As the Grand Inquisitor puts it "not a Sith, but close enough".
He was also a back up apprentice for Palpatine so if anything happens to Vader, Grand Inquisitor will be waiting in the corner
What if something happened to Vader and the Grand Inquisitor? Maul?
@@fdsajfldaskjf Nah Maul and Palpatine hated eachother. Probably just another Inquisitor temporarily and then Palpatine would focus on locating a force sensitive he can train as a proper apprentice
The Grand Inquisitor was pretty powerful, though. He had to be because of the nature of his job in the temple guard. Temple guardsmen were bred to quell any potential threat to the temple, whether it be external or internal.
@@fdsajfldaskjf I suspect that theres another dark side force using group serving the empire. Keep them separate so as to make it difficult to team up.
Probably someone from that group would be the next backup apprentice at some stage.
Or someone hidden away secretly in a cave somewhere.
Sith don't so backup apprentices. If the Grand Inquisitor thought he was strong/smart/cunning/ruthless enough to kill Vader Sidious would probably accept him. Sith only respect victory and power.
They were never meant to be an overwhelming force of nature on their own. Darth Sidious wanted force capable agents that he could count on to do the work none force sensitive could not, the last thing he needed where rivals. Lastly Inquisitors never needed to be overwhelmingly powerful to perform their function as often times they worked in teams of up to 3 Inquisitors or absent additional Inquisitors they had the might of the Imperial military behind. Another thing to note is that not all Jedi had access to space faring vessels which would enable them to escape constant encounters with inquisitors to enable them to refine their skills.
Real reason is they were depicted in a kids show, thats why they seem less brutal
@@lbrlrsfdj8895 That’s not the reason at all, the clone wars was interpreted as a kids show by many people but it never got any less violent. The reason is related to the plot. They never got any better in Obi-Wan Kenobi and that series wasn’t even slightly pointed towards the child audience.
@@lbrlrsfdj8895 Wdym they were less brutal because they were in a kid's show? Maul literally sliced one of the Inquisitors almost in half, then proceeded to slash through the abdomen of another... in that very same kid's show lol. Clearly it being targeted towards a younger audience didn't affect the brutality at the times when it did get brutal.
@@lbrlrsfdj8895 Oh please, whenever Vader deigned to walk the earth in Rebels, he was a god compared to the Inquisitors. It was to show the power of a Sith Lord, not the power of someone who had merely taken a dip in the abyss of Dark Side.
@Jack Napier Rebels is better than Ep 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, and 'Solo'. Jury is still out on 'The Mandalorian', though so far it's so boring I finished the 3rd episode and then found a few thousand other things to do rather than watch it.
Palpatine did manage to find a loophole around the Rule of Two while making sure the Inquisitors don't grow powerful enough to challenge him and Vader.
They are below his Pecking Order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms in the dirt, Emperor Palpatine's stool (his dung), Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine.
first rule of Palpatine's training, don't talk about Palpatine's training 😱
It's basically what happened to Ventress in TCW. Palpatine just out of the blue told Dooku to destroy her, as she was "becoming too powerful;" so clearly Palpatine wouldn't have such a scenario happen again, but now with multiple Dark Side users.
That was the same loophole that Dooku used to train Ventress and Savage; they were below the Sith Pecking Order.
@@jagnestormskull3178 It was also the loophole Palpatine used with Maul in Legends while Plagueis was still alive. Granted, he did give Maul a Darth title, but he told Plagueis it didn't really mean anything. And Plagueis didn't really care since Maul was nowhere near powerful enough to be a threat. He was trained to be an attack dog and that's about it
Cause that was the whole point. Vader and Palpatine didn't need more Sith, the Jedi were already all but extinct. At most they just needed enforcers who they'd teach a small amount of the Dark Side to, to make them just capable enough to hunt down the padawans and younglings who did manage to survive up to that point. Also since there were practically no masters left it was unlikely any of said Jedi could ever rise to a level high enough to challenge an Inquisitor.
And if a jedi did kill one or more inquisitors that meant they where worthy of Vader's time. Look at Cal Kessis for example, Vader did not do anything to him until he defeated two inquisitors.
I’ve read a theory on CZcams that a reason why the Inquisitors are pretty weak compared to the Sith Lords is because Darth Sidious intended for them to be as disposable as the TIE Fighters of the Imperial military. Darth Vader has better things to do than to hunt fugitive Jedi all over the dark corners of the galaxy, so he has the Inquisitors do it for him. Vader would only care about facing a Jedi himself if he/she was as powerful as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Tbh, comparing "average" force users such as the inquisitors to the main characters is like comparing League 2 to Premier League in football. There's levels to this.
Good point
facts!
i think one of the best lines in kenobi to explain this is when reva complains about only hunting scraps. and the grand inquisiter says scraps are all that is left. the inquisitors were trained to hunt padawans with an army of troopers at their back. not to solo obiwan.
I think the reason we think of the Inquisitors as weak is that we have a unfair coparsion. Papatine was The Sith, he was culmination of a 1000 years of planing, teaching, and learning. Vadar was just a extremely natural powerful force user that really none could stand against on basics alone. But against just about anything else save a force users the Inquisitors were effectively unmatched. Apart from Kal Kethis the inquisitors never really had trouble save for a full trained a capable force user, though we should probable chuck Kal Kethis up to game logic.
In terms of the galaxy as a whole the inquisitors were probably at the very top in terms of power, with only other force users and fringe case political or military power.
Cal Kestis is also extremly powerfull and skilled individual. He is not as powerfull as Anakin or Obi-Wan but still he is above average level of power of jedi knight.
Yeah i think they're forces to be reckoned with against almost every normal person and would also probably be comparable to an average Sith at an era of the Sith empire where the Sith were almost as many as the Jedi (not comparable to the top tiers but your average Sith Soldier or Sith Assasin).
But when compared to the Chosen one and the most powerful Sith of all time they're obviously ridiculously outmatched. Even someone like Maul is mentioned as one of the deadliest Sith ever
you clearly had not read the Legends material which is the original inquisitors.
I think they served multiple purposes, which fits with the sith and palps mentality totally.
First: force multiplier, Vader can't be everywhere, and deal with every little normal level threat. And we all know palps doesn't take out the trash.
Second: insurance. None of them could hold a candle to a real sith, but gang em up, and they could harass a unruly apprentice, making him easier to dispose of.
Third: usefulness. Got a meatgrinder that you don't want to throw a time/effort intensive apprentice at, especially with a low probability of survival?
Fourth: (probability the weakest point, but still) deniability. Utterly disposable, for when something goes south enough to require a bit of spin.
Fifth: sith gonna sith. Palpy just can't help playing games with people. It's sith catnip.
Palpatine also purposely kept the Inquisitors training on the down-low, so that they wouldn't become too powerful within the Dark Side of the Force. It's the same exact mistake he made in the Clone Wars, in that one episode where he had Dooku attempt to destroy Ventress, because she was "becoming too powerful." Ventress' growing power almost slipped right under his nose, (though that was what Dooku secretly wanted, so that way he could use Ventress' power to help in the destruction of his master.)
Palpatine didn't want that same mess on his hands again, but by this time allowing multiple Dark Side users to fully envelop themselves within it's power.
Kanan: "i'm not making deals with you."
Grand inquisitor: "then we'll let him make one shall we."
The Empire used plenty of cannon fodder (e.g. stormtroopers). The Inquisitors were merely the Force-using variety.
Darth Vader toying with Reva is one of the best scenes in Star Wars.
Absolutely ruthless.
congrats on 700k subs man. keep it up
Make more Star Wars what ifs like Anakin stayed on mortis did what the father told him to keep balance into the force
He straight-up pointing out how problematic and flawed the jedi teachings are. Sure Jedi aren't falling to the dark side in droves, but you'd be crazy to deny there isn't a problem at all
Generation Tech points out the flaws in the Jedi Code a lot. It helps that it is ridiculously flawed.
The problem is shown with Anakin, the Jedi don't try to teach people to have emotions rather than how to deal with them. The end result is a bunch of emotionally stunted force users so when they encounter situations when they can't force their emotions down they aren't equipped to handle it. Combined with the orders arrogance and isolation from normal people its a terrible combination.
@@101Mant they wanna strip you of your humanity
If Pong Krell survived, he would have made an awesome Inquisitor...
In my opinion it seems clear that they were simply not allowed to grow strong to a point that they might be a threat to there masters (Vader and Sidious).
Palpatine purposely kept the Inquisitors training on the down-low, so that they wouldn't become too powerful within the Dark Side of the Force. It's the same exact mistake he made in the Clone Wars, in that one episode where he had Dooku attempt to destroy Ventress, because she was "becoming too powerful." Dark Jedi just ignore their teachings and give in to the Dark side. Sith follow teachings that maximize control over the Dark side and it's capabilities.
I always thought Palpatine didn't want the Inquisitors to be as powerful as real Sith because then they would be a potential threat to him. Plus if the Inquisitors were as powerful as true Sith wouldn't that violate the Rule of Two?
Nobody expects the Imperial Inquisition1 You are hereby charged as a Force wielder against the Galactic Empire! My old man says...
The dark side isn’t just destructive, it can be just as effective in healing as the light. The dark side is often compared to venom but keep in mind venom has numerous healing and curing properties that people are just starting to uncover
I would like to see a video of how sith and Jedi from the Old Republic would stand up to the Jedi and Sith of the new Republic
It'd really depend on which Sith we're talking about here. The run of the mill everyday Sith Lord from Vitiate's Sith Empire was probably no stronger than the average run of the mill Jedi from the Clone Wars era, and many Sith Lords were just powerful politically but relatively weak in the Force. I don't see Darth Baras being a compelling threat to any main prequel-era Jedi, for example, even if he was a small bit power player to the Sith Empire for a time. Now, if we're talking Darths Nilhilus, Sion, and Treya, the Dread Masters, Darth Malgus, or Emperor Valkorian, we've got a totally different level of power that may be even challenge Vader or Palpatine. Likewise, Master Satele or Revan are probably a lot more powerful than most council members of the prequel era other than Yoda and maybe Mace Windu. Overall, I'd say the Old Republic Jedi Order would be as a whole stronger than the prequel Jedi if only because they were constantly fighting Sith of one form or another, so even the average member was more combat savvy than the average member of the prequel Jedi.
If they were as powerful as Darth Vader, there wouldn't be a need for Vader would there?
The Inquisitors are the junkyard dogs and Vader is holding the leash.
If they had the ability to fight back against their Master, they wouldn't be proper *slaves*.
They were chosen because they were weak. Killing Jedi was not the important part. They just had to find Jedis & use the EMPIRE to crush them.
Killing jedi was their job tf you mean it wasn’t the important part
@@fdsajfldaskjf He thinks in person - even best duelist can be shoot by enough troopers
@@fdsajfldaskjf Use slightly more brain processing and comprehend the sentence you ding-dong.
the Inquisitors were basically hunting dogs created to flush out prey but not ever meant to be anything more. They were disposable.
Congrats on reaching 700k subscribers! Really interesting video as usual
The Inquisitors are as weak as paper mache... Or Raditz.
Allen, your content is pretty awesome.
congrats on 700k al!
Congrats on 700k :)
The Emperor Darth Sidious would never allow Darth Vader /Anakin to take on an apprentice. Why? Because there can be only 2 - 1 master and 1 apprentice. The master would always seek out the strongest to be his apprentice. So Sidious was always testing Anakin's strength and loyalty. But the apprentice wants to be the Master.
tell that to Starkiller.
Darth Vader: You talk about being inquisitors.
I am Sith.
We are not the same.
Awesome Alan thank you buddy
They were never sith and were just used to hunt surviving Jedi like padwans or younglings with help from the imperial military, where the sith had over thousand years of teaching and planning. Great video
Can you do 2 videos for the inspirations for the prequel weapons
Good points.
The only inquisitor who measured up to the sith was definitely the grand inquisitor
Inquisitors are so weak they can't break the RULE OF 2.
They are also meant to be replaceable to Vader and Palpatine.
Sidious hates competition.
I like to think that the inquisitors were to the sith like how stormtroopers were to clones
Wasn’t the baldy pasty grand inquisitor a former Jedi temple guard?
PLZ do a video on Starkiller/Galen Marek
Hello there friends welcome back to another episode of Generation Tech my name is Allen
No wonder why Darth Vader consider favoring his secret apprentice (Starkiller) over the Inquisitors.
mate you can talk about grey jedi mentality but the thing is- the force is a metronome. Every being trying to balance the force distances themselves from current events, becomes a coward or a person in general not taking a single side and succumbs to apathy and similar things.
The most grey characters like Kreia, Revan and Exile were still more on one side than the other. Revan and Kreia's methods were VERY sith in nature. Exile was a jedi with a lot of Kreia's teachings in her heart but at the core she was a jedi.
This is why it doesn't make sense that Reva "used the dark side" to survive being stabbed with a lightsaber.... twice.
a great point about how a tru sith wouldnt need to have a spinny saber to block blasters or "fly." they needed the toys to make up for their inadequate powers
"You have the trappings of the Sith, you fight like the Sith. But this can be imitated however. You lack a vile quality found in all Sith. Sith have no fear, and I can sense MUCH FEAR in you..."
-Count Dooku (Clone Wars 2003)
We're the Jedi High Council really good moral people in reality though?! How do we know we just like them because we've spent so much time with them but in reality they were completely wrong.
Things like love, grief, and friendship don't actually count as being of the Dark Side. The Jedi claim these things LEAD to the Dark Side. Maybe the Jedi should have been allowed to love, get married, have families, and love their friends and children. That would have given them a MUCH BETTER perspective on the average person in the galaxy they claim to protect. They would have been much less blind and retained some of their greatest most talented Jedi because Jedi that break the rules, under the current Yoda based leadership) are basically shunned and need to either be imprisoned for life (yes. They imprison Jedi for life that they think MIGHT go to the dark side) and they create insentives for Jedi to escape and even run into the arms of those that actually accept them like the Sith.
Can you please continue the separatist alliance vs earth series please
God I wish they made a GOOD (important caveat) Darth Malgus movie. Such an awesome character.
If there can be Inquisitors, can there be Assassins and Warriors? Why Palpatine did not at least bring the Assassins in? If he can make the Inquisitors to remain as just Dark Side Force users, can he do the same for the Assassins and Warriors?
He did, in the EU atleast
In the EU he did, in Canon he probably had plans to do it but Vader and Cal destroyed any documents with force sensitive Children so there were simply no candidates for such a task
Just see them as the Sith warriors from the old republic. Low trained dark side users.
Probably a bit stronger them but similar.
1:46 Cal: "ZA WARUDO!"
The battle in Kenobi part 5 pretty much backs this up !!!
I want to know why they were all long forgotten by New Hope.
You know, my one worry about this video is that some one from Lucas film is going to see this video, take a deep breath, then say to themselves:
"We'll see who gets to say who's more powerful than who in starwars!"
Differeniating inquisitors from actual Sith, this should be fun
These letters look like the ones in GTA 5 lol
I think another reason for keeping them nerfed would be the example of Asaji Ventress, she was a very talented Sith assassin with great potential. So much so that Sidious ordered Typannus to kill her
The inquisitors are too powerful in Kenobi. They seem to be really capable.
Then how powerful were the ancient grey jedi who were balanced?
Please do a video on what if Ashoka joined maul
vaders eyes wasnt red when he killed them youngling
Rule of 2 maybe? Also that Palps was smart enough he did not want what he did to Plaegus to happen to him. Vader had a weak, antiquated suit for a reason, he was going to have strong enforcers around him? Lol na
I'm never this early 😂
Why didn't the Empire issues Stormtroopers lightsabers?
Turns out that I am just a dolphin.
Question what happened to star wars vs earth????
Can there be Dark side force ghosts? Because becoming a force ghost is becoming one with the force is it impossible for a dark side user to be one with the force? Because using the dark side is corrupting by nature and an unnatural usage of the force does the force reject them? What about the dark wraiths on Moraband in that one episode in clone wars?
No, Darksiders can't become force ghosts. But their essence can live on in objects, akin to genies. We see this with the GI and darth momin in the comics. They are basically just illusory phantoms with no real power at all.
Sidious and maybe Maul are the only real Sith have seen on screen. Dooku was basically a dark Jedi
Not sure about that. He was trained as Palpatine's Sith apprentice, he was given the title of Darth, and he had the ability to use force lightning. Remember that the first "Sith" were also former Jedi.
I'm sorry, did you call Darth Tyrannus a true evil psychopath when he didn't even have yellow Sith eyes and was once a light side user?
I love you
IIRC Tyranus/Dooku wasn't a complete psychopath like Plagueis or Sidious?
Did any inquisitors survive the empire or who lasted the longest
Its easy - Palpatine and Vader are sith, inquisitors are dark jedi
Sorry Alan, Through Power, I gain Victory.
Through Victory, my Chains are Broken.
The Force shall free me.
There is no room for Democracy in my galaxy. Only Power, preferably of the Unlimited kind.
Only a dolphin speaks in absolutes.
I will do what I must.
@@dukethighwalker6839 Only a Leafy American Hat dweller Canide speaks for Dolphins B-)
Anakin's weakness was his anger. Darth Sideous used that against him to turn him to the Dark Side.
Once again, the misunderstanding arrises regarding what a Gray Jedi actually is.
Gray Jedi were not a middle ground between the Light and the Dark. Balance in the Force cannot be achieved through finding the middle ground between Jedi and Sith. The Dark Side, by its very definition, is imbalance, and one cannot strike a balance with something that inherently causes imbalance. Balance in the Force, as the Jedi Order correctly predicted, albeit not as they expected, is the defeat of the Sith and the Dark Side itself. Gray Jedi are not balanced between good and evil, Gray Jedi are simply Jedi who don't act directly towards the Will of the Force like a true Jedi would. Ahsoka Tano was not a Gray Jedi, she was a Jedi Outcast. Her lightsabers were gray because that's the color of a kyber crystal that's been bled, then healed, by the Force. If anything, Ahsoka's lightsabers are a testament to how pure of a Jedi she really is.
I thought her Sabers were white
How did you know I was a dolphin?!
Which is why REEEva never should've survived being stabbed by Vader
Personally, I feel Vader left her alive on purpose. Being stabbed like she was, it'd take days to die.
Does maul deserve sith lord stats or is he just a sith apprentice?
Basically the more fancy the lightsaber, the more likely the person is compensating for his lack of talent.
Their is that one one in legends that has lightsaber suit. Although lightwhip users seems to be quite skilled.
What about grey jedis? The force in perfect balance?
Was Vader a real sith? Or just a dark Jedi.
Min 6:08....and so it is in this world.
I hope this video help s to clarify this topic I don’t see Reva as a bad character, I mean bad character Rey why all know the story
The Inquisitors are the JV team
While the Sith are the Varsity team
Inquisitors didn’t even make the JV team they just a bunch of outcast
They don’t train them like they use to
what if Anakin was born on a snow planet?
I don't like snow, it's cold, wet, irritating and it gets everywhere
👏👍
Darth Tyrannos never fully gave in, as he tried to recruit Obi-Wan to help take down the Sith in AotC and never got the Sith eyes or even the dark side lightning, it was his disillusionment with the dogmatic Jedi Order as to why he joined Sidious.
Tyrannos did have the lightning, actually, as was seen many times in the Clone Wars series.
@@tinothee8650 He uses force lightning in Attack of the Clones as well, most notably against Yoda
He does have lightning, but it isn't true sith lightning, there is a clear difference between his and Palpatine's. Remember that Jedi can use force lightning as well, it's just frowned upon by the Order.
But yet they can kill the Jedis
Survivor bias. It is generally assumed that the Jedi that survived Order 66 were all proper badasses. Not necessarily. Some sure, but primarily, they were the Jedi Masters, Knights, and Padawans that were too low combat skilled to be assigned clones, and therefore had no clones immediately around to hunt them down.
"capture Jedi" using the full might of the empire
To be fair they usually hunted in pairs or groups and often accompanied with troops from the empire as well or even Vader himself (who really was the one that took most of the Jedi down). Plus Rule of 2 era Sith>>>>>> your average Jedi
So wait, this is a thing people didn't know about?
All of this is true but let’s not forget… Vader and Sidious were likely the two most powerful practitioners of the dark side who ever lived- that has something to do with it too
They were former jedi slaves who were kept as pets.
TIL I'm a dolphin.
Yes yes yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesss
Stronger than what sith only sith they showed was vader and u didn’t really expect them to be on his level did u they’re meant to be as strong as paddawan maybe not an aniken or asoka but maybe a cal Kestess level type
Not just maul ashoka also
