[How To] Enable a Disabled FMCB Memory Card Tutorial

- Today's video I show you how to "re-enable" FMCB if you somehow accidentally disabled FMCB, which means you are unable to gain access to the FMCB main home screen.
The solution is very simple, and I'll show how it works in today's video tutorial.
I got this idea based upon a youtube viewer comment, so I want to thank my viewer base for bringing up useful content ideas!

I fucked up, I deleted a corrupted save file from the memory card and didn't realize it was free mcboot!! how do I enable again?
You need a way to run the exploit installer. If you are lucky your ps2 might be able to run freedvdboot. See a freedvdboot video to see what the process is. If it can run the disc, then you can rerun the fmcb installer elf file from usb and be back in business.
What version did they start this with? I have 1.93 and whoopsied the option to get into the configurator. Your trick isn't working - it's just taking me back to the regular FMCB menu. Might have to re-burn FreeDVDBoot and do it that way.
[EDIT] Turns out I had to put a boot.elf file onto a USB drive, then boot up with R1 and that got me back up 👍🏻

I bought a modded ps2 with free mcboot, it just stopped going into OPL (normally it qould start up in the opl menu) it just goes back to the original ps2 menu 😭
How did you get the free mcboot config on yr console, cause the only option I get is browser and system config

The most obvious question from me is did you contact the seller for help? I'm very curious of what their response/action is. I do sell FMCB memory cards, and I advise my users to confirm what is their PS2 model first to ensure it is FMCB compatible. Otherwise, you will want to use something like Fortuna Project if you have a PS2 slim.

Can this apply to FHDB as well? Because I had FHDB set up on my PS2, and now whenever I turn on my PS2, for whatever reason, it only shows me the main browser screen like an unmodded PS2 would have. I don't believe that I did anything, but I'm definitely going to try this to see if I messed up the settings somehow. Any other ideas as to what my problem would be?
Yeah that wasn't my problem. I don't know why I can't access FHDB. I may just have to redo the whole mod.

Help it doesn’t work. While I was playing my sister unplugged my console while I was playing god of war. When I turned it on the opl didn’t work. After restarting it didn’t even show the free Mcboot logo

I'm pretty sure i did this to myself trying to get GSM on my system. When i boot i load into hdboot from the memory card which is strange, but opl and all my games are gone. i think i may have messed up paths when installing. i am still able to launch LaunchELF by pressing r1 + triangle but im unsure if or how i can fix freemcboot through launchelf

Use OPL and have to manually load it every time after power up to see list of games
i deleted the corrupted files on my memory and now free mc boot doesn’t work (realized later that i shouldn’t have done that) i still can access the menu, and i still get the free mcboot screen, the only thing is that is not accessing opl :( is there an easy fix?
You can reinstall OPL if you can still get into fmcb, that is not an issue.

Follow up: it had a spot of corrosion and works correctly if slightly pulled out the memory slot
Damn dude. I have been recently selling FMCB/Fortuna cards on ebay here and there. For sure mine would have worked and you will always get my support and my videos to back me up. Go back to the seller and ask for refund/help. Maybe clean said memory card, could be contact reader issue. Let me know how it goes, very interested if you can bounce back.

Your ps2 has an internal hard drive preloaded with FHDB is my guess.

If you got configurator great, configure path to .elf files and save.

This is really frustrating. If I was the buyer, I would go back to the seller and ask for help! Curious what he/she says about it. When I supply FMCB memory cards, I always have it go to the FMCB boot screen, not straight to OPL. This method per the video worked for me. If you run OPL and exit OPL, where does it take you? Back to OPL or the FMCB home screen? Maybe if you have a ulaunchelf ISO disguised as a game, we can boot into it and then reinstall FMCB so you get homescreen back.
It doesn’t do that when I hold start why?
Maybe it's time to clean the memory card contacts or replace the whole card altogether.

Time to reinstall it if you have another way to boot homebrew media. Freedvdboot maybe good starting point.
My problem isn't that .... I played once in the settings. And got out rested my ps2 and when i turn it again... The opl program freeze ( the small circle in the corner ) ..... Any one know how to fix it ...... Also my memory card has a corrupted data 💀
Maybe memory card has bad sectors? If you can get back to homebrew again, run MC Annhilator v2 to format the card, then reinstall fmcb.

Maybe its not booting into FMCB at all and the file system is messed up. Did you see if the RESCUE.ELF method worked or not? If not, then you need to find a way to reinstall fmcb.

I have a little bit problem from starting ps2 with fmcb
I'm using ps2 slim SCPH-90004 and I installed fmcb on my mc and every thing is fine but when I want to restart my ps2 it wont start with fmcb even with the logo of that it just start normally and if I want to start fmcb I have to insert my disc that have fmcb installer and from there I can lunch fmcb.
I'm asking is there a way that I can start it without dick just normally with fmcb?

Reinstall them. If you don't have an entry point, look into freedvdboot and if that disc boots, then you can install fmcb again
I don't know the problem. The ps2 was working, but it started not working. When I click start, the word disabled appears. I hope someone can help me.

I don't see how if you get it enabled great or reinstall it. Look into freedvdboot, your ps2 maybe compatible so you may not need to worry if you need to install fmcb again on your own.

Can you ask the seller for help? My concern is it really 64mb or a low capacity card spoofed to higher capacity?

but you have to either buy a preset memory card or you can mod it yourself thru a fat ps2 thats how i did it

Is the memory card even working in the first place? If you can read it, then if fmcb is installed, it should run, or reinstall it if you have the proper tools

If this method doesn't work then perhaps the memory card itself is corrupted and its time to do a fresh install.

@@Xedrie I had a mod-chipped PS2, I had to keep R1 or R2 pressed everytime I turned it on for the FMCB to appear.

Clean the memory card contacts, or look at the contact reader on the ps2 possibly make sure there is enough pressure during contact alignment

Yeah, i have problem with playing movies, i must find a movie below 1GB or i will get lags. And i dont really know what .avi can i reproduce. And i like when stuff is simple, i dont have freemcboot, i only have a cd with sms player on it and a flash drive with movies, and that's it. really simple. Thanks!

I need help!!!, the memory card containing mcboot got corrupted so a friend gave me his own memory card that contains mcboot, it loads normal to browser and configuration menu but never loads the mcboot menu, what seems to be the problem.
Does mcboot work fine on his PS2? If yes, then reinstall mcboot on your original memory card
