice to see your views on timeframes
I like this format, you should do it more often, like one or two videos per month. Reviewing different countries at different years might help some people (including me) to optimize their game, or see what they are doing wrong and what they should improve on.
Just so you know there is a player map mode that fills in the map only with the player country and their subjects, makes it very easy to tell how much of the map is under control
I like this format
you pointed what should be better
It was fun, as the other comments pointed out, some precise advice would be interesting, just to learn more about the game around the 1550 up to 1650-1680ish period which is usually not covered much in youtube videos.
Super cool new serie ! An idea for improvement : you could ask the players to write you down a letter where they explain what they intended to do on their campaign.
I’m sure it’ll help you judging what they just achieved
I'm the one who did the Korea game and it started off as a playing tall, no expanding outside of the mission tree until I vassalised a broken Ming and took the mandate a long way into the game which snowballed into getting as many tribs as possible. The single provinces in Africa and Brittainy was me getting charter companies to "reverse colonise" into Europe. What started off as a relaxed tall Korea turned into a "fuck it who can I force tributary on" which was quite fun. I'll fix the trade situation once I tributise Spain though since I 100% missed the trade route that feeds the Phillipenes to Beijing.
That's because there isn't one, hawk messed up.
Philippines feeds into Malaccas which feeds into bengal and south africa. There's no way to get the trade over to canton from there.
Edit: Weeeelllll actually, it's not impossible to get trade from PH to Beijing, but you have to take control of both Hawaii and Japan trade nodes. There's no way to get from PH to Canton
Getting full japan would be good as it feeds a lot of income, Beijing as an early end node is kinda okayish but after some time maybe it would good if you moved your end node to the malaccas, if you conquered all of it, I always do that playing as Japan as its a nice node that you can control. Another thing I could recommend is doing a bit more trade companies, being in the subcontinent of far east, its really easy to get 3 or 4 extra merchants and you dont need to go full trade company, just having 1 or 2 states fully as trade company is enough to get the merchant, sorry if you didnt wanted the advise, i just couldnt stop myself hahaha.
@@jesusmartinez2803true, but I was basing it off what they already had
@@CSDragon basing us in what they already had it was matter of dancing a bit with some trade companies to get some extra merchants and try to steal some money from other nodes and keep Benjing as end node, Philippines wouldnt help that much with trade as you said, unless they had more control in the malaccas
yeah these videos are pretty fun, the timeline being shown at the end would be pretty cool as well
Let's just take a moment to appreciate how Red Hawk has improved so much at making videos along his journey, as well as putting out top-quality videos on a regular basis . Easily top 3 content creator of PDX-related games out there 🐐🐐🐐
Agreed 🐐
He is definitely better than the romanian
I love the reviewing. It lets people measure themselves, but also might show you some interesting twists as well. I've a few really good early start games that are very interesting...
You should've checked development, the first save looked like it had insane dev
This was a great idea! I'd love to see more videos like this. Maybe with an appeal for advice... "How do I break up these uber-powerful alliances that are preventing me from expanding" or such.
you can play timelaps of campane
in the up right corner is eye button you can click, on the left from the date
I liked this a lot. Please continue. It is a super opportunity to learn how to play better the end game. This is a topic you don't talk a lot in your standard videos.
"This person tributaried F R A N C E"
I would love to see more of these with the timeline showed too
Awesome video, make more like these!
Very interesting video, appreciate it 👍
Hi, your guides are always clear, doable by other players :), so I turn to you. I have often trouble with govcap. When and why should I centralize state?
Regarding what you said at the beginning, I personally would love you to do a "saving eu4 games"
I love this format. I just did my first successful iron man save with Munster and would love for it to be reviewed as I have no idea how good it was and what could be improved.
You should do more like this, it was great! Btw, how big should stacks be? Shoukd they be like around forcelimit before tech 7 and then forcelimit plus a bit (a quarter or so) in terms of infantry (or cav-only cav nations or generally good to have a few and if so how much (percentage?)?) And forcelimit as well of cannons? Or something else? (Sorry if structure confusing lmao)
I like this idea.
If you do this again, it might be beneficial to get a brief description of the save from each submission.
Emphasis on BRIEF
Was a fun video! I’ll need to get one reviewed
I'm upset I missed the call, I'd love to show you my Mutapa run that is nearly a world conquest.
You can't steer from the Malacca to the Being node. Thats the Siam arrow to Canton you're looking at. If you want Philippines to go to Being you go via the Polynesian Triangle to Nippon, which I don't know how contested that one is in his game with 3 outgoing arrows. It might make more sense to collect. If you play in Asia you want to control the Mallaca node the most. The 2 outgoing stream (1 has to be discovered, practically making it 1) it's why you can be a monster trade power early when you start in the Mallaca node.
This is fun, you should do more!
Good idea. Not many people commented how you play
Redhawk!
I would.actuslly be for starting a series with community contributors according to a theme.
Give two weeks notice that you'll post and review the top 10 campaigns according to a theme.
Top 10 weirdest campaigns
Top 10 cursed culture/religious conversions
Top 10 cursed border gore
Top 10 alt history paths
Top 10 "wrong" campaigns (e.g. focusing on Europe as Castille)
Top 10 funniest reversals
Top 10 vassal swarm (no HRE)
Top 10 fastest snake to connect Lisboa + Pyongyang + Cape by land
Etc etc etc
that Bohemia could be way more optimized, but was one of the best, I like this format, it would be nice if you keep doing it, it would be nice if you could also give a bit more focused advise as it seems all these saves are more from newbies.
hey I was the bohemia player. I wasnt planning on optimizing during the run. I role played a lot. it is why I took up religious and I stayed Hussite all the way
After watching this, I've been convinced to play it
Please do more of these.
Saxony gets a free pu on poland, but often only quite late, so it was probably too late to integrate them
bro on germany playing till 1809 has my respect, my longest save game in 1300 hours is till 1746 and it was when i still had around 400
Man I wish I saw this so i could participate with either my najd or Ming wc setup
We need more of this
Something I've heard RedHawk mention in his videos is along lines of building production buildings based on what trade good the province makes, not mentioning the income provided which is based on dev. I'm not sure I follow that, since a shitty 3 dev province might have silk but if I'm never going to dev it why spend the ducats on it instead of the +0.3 grain. It adds to trade node value, but again it's really crappy production in the first place.
This was interesting, and I watched it all. But I far prefer A-Z and Releasables. I don’t believe this has a place as regular content, but more as the occasional one off
I liked it, maybe select multiple saves from 1 nation and see how people play the same nation.
Tbh... I like the Ryukyu campaing xD Sometimes I just want to play for fun, not goals, not optimal choices, just play, and if a feel that I want to be alie with a random small indonesian kingdom... I just do it, small expansion? That's Ok, horrible religion choices? I'm fine with it xD I don't know if that's the player way of thinking or if he is simply new at the game, but I realy like it
Yeah, it was my first time playing as Ryukyu so I went for a more story driven timeline. I wanted the Ryukyu Kingdom to be a highly trade focused state with a small population. Over time, depending on the rulers the political outlook of the kingdom would change. In fact, the latest king was an expansionist and conqueror which resulted in Ryukyu suddenly abandoning its policy of creating a trade empire in favour of directly expanding into the fractured lands of China.
I’d love to see a disaster save video for Ryukyu
Naval hegemony helps armies a ton
I don't know why did Korea player go for "Stability hit to declare war -1" and not give out invards perfection priviledge to the estates
I kinda forgot that it existed
I would assume the Bohemia player has swapped out some idea groups hence the weird order of those.
this teaches players to look at things they can improve on, big fan. On the Korea game most trade there goes over seas so trade ideas would be a mistake maritime would be better. maritime will help naval tradition which in turn gives 1% trade steering for every 1 naval tradition you have which is one if not the most important trade modifiers. Having extra merchants in trade nodes u have 0 power in wont help.
It's not about with the content of the video but can you tell me how you put your moustache into that shape? I am growing my moustache first time ever and want the curved/pointy end moustache but can't do it.
I guess u should also show timelapse. thanks for video)
Love this video format, Ill have to submit my ottoman WC, id love to see what your suggestion for further improvement would be
I have a Great Britain run right now in 1698 but every time I try to play it I feel like the Harkonens.
I got into it yesterday and declared war on a 2500 dev ottoman and beat the daylights out of them just for giggles. Feelsbadman
If you go hussite I'd pick the hussite military government reform for +1 defender roll
Before jumping into conclusions about the Ryukyu player I would like to know his objectives. You know, going for TTM isn't mandatory if you start as Ryukyu. You can play EU4 with any objectives you like, you need just about enough skill to achieve those objectives. It isn't a requirement of EU4 to play optimal and be WC skill level..
Got me into the discord :)
Why is it a good idea to be spending most of income? Arent there situations where either you're too tall to spend it all or want to use a large surplus to build buildings in large quantities?
not hawk completely ignoring how powerful naval hegemon is
the ryukyu guy was just letting the ai play
I should send my current Portugal campaign. I own all of Europe (with PU over France and Poland - both forced - and Sweden as vassal), the majority of Africa and India (vassal Jaunpur) and all the colonial regions. I have around 7.5k income and around 2.5 million soldiers plus colonies. I make more than 5k with trade. Sevilla is my main trade node. I have max money as I don´t know how to spend more, as more troops would just mean worse game performance. I have townhalls and universities in every province. My ideas are Exploration, Expansion, Quality, Admin, Diplo, Influence, Humanist (for improve relations to integrate Poland and >100% overextension) and Offensive. I can´t be bordered to expand like crazy and do my third world conquest. I might unite Africa until I have integrated Poland. I´m going for the achievement "All blue".
There is no way to transfer trade from Malaca to Canton as far as i know
I´d be cool, even tho pointless i know, if you would also look at the "expansion routs" you know like could the beat their rivals, should they have waekned another nation so they´d be the strongest in a region, kinda what your gameplan would be even if its the 1800 and the game is almost over.
Now I wish I didn’t delete my old saves
4:30 Livers lmao.
Word Livre means book in French
Bro y you lookin like the villain from Kingsman 3 💀
I tried multiple times to understand how this game works but never manage to have a good nation😅 😂😂
If you want a challenge that truly test you and probably will make you suffer, disaster saves. Let people send you the worst saves possible and see how far you can go with it.
Bordergore good actually.
Why Ryukyu didn't went for shogunate?!
aw i missed it. wish i could've send mine
It is a new format that can be enjoyable but I think you spend too much time on the saves. I think 2-3 minutes per save would be better.
Yeah I do think I spent too long on them, I was trying to get through most of every aspect though, so that's around how long it took
@@TheRedHawk Yeah, I noticed, you tried to thorougly inspect most aspects and this is the first video of course. In the future, it could be quick-paced, general review of the saves, I think that would make it more engaging.
It's just my opinion of course, you do however you are comfortable with it.
How do i give you the saves?
Economic one is pointless especially once you max out your money.
1st game no diplo or court ideas? for shame
Did anyone else notice that the Korea save had a York on the throne?
Yeok, not York but I did think that too lmao
@@spudzzy0373 that messed me up lol
Do more !
what about get the worst save games and make it into 8 great powers
Spanish Greenland makes me strangely happy
Hyoid
holy shit you look French today
Ola! 😀🤘🏼
Livestream reviewing.
I think this is an interesting concept, but maybe spend less time on each one
You should not compare Ryuku with Korea, one starts as OPM the other one starts as decent big nation. So obviously you end up smaller.
Still, Im almost sure that Ryuku save could be way better and bigger than it was but yeah, it would be smaller but still was a bit lackluster, maybe a guy with not much experience playing an small nation
bald
bald
mald
MY EYES!
shave
Not a fan of this type of video
Boring format . You should try and fix disaster saves
Korea player not having all of China despite Unify China CB is insane
To be fair i wasn’t going for conquest until later in the game after I fed Ming it’s cores and got a bit distracted with making France a tributary
