Big caps fan here. When he got sent to Hershey I thought I don't even care if we see him rock the red again. As long as he's doing better and is enjoying the sport again. I'm gonna miss his slo mo shootout and his iconic bird celly but he really seems to be in a better place.

I am really glad you're mentioning the Canes. We do not get nearly enough respect around the league that we deserve, last year during the playoffs our own governor was chirping at ESPN for their biased coverage. Hockey media really hates sun belt teams, it's like they begrudgingly accept us out of necessity and then wonder why so many southern teams struggle to gain traction.
This team has a lot of heart and a lot of feelgood stories. Freddie with his clotting, PK the AHL turned NHL rookie, Kuzy fresh out of recovery. Our playoff run is going to be something really special.
Carolina has deserved love for YEARS....Sub par teams get way more hype than Carolina every year. Carolina has to work twice as hard as other teams in the league to get praise. Even the "praise" and compliments carolina gets from telecasters is very backhanded.

This thursday is going to be an Amazing game. I saw the game last week live and it was like watching a playoff game. The rivalry was real, The Panthers didnt want to leave the ice during the storm surge. It was crazy.
Both teams have the right culture in place and it makes for great playoff hockey.
Florida still takes it, but in 6 this time, IMO. These two are a cut above the others in the East.
I am a huge Carolina fan and it's shocking to hear you say that. Your team definitely lives in Canes' heads rent-free in a classic case of The Scares and most of us believe Good Ol' Bob Ross must have sold his soul for that Playoff performance in 2023. Unbelievable saves, for sure. As of this writing, one W and one to go this very week, I think we're all concerned but this is hockey at its best.

If Kuznetsov turns into even 3/4s of the player he was, idk how any other line up competes against them for 60 mins, let alone a 7 games series. They have a lot of "what ifs" but they've gotta be in anyone's top 4 rn
Thank you for the video about the Canes! PK has been so good since December for us, and he's so entertaining to watch. It's been so fun watching him develop, and this season has been such a fun story already with the rollercoaster of goaltending, with how good Spencer Martin has been playing, Freddy coming back from injury, Kuzy getting a second chance, and now Guentzel. This team has run an emotional gambit this year, and hopefully will get rewarded for hanging in and competing!
I can't agree more, I see so many videos from Hockey Psychology to Eck only glance or ignore altogether Carolina and what they are really trying to do there. Carolina is not a team of stars, that's not how RBA plays hockey, its a team with a method and it requires 110% 'buy-in' from the guys to work right, as Jarvis has said a few times. There were some teething pains with Lemieux and TDA specifically while they were learning it's Rod's way or the highway but in the 2nd half of this season trampling Boston, Vegas and most importantly the win against the Florida Puddy-Tats has been excellence on ice. With almost half the team up for Free Agency in the off season this run feels...final in some way. Cause Chaos! Let's Go Canes!!
Last year losing Svechnikov so close to the playoffs and then having Teravainen injured just as they started put too much of a strain on Aho and the team, Teuvo came back in just as he had barely recovered but then Slavin and Noesen got hurt late in the rounds which put the final nail on that "sorry guys it's not for this year"coffin.
Canes just need to pray that Andersen stays healthy, he's unfortunately so prone to injury.

@DR.DisInfect we were happy all through the playoffs until the Florida game. But we learned from that sweep. Also, the players we picked up last season for the trade deadline were trash. But that's in the past. Gotta keep looking ahead.
What will make them probably the toughest team, in order:
1. Depth (every line contributes)
2. Defense (it's actually outstanding night in and night out)
3. Scoring line (it's not as inconsistent game to game)
4. Goal scorer specialists and playmakers have come aboard. (This is probably the least expected thing for me, but I do believe Guentzel will help Aho finish plays better than anyone else on the roster)
As a caps fan it’s nice to see orlov and kuzy reunite. I definitely feel kuzy was overshadowed by ovi in DC, so I hope he can find his game again. Best of luck to the canes!
As a Canes fan, Orlov has really not done so well this year, except in the last couple weeks.
I think having Kuzy with the team has re-ignited Orlov. He's now showing why he was the big free agent pickup in the off-season.
Thanks for the Canes shoutout. The two points you brought up were spot on and something that was echoed here in Raleigh. With the moves by the trade deadline the feeling has gone from hopeful to electrically enthusiastic and a team that was already fun to root for before the new additions, has become even more so. @@scottydoesntknow24 Bad market. Media always wants to cover the big market teams. No stars either. Aho isn't quite there and Svechy hasn't mounted the comeback we all want since ACL surgery. The threat of Carolina is their depth, their consistency and their absolute denial of the blue line.

If it weren't for the Panthers getting even better, I'd say this is the best chance for my Canes to finally take the cup again - it'll probably come down to goaltending again, but I guess we'll see 🤷

Canes look like they're ready to pass the NYR. I'm an Isles fan and prefer them facing the Rangers in the first round. Carolina is a steamroller and the Isles are about to take over third in the Metro. So I would love to see the Canes take over at the top of the division.
I am ready to see how the Canes are gonna do in the playoffs this year. The Stars will be a challenge, but if it's not a challenge, it's no fun.

Plus every game was a 1 goal game. It was a much closer series than the 4-0 sweep would imply.
@@troybaxterwhere bobrovsky was having debatably the best post season oat up to that point. carolina dominated on the ice, basically outshooting them 2-1 every game. bobrovsky and clutch scoring, which the canes lacked last year missing their two main goal scoreres lacked.

The Canes are so entertaining recently & their offensive zone passing is crisp, quick & almost resembles mind reading between players, when the new signings settle in they are going to frighten opponents!! The craziest thing about the ECF last year is that our goalies were still posting something ridiculous like a .94 or .95 save percentage...But Bobrovsky was even higher than that. I wouldn't even say our goalies got outplayed, because those are amazing numbers and probably would have gotten us past any other team. Just further proof of how Bob had a once in a decade goalie performance.
The Canes passing this year has been top notch, they have the other team puck chasing to exhaustion

I kind of agree. It seems like when a team adds at the dead line there is so little time for the new guys to acclimate and find there Chemistry with the team, that it doesn't pan out. Just adding talented players doesn't guarantee wins

He's right though. It's deeper than that stat. Nobody knew if Anderson was actually coming back at full ability, but since he has, it makes a huge difference.

If the Rangers continue to play like they did for the past 15 games or so, i.e. playing strong defensively, we are in for a long run and hopefully the big prize at the end.
But, I won't get my hopes too high for the time being.

Canes are definitely heating up and getting better. Their record doesn't show it because of their struggles at the very beginning of the season, but they have played like an absolute unit since the turn of the New Year.

Hard to say about top3 but how I wanna see it, it will be Panthers vs. Canes in the east and Stars vs. Avs in the west. Although, eventually VGK might be the one come out in the west but that's definetely not how I wanna see it.

I feel like Anderson let in some very soft goals at some very key points in the playoffs for the leafs. I can still see the one burned in my mind forever (dammit). After being great all year, his edge seemed to leave him in the playoffs when other goalies would step up and find ways to get it done. He might be Carolina's achilles heel.
Carolina have been on another level since the trade deadline. Playing Rangers and Panthers this week, should be interesting.
WPG/DAL, VAN, FLA, CAR are gonna be in semi-finals in my opinion. Special mention to the capitals who traded almost everyone that wasnt injures and they still got a slim chance to make the playoffs. (Hendrix Lapierre is onto something tho)
Carolina one of the deepest teams in league this year. As always with them, goaltending will be the clutch, or crutch.
They should've traded somebody that was doing better than expected for a goalie that wouldn't have much value but would make the team better. Take a Jake Allen for example. Or even Flower. If Allen cost a 3rd then you could've got Fleury for maybe a th and Stefan Noesen

Panthers have the best record, best plus minus and I believe about the best in fewest goals allowed with Bob wreaking more havoc. Panthers for sure looking to come out of the East again but this year get the top seed and not barely get in like last year.
Kuzy doesn't impress me. He went through 3 coaches post Trotz. He's not a grinder and gives lackluster effort and makes mental mistakes at critical times. I don't think guys that just got out of player's assistance program are mentally there for playoff hockey. If he's not scoring highlight goals, he's the type to mentally checkout and not look to contribute in other ways.
He and his family are living with his best friend,Orlov, in Raleigh now. And he looks happy to be here. Rod is happy to have him. And so far in 2 games,he hasn't been rewarded yet,but has played very well,very hard,and smart. Hope to see the bird flying Tuesday vs NYR💪🏻

The one thing that’s not really mentioned is how the Canes offense dried up. If they can avoid that, I think they’ll have a good chance of being the ECF winner. Last year was tough with injuries, but hopefully that won’t be the case. A healthy Florida vs. Carolina in ECF would be awesome TV.
Kuzy has wanted out of Washington for like 2 years, you watch now that he’s finally out, he’s gonna be a great player again.

I have said it elsewhere on the internet that the Cup is the east's to lose this year. I say that because the Western conference playoffs are going to be an absolute bloodbath with at least six legitimate contenders having to battle one another to get to The Cup final. The Western finalist is going to be like Florida was last year, beat up and may not be able to perform well enough to actually win the Cup.
