Betaflight setup guide from Joshua Bardwell: • Betaflight 3.3 Ultimat...
Say hello to the RCExplorer Bicopter. Yes, Bi as in 2! This copter only uses 2 motors and 2 propellers to generate lift.
Pretty cool eh? But you don’t get much control with just 2 motors, you need something more; Servos! Pitch and yaw are controlled by tilting the motors in either the same or opposite direction
This makes the RCExplorer Bicopter look freaking fantastic flying around. In full forward flight with the motors at full tilt, it’s reminiscent of the V22 Osprey.
The RCExplorer Bicopter is designed to look as badass as possible, and I think we succeeded. The frame is entirely made from high-quality 3k twill weave matte finish carbon fiber. This makes the RCExplorer Bicopter frame lightweight, durable and worth drooling over.
Just picture yourself rolling up your flying buddies and pulling this thing out. Guaranteed instant +10 to street cred and coolness (guarantee not guaranteed).
The sharp-looking backend not only looks like a formidable stabbing weapon, it also makes the copter fly better. The weight is distributed more evenly and the leverage arm is longer, which should make the pitch axis more stable.
This thing is not like a crazy locked in quadcopter that obeys your every command. No, you have to fly this the way it wants to be flown. It is not easy and it will take some getting used to. Tuning is tricky, fiddly and might vary greatly depending on the electronics used (Pre-tuned starting PID’s available for the recommended electronics kit.). You can get yourself into weird situations very quickly and it currently doesn’t like flying backwards.
What it does like is forward flight (both slow and flat out), lazy turns and hovering (as long as it’s not drifting backwards). You can do tricks as well, but be ready for some fun recovery manoeuvres. It is a very different flying experience compared to most other crafts.
Building the RCExplorer Bicopter is also a bit of a challenge. Designed to be as cool looking as possible lead to some awkward spaces. Cable management skills will for sure make things easier, but you will probably still want to curse us a couple of times during the build.

The mad sweed just doesnt stop making awesome grown up toys! Love this guy!
Smash
I want to build this frame up just to look at it. Forget how it flies, it’s a work of art! 👊🏻
Another great product Dave came up with. Dude is smart. Thanks for the video!
The thing with tilting a rotor as a control input is that gyroscopic precession will also cause a roll force 90 degrees ahead in the blade rotation. The anticlockwise rotor will impart left roll when pitched forward, the clockwise rotor will impart right roll.
In your current configuration, yaw left is accomplished by sending the right rotor forward and left rotor backward. The right rotor is the anticlockwise rotor, and the left the clockwise, so the craft will roll to the left while the rotors are being moved. This is cancelled by commanding a little roll right, but by slowing the right and speeding up the left, the dissymmetry of torque will yaw left - and this is continuous while the input is being held.
In the video, you did say you were thinking about reversing rotor directions. I think that's worth playing around with. After all, with ACW on the left, commanding left roll will also yaw left with the dissymmetry of torque, and that's already the direction you're yawing to coordinate the turn.
That frame is a work of art david! Like carbon fiber origami!
David... as I went out to do a little flying today with my 5” quad, I was reminiscing on all your old videos, which are the ones that specifically sparked my dream of flying fpv. That Domain du Planet ( or whatever ), the funjet fpv flights out over the water looking sideways.
Good times...
Thank you David... and all the best to you. 🤓🤘🏼
A pioneer of rc models. Well done david! Keep up the awesome work!
Great build David, I enjoy your video style and your projects even though I have never progressed beyond toy quads.
I love your mini hand 😂😂😂
I know right!
way better n a chopstick
Finally I've been waiting for a video for at least 3 years. 😂😂😂
He disappeared from the world grow a beard and back with a new drone.
This looks absolutely beautiful lad! Great job!
Mate thats an amazing work, I hope this subject will evolve even deeper because thats new and fresh. You're a pioneer so keep it going :D GJ!
One of the most entertaining voice overs for a building have ever listened to 👉🏽🤟🏼 and I freakin love the little pointer dudes. 🤪
That's a wild looking two prop craft I look forward to seeing what that mind will do next!
oh this is a must. just gotta wait for payday. Thanks david. i always love the odd ball multirotors
One of the Best drone building video I ever seen.
Thank you Brother.
Absolutely Insane build!! Love this so much.
Very, very cool. Well done on the design. I'd love to see another video about flying technique with this thing.
Great tutorial....good to see this out there so kids canplay with something other than video games, this teaches them. Excellent!
Best build videos ever. Even the voice of reason sitting next to me doesn't complain.
Simply superb. Looking forward to your mono copter build someday mate. Cheers

I probably will never build that, but I really enjoyed watching this video !
Over all the little hands, really cool
Same
Glad to see your time with Flite Test has not been wasted!
LOVE the little rubber hands,... helps make the point, and are quite amusing. : -)
This is big. Mark my words, David, you are going to changes things in a big way.
Love those little helping hands...
That looks so cool and it seems to fly not to bad. I remember seeing bicopter videos a few years ago and they flew terrible.
Awesome David you did it again
tis is a working crazy art.. bro.. u kill it.. cool !! keep it up..
That is the frakkin' coolest drone ever 😍
Most detailed vids. Thank you for that bro...
I remember my 1st tricopter I saw your 1st tri copter build and later updated mine. Sucks no one really talks about them anymore. planning on making my own v3 here in a bit .. 9 years later
Quick tip for everyone not knowing this: use nailclippers to trim zip-ties. They cut flush so you don't have that nasty piece of plastic with the razor sharp corners sticking out. Especially with the slightly bigger zip-ties. Keeps you from wondering where the bloody smudge on your model/workbench/tools comes from. Oh, and BTW: this is how ALL instruction videos should be! Nice!
Well you did a goo job making it look as cool as possible!
Been waiting for this one
Awesomeness mate great build!!!!
Great tutorial, David!
I love your channel and crafts.
yay a video, I missed ya! More rocket videos are needed :D
i love this so much. i want to take this and make a tinywhoop sized version!
I love this idea. Wish I had one to test out. Lol thanks buddy for the vids
the little hands tho!!!!! love it!!!
absolutely amazing!!! great job 👍
the mini hand is literally amazing, so is your advertisement style. "buy this thing"
Great looking Qua... Tr... Bicopter!
Hey Genius! Maybe you could invent some props that will quiet this beast down? Love your stuff Dave!
Thanks for sharing David!
This video is pretty damn well done. 👍
Great stuff Dave!!
I am still waiting for the DW no prop levicopter, using 'clean outa this world flight' zeroth motor theory.
this little copter is RAD!
I seen you on RotoRiot ×with la drib and this is Great bicopter, Thanks for being nutty-enough to come up with this. JohnnyDRC
Love those little hands!!!
Looks awesome!
I've been telling myself and the wife I wont buy anymore quads and helis ... but no one said anything about a bi copter... man that thing is awesome ! I gotta have one
I love it. Great job.
Yes. Bicopters are the future,as it becomes easier to make tilting parts.
Osprey is unstable, because a lot of weight is outside the center of gravity. But something like a Chinook with wings and tilting propellers will be very stable
that mini hand is awesome :)
I like the "hands". Nice idea.
Wow great video! And I learned something new today, carbon fiber is conductive? Holy crap!
Awesome biycopter 👌👍
You deserve a biggg like dude
Dude it looks sooooooo cool! Do you plan to make it fpv?
A Terminator Hunter-Killer !!!!
Love it.
Wow, that was the fastest small rc copter flight I've seen
Awesome work
Did a shaven you work at flight test at one point? If so your presentation skills have gotten so much better. Your channel rocks subscribed.
It's a baby Hunter-Killer drone...
it is about a HK, but he needs to mount some guns (or something) under the nose www.bing.com/images/search?q=T2+HK&FORM=HDRSC2
That won't make the government(s) want to ban drones even more than they already do, for sure. Lol. If he builds a larger version then mounting an airsoft gun or nerf blaster would be fun though...
Dude, sick video ! Those little hands just kill me. lmao !!
Very cool bi-copter. I just subbed. ❤😊
Wow! That's awesome! Gimme this!😊
This is a fun build...cheers
Wow thats cool man 😍👍🏻✌
Your a Legend Mate
wow that's so cool :O
i was never interested in a Bi-copter
but now i am ! :D
i need a micro though
This is amazing!
I've finally decided to *GO CRAZY* after being told so many times not to by David.
Bla waka waka bingo do finkle zedro beda day!
BEAUTIFUL!
Yep this is my next project!,!☝️👉🤙
You are awesome.
I wish I was half as smart as you are. How the hell you figure all this stuff out is beyond me
HarlowsKorner 101 i figured out most of this stuff making my own fpv quad from scratch
you know what... you explaint it very clear.. thanks.. you good.. 👍👍👍
still the best outro animation on youtube
fantastic.... tip.. dont use the iron nuts include with this motors. use aluminum nuts.. they vibrate at certain speed.. i made a video about it.
Awesome job Sir soo cool love it 😘😁😍
Super cool!!!
thats really cool
you should think about doing something with the guys of flite test dude. you have some talent!
The frame design really is great. Not sure how the video has any dislikes.
Great video brother, good tips , liked and subbed you my friend well done 😀😁😀
If cool is what you are looking for... perhaps you need to try and make a mock of the Terminator aircraft!! I mean in this moment you have the front head of it the rear end shouldn't be a challenge at all, and it will be something that most people recognize and remember about the movie!!
Very nice bro
Very good video
Wow this is soooo coolAwsome!!!!!
That looks awesome, need to get that in the future. Only needs FPV and gopro mount. And some LED lights :D
Have you tried the Oblique Active Tilting method, where the arms angle in ~30deg or so? If i understand correctly this will give you more torque / moment to correct the pitch, and not just move the center of thrust
Reminds me of the Ravager ships in guardians of the galaxy!
you build the best ships bro, love how you designed this thing. are you on Instagram too?
I did some research on the topic and I have agree there is so little data to find out there regarding bi-copters. I guess the majority would be coaxial heli's and tilting prop convertibles but not so much real multirotor like this one.
The closest thing to true functional bi-rotor flight would be the hover board style type of platform, which has a ducted front and rear prop. from what i seen it seems very promising as it can balance a man standing on it in mid air without losing it's leveling threshold.
+ side protection = 2 × efficiency
I wish you success!
Amazing bro
That's a very cool build!!! CUDO'S!
Very NICe DAVE !!!
