My tip for the beginners is to watch carefully his left hand, and use the same fingers that he is using, and you'll be ok
also use and abuse the fact that you can slow down the video and remember a wise man once said:
separate and conquer!
Try to separe everything that you are having problem with, and train that apart , for example i was having a lot of trouble with the 12-14-12 thing, the sound was not coming off as it should, so i trained just that little part for hours

well this is my first real song ever on the guitar and also fingerstyle so 😅 a few years ago i played only some church songs bc i was in a schola (this church choir or whatever) but it was never serious and then i dropped the guitar for a long time. so yeah 😂

For anyone confused about 1:23, you have to strike the top 3 strings with your thumb coming at the E string a little bit from underneath it, what makes it sound like a bang is the string vibrating really hard
Once you get the hang of it its fairly easy

Как любитель всё это пишу. Ну и хороши сами табы (их рисунок): в хорошем смысле, жирные и контрастные, - всё предельно понятно.

Thank you so much for this. I've been playing amateur acoustic for the better part of 40 years and still struggle at times, finding tabs or trying to figure things out by ear. I wish I had your type of videos when I first started out, I would be WAY better at playing than I am now. Non players just don't know the time and effort you put into these tutorials, but I do. If your skill fine enough to play hammer, slide etc. , then your time for this will be limited only by mechanically memorizing the tabs Couple of hours, and then only grinding this shit for the best sound. (excuse my bad english)

Wow! You are the man! Also for absolute beginners, when you get to this part 0:47 .. The switch off,, hit that 2nd string on the 8th.. (8), it will buy you time to do that stretch on 7 n 10 ... focus on your ring finger to get to the 10th first then pinky, then pointer.. It will all fall into place.

Day 1 of learning this song: we've had an old guitar in the house for years, and even though my sis has an electric, nobody's really used it. Because I'm bored in quarantine and I don't want to be just a singer in music class, I'm going to try and learn this. So far I've got the bare bones of the first minute down, and I'm working on my pull-offs and getting the guitar to just "sound" right in the sense of how hard I'm supposed to strum to make the first note audible. Will keep this posted with updates every day; good luck to everyone else who's giving the song a shot

@@samirthegoat4305 yeah, it doesn't really matter what style you play in, my best advice is to stick to it and don't get upset when you suck. For me it took me a week to be able to play the harmonics of this song, but yeah fingerstyle is actually easier than strumming imo simply because it's more mechanical and you have more control. Good practice songs are this one, hallelujah, and for a slightly more difficult one hotel California (the eagles version), they all have different techniques and patterns so it trains your brain to learn specific songs rather than just repeat a rhythm. Hope this helped, good luck to you!

1:32. when you realize that the first 3 open strum pattern are shots being fired at you and the 4th shot pass just by your head as illustrated by the slide from 16 up to 12. its almost like the first 3 shots was shot in the open with no aim while the 4th was very well aimed at you.
