Michiko Koshino - 30 Years of Street Fashion

- Michiko Koshino is a Japanese fashion designer known for iconic 1980s and 1990s creations under her Michiko London label.
Michiko Koshino left Japan for London in the 1970s. She made fast friends with a group of creative people - musicians, artists, and designers - who would change the world with their creative vision in the 1980s.
Michiko launched her "Michiko London" fashion brand in 1986. Her bomber jackets, inflatable cat jackets, and other items quickly became icons of the 1980s London club scene. Michiko has been creating original street and club fashion ever since.
To celebrate Michiko London's 30th anniversary, Michiko will host a popup shop at the famous LaForet Harajuku department store - where she first opened a shop back in 1984 - from March 4 - 17, 2016.
We were lucky to sit down with Michiko and talk with her about her life and her love of street fashion.

+Azyah C If you're interested in her & her family, there's a Japanese drama based on her mother's life, it later also includes Michiko and her sisters (character names changed though, Michiko's character is called 'Satoko'), it's amazingly done and worth a watch!

I could understand pretty well, but it was easier when she was on-screen and you could lip read plus translate accents! Still, our languages are SO different, including basic sentence structure, that I commend anyone who gets this far!

I'm Japanese. I couldn't speak English. I chose to study by myself without relying on people. Clothes change depending on the person who wears them, and enjoy fashion. The combination of patterns is really fun
I'm Japanese, but I've made friends regardless of nationality. How to combine expensive clothes and easy clothes to make them look fashionable. It's fun and unique to wear clothes.
