Thank you for the comment, I appreciate it! Making your own custom decals is not too difficult. I use the decal film from Testor. The kit comes with clear decal film and the spray fixative. All you need is an ink-jet printer. Load the decal film in your printer, print your design on the film, spray the printed design and let dry. Just excellent work. The engine looks like a real tractor diesel power plant. I'm going to try dry brushing on future projects where there are rivets or other re-occuring raised details. Great job!

I really wanted to detail out a semi tractor. I built a Peterbilt 359 that I detailed somewhat and I wanted to raise the bar on this build. I have a tandem trailer set to build to go with this KW. I plan on attempting to put as much detail in the trailers as I can to compliment the KW. I thank you so much for the comment and for watching the video. Thank you for your comment. Yeah, there is a lot of details that can be added at this scale. The problem is where to draw the line. I think I may have crossed it a time or two on this build. I have asked some of my model airplane builder friends why they put so much effort detailing the inside of the fuselage of an airplane when it will never be seen once the two halves are joined. Their reply... "because it is really there". Adding details is completely up to the builder and how much extra they want to add. Did I over do it? Great job! This is a museum quality presentation of a W-900. I learned a lot from this presentation and going to try to copy your process. I used to do military armor and found it easy to weatherize and make look battle affected but 1/25 scale trucks much more challenging to make appear real and not just a plastic model.
First, let me thank you for watching and for your comments, they are appreciated. I post these videos to show what I did on the build and to possibly give others ideas for their projects as well, so this video has accomplished that. I have built armor, ships, spaceships, trucks and all sorts of other kits. Each is different in the weathering effect application. I actually built a Freightliner Cab Over and purposefully weathered the heck out of it to "learn" how to do rust, dents and other effects on trucks. I'll post a video on this rig if you are interested to see it. You may wish to do the same to learn your technique on weathering cars and trucks. Get a cheap kit and go for it! But most of all enjoy the process and don't get discouraged if you have to go through a learning process. It takes practice to get things looking right. Thanks again!
Thank you so much! To be honest, this model has gotten more comments than I ever expected. I set out to try and make it as realistic as I could. I wanted a model that looked like it was functional when the hood was opened. A little grease and grime here and there but not over done. My only regret is the darn stripes I put on the fenders. Your model building skills are an inspiration my friend, beyond what most are willing or capable to do! Thanks for sharing, I was beginning to think I was the only one out there who couldn't be satisfied unless I wired and plumbed the engine, air tanks and brakes ect... You have given me countless ideas for my future builds, though I need to learn you "dry brush technique" as I am lacking in that department. Here are a few tips you might try, instead of running 4 or 5 lines from front to back, I make a wiring harness by using a single larger wire then attach the smaller wires at each end with a small piece of shrink tubing, the result is very realistic looking. The problem you had with the chrome rubbing off and or scratching, (front grille), up can be fixed by painting them in Future floor polish before you begin working on it. There is a whole segment on FFP in the model world somewhere that is worth reading if you can find it. Keep building, and keep them videos coming, I'll be watching every one for sure!

Real quickly, dry brushing is simply dipping your brush in paint and wiping off almost all the paint until the brush is "dry" in appearance. Run the brush over the raised details on a part and the paint left on the brush will only adhere to the raised areas. This bring out the details. It will take practice to perfect. Awesome build, awesome details, awesome video. I have to agree with ya about the decals on the front hood fenders. Leave em off! Kenworth NEVER put factory paint stripe designs on their trucks. That was a Freightliner & Marmon 💡 idea. Excellent job. . . .well done. . . .10-4!!!😃🥰👍👍👍👍👍
If I had a chance to do it over I would not put the decals on the fenders. They are there to stay as there are two coats of clear on top of them. No decal remover in the world would soften these! Maybe some day I will replace / repaint the hood. Honestly, it does not bug me that much to rip the hood apart. Live and learn and go on to the next project, which will be doubles for the trailer. Don't care for the graphics on the fenders but I love the design on the rest of it, other than that I think it's beautiful, awesome details with the wiring and hoses and I love the rear fenders although I would have made rectangle tubes for the taillights as the support for the rear and hung the mud flaps under it, beautiful work and it still gets a 10 out of 10 ❤❤

That is absolutely amazing! I have the first edition of this kit, circa 1992, that I acquired in 1995. I have been looking for a more modern W900, because I owned and drove a 1:1 scale for 10 years. Hopefully my kit can look half this good, starting my build now. 👍

Absolutely! give the weathering a try. It is not hard to do and you really can't mess things up. After all, you're "weathering"! I suggest researching what is available for adding oil stains, rust etc. and give it a go! Thank you for watching the video and for your comments.
Thanks for the comment! I also build aircraft models and I tend to bring elements from one build to the next. Seatbelts and hydraulic lines are almost always added to aircraft kits. So when I build something like a car or truck, I incorporate those same detail additions. Basically, just look at your subject and decide what is missing that can be reasonably added. The ones on the fenders look good also, but next time maybe don't wrap them down to the headlights. Stop at the turn signals. Other than that minor thing, it's A-1!
You know, every time I walk by that model I tell myself I'm going to remove the hood and sand off those dang decals I put on the fenders. The decision to put the decals on the fenders haunts me to this day. One of these days I'll get the inspiration to remove them! The wiring, especially like the injector lines, is tedious. It takes time and a bunch of patience. I must admit I get frustrated with it too from time to time. It sometimes takes me months to complete a build like this. I get frustrated with a section and put it down and walk away. I'll come back later and things seem to go a little more smoothly after a break. My catch phrase is "kicking the ball is half the fun!" Meaning the building of the kit is half, if not more, of the enjoyment. I take as much time as I need to complete a kit. Once it is finished, I have to find something else to occupy my time. Thank you for the comments. The injector lines, air hoses and other lines are made several ways. The first is to get these wires in small sizes from the hobby store. I look in the jewelry section of Hobby Lobby but any craft store should carry these wires. You can also take some stranded small gauge electrical wire and separate out a single strand to utilize. Wire of almost any size can be ordered on the web too. I have also heated up a length of plastic sprue from a model kit. Hold the plastic over a candle flame until it softens, then stretch it out. You can get any size of line you need doing this. It also makes great antennas too! Thank you for watching and best wishes on your builds.
Dam excellent job sir my specs would be different : wheel base to short for a sleeper oh like it's a extended hood but anyway day cab fuel up front cab and hood raised another 5in higher for above frame exhaust routing battery mounted top of frame behind cab no quarter fenders or any other just spring loaded mud flap holders and 1in thick rubber mud flaps oh and 13.25 duplex wheels and tires for front steering
Sounds to me like you enjoy modified trucks. What you describe would be an interesting build, I would like to see it. I am considering lengthening the frame on my next big rig build. Well, it's kinda like a roller coaster. You start detailing one part and that leads to the next and that leads to the next. Before you know it your getting carried away on the details! I thought your custom decals look great. The ones on the fenders look good also, but next time maybe don't wrap them down to the headlights. Stop at the turn signals. Other than that minor thing, it's A-1!
You know, every time I walk by that model I tell myself I'm going to remove the hood and sand off those dang decals I put on the fenders. The decision to put the decals on the fenders haunts me to this day. One of these days I'll get the inspiration to remove them! Quite nice! I envy your wiring skills- my fingers don't work that well anymore.
The wiring, especially like the injector lines, is tedious. It takes time and a bunch of patience. I must admit I get frustrated with it too from time to time. It sometimes takes me months to complete a build like this. I get frustrated with a section and put it down and walk away. I'll come back later and things seem to go a little more smoothly after a break. My catch phrase is "kicking the ball is half the fun!" Meaning the building of the kit is half, if not more, of the enjoyment. I take as much time as I need to complete a kit. Once it is finished, I have to find something else to occupy my time. (Another model kit?) Thank you for your comments and for watching my video.

How do you do the sparks wires? And the air lines.?where I can find that size of wires?
Thank you for the comments. The injector lines, air hoses and other lines are made several ways. The first is to get these wires in small sizes from the hobby store. I look in the jewelry section of Hobby Lobby but any craft store should carry these wires. You can also take some stranded small gauge electrical wire and separate out a single strand to utilize. Wire of almost any size can be ordered on the web too. I have also heated up a length of plastic sprue from a model kit. Hold the plastic over a candle flame until it softens, then stretch it out. You can get any size of line you need doing this. It also makes great antennas too! Thank you for watching and best wishes on your builds.

Dam excellent job sir my specs would be different : wheel base to short for a sleeper oh like it's a extended hood but anyway day cab fuel up front cab and hood raised another 5in higher for above frame exhaust routing battery mounted top of frame behind cab no quarter fenders or any other just spring loaded mud flap holders and 1in thick rubber mud flaps oh and 13.25 duplex wheels and tires for front steering
Sounds to me like you enjoy modified trucks. What you describe would be an interesting build, I would like to see it. I am considering lengthening the frame on my next big rig build.
