Apart from Steven Spielberg, I would argue no other living filmmaker has his kind of range. I mean he could do crime movies, thrillers, religious movies, family movies, musicals, biopics, romance, comedies, and even has a western movie coming up. This guy could definitely do it all!
I definitely agree. The one stat about Scorsese that blows my mind is that he’s the only director in history to direct multiple films that received at least 10 Oscar nominations that failed to win any. Gangs of New York (which if I can be honest shouldn’t have received that many nominations) and The Irishman.
The Wolf of Wall Street is EASILY his best film in my opinion and one of the best films of all time.
I'm shocked no one mentioned After Hours.
I can’t find any videos on Martin Scorsese talking about retirement! He’s 80 years old and he keeps making movies!! He was literally born to make film! 🎥
1) departed
2) casino
3) the wolf of wall street
4) gangs of new york
5) shutter island
1. Goodfellas
2. The Departed
3. Raging Bull
4. Wolf of Wall Street
5. The Irishman
6. Taxi Driver
7. Casino
8. Shutter Island
9. Gangs of New York
10. Mean Streets
When we think of a Masterful filmmaker like Scorsese the last thing I think of is his comments about the Mcu that was really random to even be brought up
Goodfellas is not only my favorite Martin Scorsese movie but one of my all time favorite movies
After Hours is his most underrated movie. It's such a great, comedic gem.
Top 5 Scorsese films:
1) Goodfellas
2) The Departed
3) Taxi Driver
4) Wolf
5) Mean Streets
Sadly ive only 6 six scorsese, only coz not all his movies appeal to me.
1. Goodfellas
2. Shutter island
3. Taxi driver
4. The departed
5. Aviator
6. Hugo
2 of Best directors of all time in my opinion right after Spielberg. Top 5 1.goodfellas 2.departed 3.wolf of wall street 4.raging bull 5.taxi driver

Wolf Of Wall Street is my favorite Scorsese movie
The one Scorsese film that always stands out in my head is Taxi Driver. That was a very unique experience. I just remember the hypnotic rhythm of the film and the atmosphere of it. It's one of the most unique movie experiences I've ever had. It leaves you in this very interesting vibe by the end.
Accurate description. The film is a masterpiece.
I gotta say that generally speaking I’m not really a *HUGE* Martin Scorsese fan, mainly because the types of movies he likes to make the most (Gangster movies) is a genre that I don’t particularly care for, but there have been 3 of his movies that I absolutely love, all of which I would say are also 3 of his most underrated movies
1: Silence
2: Shutter Island
3: Cape Fear
Scorsese makes FAR more than gangster movies.
It was hard to put together my top ten but here it is, hopefully I didn't miss one while going of my memory.
1) Goodfellas
2) Wolf of Wall Street
3) Casino
4) Gangs of New York
5) The Departed
6) Raging Bull
7) King of Comedy
8) Mean Streets
9) Taxi Driver
10) The Color of Money
'Casino' is my favorite.
1. Raging Bull
2. Goodfellas
3. Taxi Driver
4. Mean Streets
5. The Departed.
But to me Casino...was Goodfellas x2...yes I can't say Casino is better technically but feels more epic.
goodfellas clears, number 1 movie Scorsese movie easily
I loved Killers of the Flowers Moon
man what u guys shoulda done with these best films lists of these legendary directors like Scorsese and Spielberg was announce it ahead of time so u guys and all of us have enough time to rewatch all of or as many of their films as we can and then come up with these lists
1. The departed - easily!
2. Goodfellas
3. The wolf of wall street
4. Cape fear
5. Taxi driver
His captivating performance in 2004s Shark Tale. ART!
The Departed has got to be my favorite of the lot. I admittedly haven't seen a lot of his biggest ones like Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, and Raging Bull, but The Departed was great. The Wolf of Wall Street was awesome. I think Shutter Island is tremendously underrated and Hugo is honestly an incredibly beautiful love letter to movies. Gangs of New York is awesome just for the ferocious DDL, who is honestly terrifying in the film.
Shutter island has zero rewatchability
@@astralnight3493 I've watched it at least three times, so you should have said that, "Shutter Island has zero rewatchability for you personally."
One of the GOATS
1) Casino
2) Wolf of Wall Street
3) Goodfellas
4) the departed
5) shutter island
Something that didn't get a mention that I love is his documentary work. Shine A Light, No Direction Home and what I consider to be his best film, The Last Waltz.
Call me unoriginal but I still think Wolf of Wall Street is the one I’d watch over any of his other works
It’s a movie that is entertaining to watch and funny at the same time unintentionally and intentionally but never bores you
Can’t say the same about some of his other movies🤷♂️
Legendary director
Happy Birthday to the King of Cinema.
5: Bringing out the Dead
4: After Hours
3: King of Comedy
2: Casino
1:Wolf of Wall Street
Mean Streets baby!
HBD to one of the 🐐. 👏🏼💐
“Stupid comments about comic books movies” Jesus Christ, he said something ONCE (and was 1000% correct, btw) and the most annoying CBM fans are STILL butthurt about it. And I say that as a CBM fan myself.
I agree but when you make a an arrogant comment like him about something like comics you should expect exactly this type of reception. Honestly I'm sure Scorsese is smart enough to know that only thing is he doesn't care lol. I mean he's right but to make popcorn movies seem like some type of taboo also isn't right. I just chalk it up to old people being bitter and young people being sensitive lol. At the end of the day it's all the same thing.
@@markusbisma5015 He's easily in the debate for greatest director of all time so I'd be lying if I said a cosign from him wouldn't be cool but I get what you mean. I think it's the smugness of shrugging off a genre you don't even watch lol. Besides every one forgets comic fans haven't been in an ongoing debate with Scorsese this whole time. He's too busy being prolific as fuck lol. Every one's been arguing with pretentious film fans in comment sections. I mean imagine how many people who hate comic book movies felt somehow vindicated that day.
he did not say it once my friend
@@dmat606 he said it once (in response to an interview question) and then had to keep clarifying because the fucking mouth-breathers couldn’t stop crying about it.
My favorite film of Martin Scorsese is the one that he’s someday going to direct for Kevin Feige.
I could imagine wolf of Wallstreet rewrote to star Tony Stark.
And for those who didn't know, he directed Michael Jackson's BAD Music Video! If you watch the Bad 25 documentary, you can learn more there!
Mean Streets should be on this weird ass list, if for no other reason then that it unleashed Deniro on the world. Taxi Driver is the movie that made me want to some to L.A. and be a part of this industry. I always wanted to be the thing I saw in the movies, I wanted to a marine biologist because of Jaws, I wanted to be a FBI agent because of Silence Of The Lambs...Shit, I thought Ghostbusting was a viable career. But it wasn't until I saw Taxi Driver that it all clicked into place. I didn't want to be Travis Bickle, I realized it was the filmmakers who made me want to be those things. And I thought THAT'S what I need to do.
1. Taxi Driver
2. Goodfellas
3. Raging Bull
4. Gangs Of New York
5. The Aviator
There are so many movies I had to leave off it's still bothering me. The Last Waltz, The George Harrison Doc, The Departed, and on and on. Who's been a more reliable director than him? Maybe Spielberg, but even Spielberg I imagine would bend the knee to Martin.
1.Goodfellas
2.Raging Bull
3.Wolf of Wall Street
4.Casino
5.Silence
1. Taxi Driver/Raging Bull/Silence (Can't rank which is my number 1 as these 3 are my favorites of his)
2. Shutter Island
3. The Departed
4. Goodfellas
5. Wolf of Wall Street
Hugo is my least favorite of his work but it is still entertaining which shows how good is works are.
Hello-
my top #1 favorite Scorsese film is Hugo for the simple reason its the most un-Scorsese of his films.
1 after hours
2 taxi driver
3 king of comedy
4 raging bull
5 rolling thunder revue
Two underrated MS films are King of Comedy and After Hours.
King of comedy is great!
Top three Scorsese films
Goodfellas
Raging Bull
The Age of Innocence (underrated)
No one mentioned Hugo (2011) I see 💀
I'm a big fan of him. But, I'm almost embarrassed that, I tried, tried and tried to watch Silence several times but I just wasn't able to ever finish.
I have seen it twice.
Hated the first time.
Was drawn to it for some reason.
Loved it the second time.
Was that because it was too sad?
@@Hamish_Wright I found it too slow and dragging m to be honest. But may be I just need to stick with it until the end.
@@777tercera It's definitely a slow burn, but the ending is so impactful, I would definitely recommend finishing it if you can.
1) Goodfellas
2) The King of Comedy
