Having Pokémon evolve during battle would actually be kinda cool as an option to turn on or off.
The idea of almost losing a battle but pulling a reversal when your starter learns their signature final evolution move
I always liked the idea of pokemon evolving during battles ever since I started watching the anime. It would be neat if we could pull an Ash Ketchum clutch on a random trainer npc.

Pokemon Adventures (especially Sapphire's battle against Brawly) seems to suggest Pokemon get a power boost specifically when they evolve, so this feature could both provide more casual players exciting unexpected moments and give more experienced players a new factor to consider when leveling up their Pokemon
lol what if they do it like a Mega Evolution. Once you reach a certain level. There is a slot on the moveset where you can evolve and then it goes through the evolution screen, and like how learning moves in the middle of a double battle, if you deleted a move before it attacked, it uses that attack instead
I think pokémon would do well with at least having "grunts" as the "voice acting", like they do in Zelda. Cuz, since they're making more active and "cinematic" cutscenes it just feels very awkward to not hear a peep coming from the characters. Especially when it's in scenes like the opening of Sw&Sh, or when Piers is "singing" (which is odd considering that in B2W2 they DO have someone as the voice of Roxie in her gym battle)
They kinda did that in Legends Arceus. Your character grunts when attacked by a Pokémon or taking fall damage. But it's still kinda limited.
A lot of RPG series are incorporating voice acting now so not sure why Pokémon hasn't. Especially since they had an announcer in the Stadium games and Battle Revolution during battles. Even if they only had it in cutscenes and had the rest of the dialogue just be text (which they do in some games), that would be fine.
@@mizusenshi8172 part of it is cheapness, wanting to rush games out on a schedule, and the fact that they want every copy to be globally the same. So you would need like 12 VAs for every character, one in each language setting. And with how different countries have different laws, and just how much storage space that is, that'd be a pain. There's a reason not a ton of games have even dual audio. Though they could do like Overwatch, you download the voice language you want as free DLC, that'd fix the storage concern
Heck, even do it like Pokemon Snap, where they say a short word or phrase that is related to the actual text in the text box.

New Pokémon Snap did the voice acting well. When there's cutscenes there's full voice acting but when it's just normal gameplay, they make some grunts and noises. They should do the exact same thing in the main series games
Concerning character costumisation I've always hated scrolling through 15 of the same item in different colours. I'd love if there was a dye shop to change the colour between costom colours and suggested colours. Not too expensive though.
This is always why ive preferred customisation in gen 6, scrolling through the same outfits in swsh got old so quick
or have a tab for different colors
SM/USUM did dye shops and I barely used them, I don't want to have to go through the effort of dyeing each new article of clothing that I want to put on. It'd be better if clothing was just listed by style and then you either open up a mini menu with the different color/pattern options or just use the L and R buttons to change color or something.
Or just nesting the colors, like select turtle neck, then select color, done

I like the idea of a hard mode, but if they did it I would hope they don’t increase the levels because more grinding isn’t really harder it’s just more time consuming, I think if hard mode existed, it should be better move sets and ai but not higher levels

@@TheMuhahaa maybe a bit of EV training for the trainers. Not excessively hard like cythias team though. To start out maybe 1 or 2 Pokemon per trainer has some EVs buffed and it scales up from there.
Also more trainers should have items on their pokemon
I think a good Hard mode would be giving trainers O-powers so they start with buffs applied
And facing perfect IV and EV trained pokemon
More Pokémon in the plot. Like, using Driffbloom to steal kids to raise and become soldiers in black and white.
And then using Drifloon to replace "Driffbloom" when they realise their mistake.

My hope is that they add a battle simulator in Pokémon Home. Similar to Pokémon showdown, it’ll be a cool way to have a national dex battle like meta, where you could have Mega’s vs Dynamaxing, and other cool stuff like that.
Competetive is bad for pokemon. The sooner we can move it off the main series the better the games will be.
@@Markcrazeer No, i politely disagree. I think that you can avoid the competitive scene of pokémon and play the story, t's not like it's ruining the game.
I played through the entirety of SWSH and ORAS without knowing about competitive pokémon.
And it also creates a new target demographic for the game.
@@Markcrazeer not really, Though I do agree it has many flaws. The system definitely needs to be changed to where you can use your favorite Pokémon competitively. The grit system in Legends is a great system
If they made Pokemon Home = Pokemon Showdown I will never care once again about having all pokemon on the national dex
@@k1rd858 the problem is not neccecarily the pressence of competetive it is that competetive is a broken crutch making the games less … complete than they could be.
«Competetive is the post game shut up and enjoy it. Nothing Else matters.» this is the problem the crutch of pvp makes the single player Worse then it could be.
Especially since ivs were not designed to be competitive. IV manipulation/ perfecting is antithesis to its purpose. For competitive to work eugenics needs to be eliminated (and shinies banned). Currently the only sane way to do competetive is hacking.
Dhelmise with Steelworker sorta did the 3 typing thing with getting Steel STAB, but it'd be cool to see one that works both offensively and defensively.

I agree with most of these. But, I would also love to see a Pokémon rhythm game. They have 25 years worth of songs to pull from. Easily several hundred songs including spinoff games. Pokémon and trainers could dance in the background kind of like the characters in the Persona dancing games

I want Pokémon to start finding it’s genuinely unsettling roots like in the older games. Hypno stealing children & the ghosts in that funeral home gave Pokémon a creepy vibe that challenges the super happy fun time the series has kinda created it’s own stigma for. I don’t know why they stopped but they should start it up again.
They stopped because they thought it wouldn’t be family friendly. Which is such a bs claim when we’re already nuking our rabid pets into orbit and summoning black holes at them.

There actually is a ROM hack where you play as a team rocket grunt that does what you want in point 50. It's called Fire Red: Rocket. Very fun, definitely targeted towards a more mature audience as well

Klara/Avery/Bede/Marnie are already established gym leaders. Its easier to include Galar as it is already sort of open world. Would need much more work to include Kalos.

Having a actual Sandstorm form for castform why don't we have one pokemon make it happen.
Maybe even some more weather types like instead of just rain ther could be a thunderstorm where there is a chance your pokemon could get struck by lightning without using thunder obviously a very small chance but would make it a bit more challenging.

A long time ago I've played hacked Pokemon Red and Blue on an emulator where you play as either Jessie or James, depending on the version, and the other member is your rival. Professor Oak is replaced with Giovanni, and instead of collecting badges you collect medals from Gym Leaders. And that guy at the end of Nugget Bridge who tries to convince you to join Team Rocket is like "What? You're already a member? Great! Let's battle!"

Things I want that I think would be cool, but I won't hold my breath.
0. Restructured gym system - Instead of beat 8 gyms in order, then Elite 4, then Champion, have the open world idea be explored. Have like 100 different challenges, ranging from beat the gym leader to compete in a catching competition. Winning that challenge earns you a star, and after beating 10-15 in a sub-region, you enter a tournament for that sub-region. Win the tournament to earn an Elite Star and a chance to face an Elite 4 member as an optional boss fight. Earn 4 Elite Stars to participate in the Elite tournament, where at the end you face off against the Champion.
1.Redo all shinies- Yep, you heard me. Go through all shiny pokemon, and make the shiny colorations by hand like in Gen 6+. Get rid of the shinies that are just a shade darker or lighter, get rid of the ones that just get uglier or turn into the dreaded Light Green/Pink colors.
2. Pokemon variations - Have it so if you had your pokemon in with a dozen other of the same pokemon, you could tell which is yours merely by sight and sound. Size differences like how Arceus did it is a good first step, but go beyond that. Swablu that has even poofier wings, Right-hand face Barbaracle, Sandygast that come with like 8 different colored shovels. Add more gender differences, that can range from "Oh, males have much larger horns" to "That little white patch right here, it tends to be smaller on females than males". Rework shiny colors for some mons into variations, like Smeargles with like 10 different tail colors. Add unique variations that are very rare like Spiky Ear Pichu, Rainbow Paint Smeargle, or Heart Chest Wooper.
3. Pokemon Personality- In the games, pokemon come in hundreds of different kinds, but they all act like the same thing. Add personalities into them, similar to Miitopia, so that they become more like characters within the game. A stubborn pokemon might refuse to return to you if you call it back, but it might also endure a hit that would've KO'd it. A pokemon with a chill personality might use a move you don't tell them to use, but this might also cause the opponent to relax, lowering their stats. Their animations could be affected as well, with an energetic pokemon moving around more than a chill personality.
4. More Double Type attacks - They introduced Flying Press, a Fighting/Flying type move that acts as both types as once, and as such can cause more or less damage accordingly. Why stop there, have Muddy Water be a Ground/Water type, Blaze Kick be Fire/Fighting, or Fusion Bolt being Dragon/Electric. Signature moves would probably be more likely to have the double type damage, but you could have moves in double battles fuse together to cause more damage or create unique moves with special effects.
5. Defensive options - Right now, the main pokemon battle system lacks basically any defensive options. Sure, there's Protect like moves, but it could be expanded much more. Have 3 different defensive options, Dodge, Counter, or Block, with each having their own advantages or disadvantages. Dodging is more chance based, where if successful, you dodge all damage from a move, but failure will result in full or maybe more damage from the move. Counter aims to minimize damage while also damaging the opponent, by clashing your move against theirs. Blocking focuses on minimizing or nullifying damage, while giving you priority for the next attack. Using these options would consume PP from moves.
6. Version Exclusive changes - There are ways they could change it, one is have no version exclusives and just release one game. A better option I feel is have 1 game have a pokemon be common in one, like Route 8 has Goomy spawn 30% of the time, but in the other Goomy can also spawn, but only at like 3% spawnrate. The final option is go the exact other way, by having one game have all the new mons and then like 300 other gen mons, but the other game has all the new mons and then like 300 different other gen mons. Add different gym leaders like Sword/Shield had or kinda different plotlines, like in Game 1 the 2nd Villain attack is in the jungle area but for Game 2 the 2nd Villain attack occurs at the Oil Refinery.
7. Social Network - Add a social network thing so you can see how different characters in the world connect to each other. Find out that the Electric Gym Leader has a connection to the Elite 4's son. This idea could connect to...
8. More Friends/Rivals - Have many more friends and rivals, each with their own goals and personalities. A pokemon breeder that hatched a shiny pokemon, and now in their off time are shiny hunting, with their grand collection of like only 2 shinies. A talented and lucky trainer who is bored of battles due to their skills, whose love for battles is reignited by a battle against you. They've got rare and strong pokemon, and even have a shiny pokemon they started their journey with. Generic friendly rival who, after losing so much to you, goes down a bad path. Let me have like 9-10 friends/rivals, that each fall into a different subgroup of pokemon player.
9. Cooler Pokedex - Arceus improved the pokedex by giving us different tasks to actually fill out, but there is more you could do. Make us have to find out what pokemon like which berries through trial and error, special tasks like have a Zangoose and a Serviper meet to see the relation, and let us take the pictures of the mons ala Pokemon Snap. If possible, let us actually fill out the information of the mons, like have the generic outline of the mon, and we fill out the information for the pokemon. The professor would ask us, "Did you see any wild Vanillite being created out of something", and we have to choose between a snowman, an ice-cream machine, or an icicle. They would then ask, "What caused the ****** to create the Vanillite" We then use the fact that we saw it coming out in the morning light to answer "Morning Light".
The thing I’ve wanted for the longest time Are unique ways to catch/use Pokémon. I’m a big fan of the Pokémon adventures manga and many of the main characters have interesting tools they use In battle, e.g. Gold’s Pool stick, Yellow’s fishing rod, Bruno’s nunchucks. And my favourite example is actually from the Lucario movie. The staff that Aaron traps Lucario in. We sorta saw this with ancient poke balls in PLA but I would LOVE to see many different ways of catching Pokémon in the wild. Maybe the pool stick helps with catching far away pokemon, the nunchucks make your switching out faster, the fishing rod is good for trick shot catches etc. I think it would add so much to the game.
2:05 Colosseum/XD sequel would be more enjoyed than Battle Revolution imo. That would just be Pokemon Showdown with better graphics, which wouldn't sell well tbh
Actually, imagine a Pokemon game with no story or overworld. It's just all the resources are put into an avatar customizer and the best looking HD models of every Pokemon in existence, using all the Switch's capabilities to make the most detailed battles it could render without needing to worry loading a new map every 7 seconds.
People would definitely buy this, or at least subscribe to Expansion Pass to get it for free if they want to just battle people online and have a super pretty experience. Plus with Home you can just use your own team instead of entering stats into a calculator for Showdown

The Tower Defense idea reminded me of me favorite TD back in the Warcraft III days, pretty sure it was just called Pokémon Tower Defense. Different Pokémon types had different towers, and I remember thinking one of them was clearly the best (maybe it was Psychic?). I used to love playing that custom game with my friends
Pokemon Tower Defense was my go-to back in the day when I had no consoles or anything like that. My favorite part of PTD 1 and 2 were the shinies you could get 🤭

I really want multiple save files. Maybe 3, so you get a chance to use all three starters from start to finish, and you get to experiment with multiple teams and all the new Pokémon they introduce. I grow attachments to my team lol, so I can’t delete my game, but I want to play through it multiple times. You can do this on switch since you can have multiple profiles, but I think it should just be in the game. Having multiple saves would be awesome especially in more story based Pokémon games like mystery dungeon, where you might want to re-experience the story and characters. I don’t know why they haven’t done this yet lol
Very few RPGs do this (since it would be a feature almost no one would use), with New Game+ being the standard instead.
I hated that Xenoblade X and 2 did this when the first game gave you several files.
Though what's worse is BotW too, not even multiple saves or NG+ at all.
For Pokemon I wouldn't make it multiple saves. Rather you can choose to reimagine your journey, you do the plot again, from the opening to the final boss, you can pick new Pokemon, basically do whatever. But, when you beat the final trainer you can find all your old pokemon safe and sound in a ranch or something, which is why you can't use them during the replay.
Though maybe some like the Box legendary you can optionally rewrite it, or like if you catch it you get a little "but this is just a memory so you didn't catch two" message

Personally, I never want to see 2 regions in 1 game because the one time they did do it, we got a bland version of the orginal region that destroyed the level scaling. This was with the game that has the worst level scaling in the franchise, but even if the next try doesn't have that issue, I don't think they'll be able to balance it well.
It was only that way because of technical limitations that don't apply anymore. Frankly pokemon games have been staying stuck on mechanics that were work arounds invented to make gameplay possible on the gameboy. It's ridiculous that graphics is almost the only thing that moved forward.
They're so terrified to experiment that every single "new" mainline feature was actually tested in a side game first.
I'm not talking about the combat gimmicks each game gets for 1 gen only. I mean actual gameplay changes, like how they're only axing tall grass blind encounters after testing it in let's go AND arceus... They're never trying to push the envelope.
@@SquintyGears I get that, but how would 2 regions change anything? If you have a bunch of dated mechanics and throw another region in there, the mechanics don't disapear. And knowing Gamefreak, the game design will definitely get worse. So it's not even a tradeoff, it's sacrificing something crucial for something overrated.
@@kiwikarp9509 well idk, a previous region has been the best "post game" we've ever seen. I think it hits a strong nostalgia chord too. It's not going to be the single killer feature that will make everyone buy that one game, but it's definitely a strong argument. You would be getting almost the value of 2 games in one. Since the alternative is buying shining diamond standalone...
I do think some of the other suggestions in the video would be more interesting.
@@SquintyGears No offense, but did you not read my comments at all? I went into detail on why it didn't work the 1st time(aka bad post game) and why Gamefreak would likely make the same mistakes that made gold and silver(+the remakes) such a slog to get through. So I'll put things in a different perspective. The Galar region is pretty lacking in route design and content as is. Would adding the Kalos region as postgame fix this? No. If anything, it would make it worse because the devs are allocating time that would've gone towards region 1 into region 2. But that's still 2 regions, wouldn't it still be like 2 games in one? No. With the ridiculously short dev times pokemon gets, they'd never be able to fit everything from both regions. We'd probably get a quarter-baked Galar with even less content and a half-baked Kalos with some noticable cut content. I don't know about you, but if I had to choose between 1 mediocre region and 2 bad ones, I'd pick the first one everytime. Ok, but even in the worst case scenario, we'd be getting new content, right? Man I wish that was true, but how much of a nostalgia high Pokemon's had for gen 1 and nothing else, we all know they'd make the 2nd region Kanto no matter what. So every problem I mentioned earlier wouldn't even be for the sake of a new region. If you like gen 2 more than gen 8 in this scenario, you wouldn't have a reason to play Sword and Shield over Gold and Silver. Also, this "new" region would definitely replace the dlc islands, and I personally think that would result in worse content because none of the other regions except maybe Alola were designed for an open world format.

Allot of people think they're getting worse. I actually think gamefreak reached all the wrong conclusions from the black and white backlash and we're still seeing the effects of that. And i don't think that's a quality thing because they achieved 100% of what they set out to do, they just had the wrong idea to start from.
But it's just semantics because in the end the experience for us players is poor.
To clarify the gen 5 thing.
-A massive part of complaints were about the new roster. It's objectively terrible because half of it is gen 1 copy pasta. But the way gamefreak understood that was "they only want to see gen 1", instead of these designs are ass and don't remove everything we previously knew. That's how we got kalos.......
They did eventually reach a cool compromise with regional variants (garbodor is essentially unovan muk, along with all the other examples) and these regionals are a much better version of that idea.
But gamefreak still thinks we only want to see gen 1, and only gives them a regional.....
-the praise of gen 5 revolves around the story... Guess what we got ever since? Except with the scope of the earth ending danger getting bigger our character has been less and less central to any of it. So it's bad writting... Sword and shield are the worst at this, sometimes massive blows up in the distance and the adults tell you "no don't worry your sports game tournament is more important, go play"....
Gen 2's pace isn't poor because of the extra content it's a separate problem. They didn't have much experience and a tiny team (again issues locked in the past, they can't come back)
Ultimately more map and trainers to encounter isn't extra work for everyone on the dev team equally. And since post game tends to be much lighter in story elements I think they have less probability of ruining it.
PS: i didn't buy any dlc because the game was bad so i guess i didn't experience the best part.
The thing I'd most like to see added, would be fixing the incomplete or incompatible genders. Giving male/female forms to male/female only pokemon and allowing Nidoking and Nidoqueen to be in the same egg group!

Long post sorry: I always thought it’d be cool to have an “adult Pokémon region”. Where you start the game as an adult (or you continue on from your championship run as a child) and you’re brought back to the lab and it’s explained to you that the whole gym challenge was watered down because you were a child now you can challenge the true test because you’re an adult now (I WANT A BEARD IN POKÉMON) in this challenge you choose a trainer class and you’re given a starter based off that class, i.e. you choose a black belt class and you’re given 3 fighting starters to choose from. The game would essentially force you into a monolocke of sorts and now you go against all gym leaders in any order you want, all the gym leaders now have their “real teams” full of fully EV and IV trained Pokémon and all Pokémon are set to a level cap like in online battles. Now instead of someone like Brock having Geodude and Onix he now has like TTar, Rhyperior, Aerodactyl, Rampardos, and Agron or to add an extra challenge theyd each have a pseudo or a full legend on their team. It only makes sense because they’re the strongest person with that type in the region so there should be no reason a random hiker later in the game has better rock Pokémon than Brock for example. All 8 gym leaders, all elite 4 members, and the champion have teams like this. After you beat the gym.
I would also like an option with online compatibility that links with this option where if either on your friends list or just through WiFi you can choose to take over a gym. If you beat Brock with a Rock team you’re given the option to have your team and character put in the game as a “gym leader” option. And when you’re currently playing and connected to WiFi a notification comes on your screen saying “a trainer has challenged your gym!” And you have the option of jumping into the WiFi battle with them using your gym leader team or if you choose to not participate they default to fighting Brock. If you win then the money that player drops is added to your account and vise versa. It would be randomly selected with everyone who has agreed to take over that gym and you’d have a 1 in like 500,000 chance of getting selected so one person isn’t bombarded with notifications. There could even be a “Gym Roster” section where the challenger can see a list of potential opponents with a record next to their name that updates and they can choose who they’d like to battle for their badge.

That’s actually a good thing because it shows we still care about the game. People say “There’s still room for improvements”. The producer will then never run out of ideas to update the game and get more money from customers as a result. And we will always have better versions to enjoy.

EV's are important for competative pokemon, but you should be able to move them around freely like in showdown. IV's on the other hand, can be removed and forgotten like the GS-ball.

Mega Yanmega would’ve been a great opportunity to make the first Dragon/Bug. It being a Dragonfly with “Mega” in the name just writes itself.

Also, I would love character customization, too, so the char would look more like me. Oh, and for the voice acting, they could just do voice cues, like in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask. And with a Pokemon outfit, I'd love that, I'd give a cool jacket for my Gengar with a fluffy collar.
