Bro... I was going crazy for months trying to figure out what I was doing wrong... thank you, going to try this out soon. It seems so obvious yet I missed it and so did every single other video!
It works!!! Thank you, Peter!!!
I think it's very important what you suggest in a previous comment (down below):
in the case of heavy camera, lift the camera a bit before tightening the knob the roll axis!
I'm using RS2 RONIN with Canon EOS C70 and I had to lift the camera before tightening the knob in order to stop the swinging problem :)
thank you for this video - I was 90% there but this helped me get all 'excellent' when running the balance test. I'm new to gimbals and have been trying to practice before a client shoot where I will be doing long walking and tracking shots - this helps a bunch!
Very clear explanation, the roll axis is the most problematic on this gimble especially with a heavy rig that pushes toward the upper weight limit.
Man! That roll axis thing has been driving me mad since I got this. Thanx for the solution!! 🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌
Yes mate. But luckily there where a solution.
The tightening of the roll axis was SO helpful! Thank you man!
Sweet! Will be getting the DJI RS2 soon and I’m studying in advance.😅 Thank you for all the info!
This is so helpful!! The additional tightening of the lock did the trick! You rock!
Excellent tutorial mate, I really feel like I learnt something new, this will be getting saved to favourites!
Couple quick questions;
would you suggest I balance with my 24-70 at about 45mm (the middle) to compensate the weight of zooming in and out?
And should I balance with my LCD screen flipped out on my FX3? I usually do this but it never quite sits parallel to the ground 😑
DJIs balancing vídeo was great until the pan axis. This video was clear all the way through and helped me get the last part in seconds. Thank you so much brother 🙏🏼
Best tutorial I've seen on this so far thank you Peter. This solved my problem with the roll axis.
The most crucial issue with balancing is resolved now and thanks for sharing man! Sub’d and liked and keep them coming! 👌
Yesss finally a tutorial where I can actually understand very well. The visuals- spot on! Thanks man!
Thanks Peter, great DJI RS2 Tutorial!!!
Thank you kind sir for sharing this. Didn’t notice this issue on my end, I’ll check.
Thank you peter for your detailed explanation! 👍
Thank you. Don't know why I didn't think of that for the roll axis, but I think that solved my problem. Cheers.
So simple! Thanks for the help!
Had this issue for first time set up and this fixed it. Good catch. Thanks for the vid. subscribed!
Great! You address and solve the exact issue I have with the Rs2 and my S1H. I was afraid to tighten to strongly. Now, I get perfect balance.
Great to hear mate.
yep. that worked. Thanks a lot Peter, cheers!
It helps a lot! Thank you Peter!
Thank you man!!!!!!!!!! That Roll Axis was super tight, almost return it.
one of the best videos ive found on how to balance gimbals!!
Thank you for making this video mate...Really helped me fine tune my set up.
Thats the guide how to properly balance that gimbal. Great tip with the roll motor. Thanks!
Hi, I just want to say thank you so much. I couldn’t figure out the roll balancing, but your video and explanation helped me solve it. Thank you.
THX this was the ROLL axis issue that I have - thx for help!
First try and it works as shown with the Blackmagic 4K no plate nothing else but what you've shown. Subscribed.
BEST balance video for rs2 on youtube+
Nice just the issue that I was having with the roll motor. This helped a lot.
Thanks !! Solved my problem !
great to hear mate!!!!
Best gimbal balancing tutorial I've seen yet!
so this is the solution ive been looking for on my RS 3, thank you so much
Damn, look at those gimbals. Goals!!!
Very nice tutorial! Thank you sir!
Best RS2 balancing video on CZcams thank you so much. Subbed
Thanks mate.
out of all the CZcams videos this is by far the best my gimbal has never been smooth thanks bro
The best explanation of all the videos i have seen so far. Thank you
Thanks mate.
Great tip on the tighten
MAN, you save me. Thanks a lot.
wah thanks so much, you help me solve the roll axis problem
Thanks man!
Great tutorial, the best on youtube. Thanks so much for this video.
Thanks!
Thanks... It works... I have had this issue ever since I got the gimbal.
great to hear mate.
thank you very much bro you save my money. 👍👍👍👍
I just got the rs2. Learned the electro gimbal craft on the weebill s, the tank that can take a fall but has no replacement parts immediately available. Tighten these nuts!
Thank you 😊,what mode do you use when shooting, ptf or pf
Finally!! It worked
Great video.
Thanks man.
Should mention that if having a heavy setup, the roll axis will still fall back to the center regardless how tight the knob is. This issue is still present. Though DJI says its fine because the motors are strong enough to compensate. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing.
Been trying to figure that out recently. I’ve magically been able to balance the 18-35 sigma art series 1.8 with a canon c70 and an BP a60 battery for a ballast weight - a good handful of times but not reliably. Just tried today and couldn’t get the gimbal to balance without violent vibrations and a poor balance warning. Picked up a roll motors counter weight from tilta and hoping that might help, also looking a some drop weight options off the sled since the tilt motor is fairly easy to balance with this setup, but the roll motor with lots or front and rear weight is almost impossible.
Anything else I should be looking at for this setup? about to take it as the B-cam in a massive run and gun shoot for the next couple of weeks.
my setup is not that heavy its just 3lb and I can't make it work, I try to tight the lock and it doesn't work, help
@@nvargas331 does it still pass the test though? I just got back from a gig where I flew the gimbal 7 days straight in a variety of different setups. Got pretty good at balancing it too, but I did notice a few things. With the heavier setups I had to use counter weights under the cam sled and roll arm for best results. Also, once the battery got down around 50% I had noticeably less long term performance and would get random jitter issues or see the gimbal be more sensitive with only slight weight changes do to either using the zoom lens or leaning the gimbal forward at a 30 degree angle. As for the roll arm, it would stay put when upside down but not right side up - which I found interesting. With your lighter setup you shouldn’t being having roll arm issues. Check the vertical balance and tilt first, I’ve found the slightest changes still make a big difference. Also, what lens are you trying to balance with? If you aren’t able to even out your weight on the front and back end you might need to add sled weight.
Wish I read this before going nuts! Thanks!!!!
This was golden!
Thank you.
...I can't believe I didn't realize this was how you were supposed to use those handles!! haha oh wow it seems so obvious now. I even disassembled one to try and make it tighter, without much luck - it didn't occur to me that the spring on the spline was for this purpose, and I do a lot of mechanical design... eesh! THANKS! I'm going to go die from shame now, hah.
Thank you very much for the advice at the 6th minute. I did not understand why the roll motor did not stay in its position.
I didnt even know it was an issue 😁 thank you very much!
Always mate.
Nice vidéo. Very Nice Tip, It help a lot
You nail it Bro 🙏🏼
Thanks❤
5:50 Dude Thanks for this advice, this was the reason why my gimbal was not always well balanced. Great channel, good tips! I also have a problem with the tilt motor because when I change the focus (canon RF 50mm 1.2 L) depending on the focal length, the glasses move forward or backward and that puts a strain on the tilt motor. Some solution for that?
You been such a help, when i pan left and right on my gamble it moves slow how can i speed up the pan? i am new to DJI rs2
what about that trick on the RSC2? I havent been able to balance it properly
mannnnnn i don't know how to thank u...its like no one knows about this but u..
Hi do you know of the light on the handle when charging, after charging does the light goes off once charge completely?
Hi Peter, I have a sony ax700. Can it be balanced on a DJI RS2?
Wow, I did not know about the trick of tightening the tilt arm so much.
Hi Peter, I am trying to balance a much heavier setup, the RED Komodo with sigma 18-35 and a follow focus. I have the tilt axis and pan axis balanced perfectly but I keep having the roll axis return to the center even with the clamp signed down as much as I can, any recommendations? Thank you!
Yes, if you slightly adjust the tilt arm up and counter adjust the baseplate then you should get the perfect balance point for the roll axis. This trick often worked do me.
@@PeterMakholm DUDE you are THE MAN! it worked thanks so much!!
Best roll axis solve, only one i got
Your videos are of great help for me. I have a question about using a zoom lens on the gimbal: I set the zoom at the middle of the zoom range and balance the gimbal, so that I can change the zoom focus length later without having to rebalance it, using gimbal's motor strength. But I'm not sure if this can damage the motors? Is this an acceptable or bad approach?
Hi. That is also how I doo it. You won't damage the motors.
I’m running into an issue where the second part of the tilt motor looks like the screw plate is going in uneven. Are you having that issue? I noticed that you said it feels like you have to tighten the screw more than you think, I wonder if I’m not tightening it enough. Thanks for the helpful video!
Peter the same goes for RSC2;
Because I have the same issue but I have RSC2.
I don't have the same issue on the RSC2. Try to lift the tilt arm a bit when you tighten the knob
Wow I didn’t know about tightening, I wonder if that’s what make my video wobble
Quick question. Im using external monitor (Ninja V) with HDMI cable, and other cables on my camera. I should balance with everything hooked up right? When I do this with my camera mounted vertically i get wobble... I must be doing somehting wrong
Yes but for the RSC2?
Hello. How are you? I have a question. How many degrees does that "roll" motor turn? Rotate 360 degrees? If it doesn't rotate 360 degrees, what is the limit? Thank you.
5:52 I’ve been having that roll axis issue. I’ve tightened it to where I can’t tighten it anymore and still get the issue with a a7III and sigma 14-24
Hey I’m having some issues with pan axis no matter how hard I try to balance it comes back to one point 😒 does anyone else have that issues or Peter can you do a video on that
Im still a bit confused. What exactly did you do to fix the issue? my knob is all the way to the right, how can you make it it go any tighter?
I just bought an RS3 and even though it seems and reads like it's properly balanced it will think it's unbalanced and go into sleep mode as soon as I lock any axis. I'm trying to prevent the gimbal from moving at all besides basic up and down and side to side but it moves at every axis or it wants to shut down. Please help.
About the Roll axis :what if it lose control after a certain way.?? It is happening to me. 2 white mark on roll axis, whenever I take the axis over it, it automatically fall through
Why did you abandon Zhiyun Weebill S? I watched your reviews and purchased one. I learned a lot from you and love your work.
Gotta go for quality.
Hi Andre. I did not abandon it fully, I still use it for tutorials and workshops. I am now using the S1H as my main camera, and the weebill S is to small for that camera setup. This is why I am using the DJI RS2 & RSC2 as my main production gimbals. They can both take the S1H.
@@PeterMakholm I understand and recognize the validity and expertise in your decisions. Thank you for sharing!
Tried to look everywhere with mo luck if a smartphone (Samsung S22 ultra) an be balanced on DJI rs2, many thanks
I have a RSC2 and no matter what I do the roll axis always go back to the center. I also get a very jittery footage I wonder if that's related to that at all!? I have read on forums and many people are getting jittery footages as well what to do in this situation?
The same for me. Did you find a solution ?
Hi guys, I have the rs2 I was shooting today and after a while the gimbal started to go crazy, what I may have done wrong? There is any video showing this problem or how to avoid it?
I’ve balanced everything, gotten an excellent rating on the app, tightened my roll screw to the max and still my roll axis returns to center, I’m on the RSC2
Same problem here
My set up is a canon 6dmkii with a sigma 24mm 1.4 and I can't make it, doesn't matter how much I try to tight is like it doesn't work, its not that heavy like 3lb, anyone know a solution? it keeps returning, this might affect the motors or the shots later?
And when I tighten the roll axis a lot, I have left and right rocking again. What could be the problem?
What about RSC2
I had the roll issue you were showing. Unfortunately I have the Ronin SC so I can’t use the tightening trick you showed.
Is it the Ronin S you have?
@@PeterMakholm Ooops, I hâd the wrong letters. It's a the older Ronin SC. Your older video actually had advice on a gimbal without and adjustment directly on the roll axis. czcams.com/video/PYfPHRsBOH0/video.html
tighten lock ?! that's it. I'm doing to try this. been having the horizontal wobbles.
The rsc2 has the same roll axis problem and cannot be fixed
To me happens a really strange thing it, stays at like 10 degrees but over that it rotates to upside down or to the stop
Hi peter. I have this problem with my new RS3. I have super tightened the roll axis lever but the problem still exists. what can I do? plzzzzzzz help meeee
my camera is Sony a7siii with Sony 35mm f1.8 if it is important
The video I was looking for to solve my problem , damn dji tutorial videos form their actual CZcams page suck lol
I’m a huge fan of Mons Royale too 🤩🐏
JA, Det er top fedt tøj.
Og tak for balance tips
please help! Im using a DJI RSC2. My roll axis always returns to horizontal, and will not stay in one place. Tighting the circular knob does not fixx it like this method. What can i do ??
im using an a7iii so its not that heavy is it?
You need to move the tilt arm a bit up and re adjust the baseplate and you will have perfect balance. I am talking about small adjustments
I have RS3 and there is no longer a 'balance test' - just single motor autotune. The extra tightening of all levers = best balance -> not sure why DJI makes no mention of this critical point!
