- Ranking Every Oculus Headset EVER...
In Todays video I rank each of the 7 Oculus/Facebook made headsets from best to worst on a tier list. From the first Oculus Rift DK1, to the Oculus Go, Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift S, and of course the Oculus Quest 2. These are some of the most important headsets in VR history.

My channel is about VR Content (obviously lol) I've covered many topics on this channel in the past such as PC Building, PC Gaming Knowledge, Gaming News. That can be CPM rates, Industry knowledge, Business knowledge, how to edit, how to build a gaming PC, budget or not. But VR is cooler so I'm probably gonna keep doing that.
I'm like the monkey you send into space for tests. I just come back with the results and give them to you for FREE.

Anyone watching this when the quest 3 is out
Yea I got one for Christmas
Yeah I'm considering getting one
Me
Yup
I am
So far the quest 2 has been the best. Ive tried a few and the quest was so freeing and felt like true vr
Same
My friend has a quest and i have a quest 2 and his felt so tight
They do feel free
But the problem is that it needs facebook
@@Gamingman8489 why everyone is freaking out about facebook?
Favorite by far is the Rift S. It's my first VR headset and has been insanely durable.
I had so many problems with mine and returned it
I just got an oculus rift cv1 , paired it with my pc and jumped at NMS.
i have never, ever used vr before.
it is such a nice experience.
only downside is that someone mentioned the proprietary cable to me and now i have them stashed in its case and saving for an oculus quest 2 to continue with my vr gaming.
Quest two has been my favorite so far. So great, and very affordable! I feel like lots of people can now play VR. Before, only the rich people could. Now we can meet many more people and play more games! I also love the constant updates and the long list of features. Pretty amazing! Love your videos and thank you for informing us of all the stuff! It’s crazy to see the evolution of VR!
I hadn't really bothered keeping tabs o them until this year assuming they were still 5-10 then I met coach... Mine QUest 2 arriving today.
Yeah. Nice btw!
:)
It’s so true I love the quest 2 especially using the air link or oculus link to play steam vr games!!
@@gamingmoment1061 thats the main reason for me, cant wait for mine to arrive monday
I like the Quest 1 because it really brought the possibilities of VR to the surface, and got a lot of people into VR.
Same i have a place in my heart because it was my first vr headset BTW quest 2 wasn't out yet
quest 1 goated
id say the quest 2 REALLY brought it into the lime light tho. every Christmas there are millions more being sold. the quest 1 just wasn't refined but it showed people that stand alone vr WAS possible.
My friend gave me his old quest without a head strap that I managed to find out how to keep on my face using a certain cloth, and I love it
That doesn’t take away from the fact quest 2 is basically a better version of quest 1
At first I was regretting my Quest 2 when watching this but now I'm glad I got it since it's practically the best version along with some of the Rifts.
Thank you for this video, you have cleared up many of my questions and i am now more confident with my choice of vr headset i will be getting.
Sadly I'm slightly biased for the quest 2 but the rift s will be my favourite headset as it got me into vr
Same here but soon I’m selling my rift s after only a year, recently I just stopped being able to run games on it and that never used to happen and I can no longer be bothered with technical difficulties and I’m getting a quest 2 and my pc will only be used for screen games, kinda funny how I can run red dead with decent graphics settings at 60 fps but can only run rec room at 40 fps now, too many issues with rift s like the robot mic and stuff though it did bring me many fun days
The vive got me into vr gaming back in 2018 I didn’t own it there was a place I would go to with my dad to play half an hour was 20 pounds but it got me into vr gaming so it’s gonna be my favourite
Bias for quest 2 my favorite and only one
Bro same
The only issue with the rift s is that with software support it was left in the dust compared to the quest line of headsets lol
The Quest 2 blew the others out of the water. It was the first headset to really become mainstream and introduced the whole genre to average people. I think it's done more to expand the community than anything else.
I also started with it, but it kinda ended me into a hole where I no longer play vr. I really loved the pavlov community and I really was happy when playing it, but now since it broke now I just kinda play pc games and work on school more. Taking me away from vr until the quest pro comes out.
@@mrmeep47 is that a thing?
@yeetice His headset broke
I think a mash up of the oculus rift and the quest 2 could give a great system with some moding making the quest 2's camera tracking and insides mixed with the body of a oculus rift with some holes for the cameras could help make a better system because the sound could come out of the headphones for better sound quality plus the no tethers needed for it making this a good combo
I love how the quest 2 manages to bring really good new experiences and be affordable, when i asked my mom if i could get one she said that the price for a vr headset was too good to be true
Quest 2 easily for being packed with software, games and features, capability to be used freely without a PC as well as the option to be used as a PCVR headset, and continued support through updates and experimental features. At the price point it's hard to justify any other headset especially when the competitors are easily double the price or more in some cases. The fact that it's basically good to go out of the box with almost no setup also makes it incredibly accessible and user friendly

I personally love this quest 2 for 2 reasons 1. It's stand alone 2. I haven't tried any other lol I love quest content btw
Yeah true
@shawn fitzgerald what do you mean ?? You can stream games on oculus ?
I have the quest and quest 2 and the only thing I prefer from the og quest is the OLED screen and the controllers. Man those controllers are awesome Wish they were interchangeable
Well, no shit you love the quest 2 if it's the only VR headset you've tried...
I love how hot it gets on my face in the winter
The CV1 will always have a special place in my heart, I might never use it again due to it's specs but I will certainly never ever forget it. My first "VR experience" may have technically been with a £30 phone VR headset but the CV1 feels like the real first step I took into the VR world.
Best vr of all time I love it and the built in headphones also does not look horrible I play with mine so much I also love how cheap it is for pretty much a cheaper version of the htc vive and controllers feel so much better for me
@@Lowon_1 Yeah I still prefer the rift touch controllers to the quest 2 touch controllers.

From the POV of a literal child I can say the oculus quest 2 is my favorite VR headset (yes I have tried others) Here’s why, while being a very affordable headset it can compete with other expensive headsets like the valve index. The quest is also very simple to set up it took all of ten minutes the most consuming part being making a Facebook account. It also gives light to unpopular games on vr with the app lab and I don’t know about you but I sweat a lot and the oculus can handle it unlike the valve index and the 120 hertz refresh rate is insane I have a friend who has a quest one he tried my quest to and could instantly tell the difference while the head strap is garbage you can get a better one for only forty dollars on Amazon. And being the gorilla tag player I am I can confirm the controllers are seriously durable I’ve hit them so hard I could probably break your nose and it doesn’t even scratch also yes I am in the age recommendation I’m thirteen please don’t give your seven year old one it will open them up to a world of bad things from people.

Minus the mic bugs, controller build quality, poor audio, and not being able to track in the dark.
BUT to be fair, the Quest 2 has most of these same problems too and I'd deal with a cable over a poor battery life any day."
Better then a Rift tho? More convenient for sure but idk about better overall.
@@AceTheOcarinaMaker The only Reason why this happens is probably because it was the 4th Vr headset and they said it took 5 years to make the 5 headsets so that means the Rift S had 1 year till it was fully published so that's what I think and oculus made its first Headset in 2016. I had the same thing! Mic bug, and the Poor Audio. The Reason why it was not able to be tracked in the dark because Oculus still was learning on how Vr headsets can be changed and can be easily fixed with some good light or some bright Led's. Don't worry though, some Rift S Headsets actually do really good like mine. No robotic mic and no Poor audio. Just Many good memories, and laughs.
@@AceTheOcarinaMaker Great take
@@AceTheOcarinaMaker . Audio is pretty bad, but its the exact same on the quests and not being able to track in the dark makes perfect sense. But I do agree that controller build quality is terrible.
The only downside I have really had was the mic being robotic sounding but other than that yeah the RIFT S is probably my favorite I haven't had a lot of problems with it
My rift S has treated me well so far, as someone that uses it mostly for VRChat and changing things for quality of life fixes, like using a Bluetooth gaming headset for a mic and audio instead of the built in mic and "Rifting" I have very little issue with it.
Tho the OG quest is actually just better (and cheaper lmao)

I’ve had the quest 1 quest 2 and rift s, I’d say for PC vr the rift s is better in every single aspect then the one and two, I’ve recently gotten the HTC vive and it’s amazing but I personally never had a issue with the rift s, I’d give it a solid 8/10 everyone I know that uses it loves it, it still holds up today I’d say
my first ever vr experience was on the oculus dk1, back then it was amazing and I remember thinking "wtf this looks like real life".
quest 2 is an amazing platform to play on especially considering its has the same pricing of a new gen gaming console. And since its cheaper people can just get their hands on one easily and its growing the vr community
My favorite is the quest 2. It is finally a headset that I can comfortably recommend to all of my friends and family. But the original rift will always have a special place in my heart as it got me into VR and turned me into a VR enthusiast.
thanks for this video but, should i buy the oculus go? is it worth it?
My favorite is the Rift S due to it being my starting headset and the head strap design. Also the fact that I know how to mod the headset very well. If you disagree then you are most likely a newer person to the vr community don't know the significance of when inside out came out. I also skipped the quest 1 and have a quest 2 and got 2, 64 GB ones before they stopped selling them.
I LOVE the cv1. While I do prefer the q2, I think having a cv1 is amazing. It feels better when I am playing Lone Echo, and overall makes it a bit more immersive.
I got my Rift a while ago. At the time it was a powerful headset. I still love it because of the price, external sensors, and comfort. my favorite.
I really enjoy my Rift S, but I definitely recommend getting a Quest 2 for the time being.
i loved my rift s but unfortunantly its cable finally gave out the other day and it started disconnecting too much to be usable, ive had it for 2 years and i believe it deserves a better ranking than it got since at the time of its release it was quite a good headset and if you already had a gaming computer and wanted to dive into vr it was a great option, unfortunantly though since the cables arent made anymore at this point you might aswell spend a bit of extra money to get a quest 2 like you said over even just buying a new cable for a rift s
I first got into VR when my dad got the Gear VR for Samsung. I fell in love with it and saw videos. The problem was I couldn’t play any good games (equivalent to the oculus go pretty much), and you needed a phone constantly in there. I figured out all the fun games the CZcamsrs were playing like beat saber and stuff was only on PC. I had a MacBook… For people like me, the quest was heaven as it gave us hope to play good games without a pc or phone (my dad was mostly not home to use his Samsung anyway). The thing was heaven, and I like everything about it better than the quest 2 except the fatal flaw being on how heavy it is. I always play with my friends with it and need breaks after a while cuz my head starts hurting, but it still does last awhile (it’s works even better cause I bought a weight on the back to make it less front heavy). Anyway, I can’t seem to find a way to get the quest 2, just isn’t worth it. All the features including airline and all the games are on the quest 1, and everything about it is better except the weight and obviously the slightly better graphics and stuff but it’s not really noticed with modern games and such.
**Oculus Quest 1 the best for me and also brought most people to VR from what I can tell. The new generation alpha and crap be coming from quest 2, but that doesn’t cover on how great the quest 1 is. Anyway, if you don’t have a VR currently get the quest 2 for sure tho as the weight ain’t worth it, plus quest 1 is discontinued anyway.**

Quest 2 doesn't have bad audio at all, especially for it to be a speaker 2 inches away. It's very bass-y and it doesn't really project into the room as much as you'd think
I have a Rift S and a Quest 2. I find myself going towards the S more often than not because the head strap is the best and toughest strap I've ever seen on a Vr headset
I’ve had tracking issues with my quest 2, so is there anything better than that? Or something I can do to fix the tracking? I have bright lighting and no shiny screens or lights, so I’m not to sure on what to do, when playing beat saber it won’t let me hit the blocks
The oculus quest 2 is my favourite headset, because it got me into VR in the first place, and the reason why I am here watching your amazing videos! I know it’s got some bad things about it, but I feel like it is so far the best option for standalone VR.

The Quest (1&2) is just such an insane value proposition for the money that you pay it makes it so hard not to give it top spot constantly. That it gives you such phenomenal stand alone experiences AND gets you into the PCVR world at SUCH a low cost (assuming you have a VR capable PC) is just unreal. And to be able to do that wirelessly and be so stable is mind blowing. Like it's legitimately as simple as starting the virtual desktop streamer on my PC, then turn on my headset and go to the app and within 30 seconds I'm in playing HL Alyx. Just amazing.
im happy that you put the sk1 in s tier and i never realised it worked with tf2 so imma try that out
This video has given me great hope and excitement to get a vr head seat of my own!
I’d say my favourite oculus head set (from someone who has only been in vr once) would be the oculus rift. Solely because it was my first exposure to vr, I remember watching a ton of CZcamsrs make videos on it/with it and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It sparked my desire for vr and the wonders it can bring. I’m waiting to buy a headset until after the announcement thing since the chance of an updated quest model being announced is almost guaranteed
Just wanted to say thanks for all your videos helping me understand vr. I was going to buy a valve without a pc which would've been bad. Now I'm going to buy a quest 2 and I know all the accessories to buy for a better experience. So thank you for the tips and advice
Hi. I don t know how things with VR works. Do you need just the VR or you need the VR and a computer or a PS?
i have hardly ANY expirience w/ vr so this like this helps alot, i'm so glad i bought the quest 2.
Got into VR with Windows Mixed Reality but now that I am on the Quest 2 I can't go back, the versatility of being cordless or on my PC is amazing and the price point for entry is very enticing
Admittedly the Oculus rift is my favourite, probably as it's the sole one I own- I have tried the Quest, and while it's alot more portable/accessible, it didn't have the same I guess... "Snap", to it? Like some movements feeling sluggish or delayed, so I do prefer the exterior sensors and the reaction speed they provided!

My all time favourite oculus is probably the quest 2 because of its design how affordable it is, and because I like the color white. I also like it because of how many games you can play on it. I think the controller design is what I love the most, the ring that goes all the way around your hand is very cool.
I have a question:
should I get the rift for a PCVR headset? I have the quest but I’m having trouble with link cables and airplay and crap, so I decided I wanted a PCVR (which honestly would be good for playing vr games with better graphics for my “graphics” side) which one should I get? Rift? I don’t know about the valve index i.e being to much and just from what I’ve seen but the best quality. I have an okay budget and could probably get enough money from Christmas or birthday.
I recommend you to buy Windows Mixed Reality headset, but I think hp reverb g2 is the best headset for pcvr.
i tested the dk1 when they first set up booths of it before the full release. at the time it only had 3dof tracking and the calibration was god-awful. there were two demos, one was a space simulator and the other was some sort of elephant simulator where you swung your trunk around and destroyed stuff by turning your head. i just remember it taking soooooo long to set up for each person.
was it dumpy going elephants?
Personally, I love the Quest 2, it has all of the VR games I've always wanted to play, it has cross play across multiple headsets, and a live and welcoming community!

I would say the Quest 2 is the best headset. It was a big leap for wireless VR and really just shows how far we've come in just 6 or 7 years.
Same
Personally I just can't say I really give af abt wireless but I get the appeal
True dat
The dk1 is the best tho. It has the highest quality.
best oculus headset other than the rift s, same amount of problems, but ones wireless
My favorite headset is probably the original Oculus Quest. Although it is big and heavy, you don't really notice it if you play for a while. It's also wireless, which is awesome. The reason I chose this over the Quest 2 is because the Quest 1 has a better head strap that is easier to adjust, and also the vision is more clear, so it really feels like you're in another world. The Quest 2 is cool, but it feels more like glasses, and you can see the real world through the bottom of the screen. It prevents motion sickness, but it's still a bit annoying.
It depends on your nose
I still own a Rift (but I play on a quest 3 right now) and it was SO AMAZING. While also owing immeasurable debt to it, I can confirm the controllers were tanks. I threw it twice and hit my walls so many times, with only a few scratches.
thanks for the video! even if its a year old. this helped me decide on what vr headset to get, i prefer to go with the rift cuz its quiet cheap and the one that im buying comes with a gun stock
also yes im new to vr
My favorite oculus headset has to be the quest 1, its a really good headset. Its strap was amazing (well at least better than the quest 2) and had some really good games and was pretty compact. I only don’t like the controllers as its pretty weak though.
My favourite would be the DK2, I feel like that it was an essential step for VR and how it was built off of to create something new and better.
As a quest 1 user from i would guess 2 months after its release, i would say im used to how heavy it is because of how much beat saber i play but i see why people see it as heavy. I probably will get a quest 2 one day but im a little worried abiut the controllers for beat saber, not much but a little
2 years later, I still have a quest 2 and will probably get the quest 3 at the beginning of 2024, but bought a used rift s from a friend who needed some cash. Hooked it up and use it exclusively for my PC flight sim games. I like the fact that I don't have to worry about battery issues when doing some hours long sim VR sessions with friends..... The rift s is a decent headset for how old it is. I really can't tell the difference in resolution compared to the quest 2.
My favorite headset would have to be the quest 2. I love this headset because it gave so many more people the opportunity to enjoy the vr experience. It what got me and so many of my friends into vr, making it affordable and manageable for people without PCs.
Nah bro my neck dies
My favorite is the Oculus Quest 2 because it's a great value for the money, I like the tracking and it's the VR-Headset that got me into VR in the first place.
Rift S is definetly my favourite. Although its unreliable, I still love it. PC VR outdoes standalone every single time. Not just the fact that there are much more games to choose from but its also the fact that there are no boundries what so ever. Mods, trackers, always on (you dont need to charge it), and also can look 10 times better then the quest depending on how good your pc is. All of these things and more is what makes PC VR special and its community is perfect.
Thats what im saying dude. I rather my Rift s than my quest 2
the fov on the rift s isn't as good as the rift s. imo the quest 2 is just a better rift s. it does everything the rift s does and more. it was my first headset and after trying getting my hands on a quest 2 for the first time, i never went back to my rift s.
I just don't understand why, I played with the quest 2 and the rift s and quest 2 is better at everything and it doesn't even need a gaming pc, but with the help of a gaming pc it gets way way better than the rift s

The rift S is just loads better and alot less complicated I mean today I helped a friend set up a quest 2 for pc gaming and it took me 4 hours to do because it was being difficult,
Like it was a pain in the ass and still is, we had to stop because my friend needed to charge the headset and it took nearly all day to charge and by the time we got to do anything it was dead again before we knew it
So its pointless to make a pc vr thay takes so much charge out of it when jt ant Hold the charge to Well, and ur probs gonna say buy the battary extender or something and u get an extra 2 hours on it at beat
Depends on the game but not my point because no matter what u do to upgrade it the rift S just outlasts it so much more

Lower graphics but much much better proformance aswell as easy mod access and easy file locations, even better u can use apps such as discord and store things on ur pc instead of keeping them on both devices so it's more easy to locate things
Truly amazing and revolutionary, thx for teaching me this!!!!
I would put the rift s on S tier just because it has infinite battery life, its nice to have if you have a very good gaming pc. I did have some audio issues but I fixed it, mainly because I had my Razer headset connected with USB. I would say the controller wrist straps aren't that tight and they loosen after a few minutes of playing.
The rift's audio can be obtained on other headsets with a 3d printed mount for koss porta pros
i need to know what head strap to get pls. my head set falls of sometimes when i play gorilla tag
I have a soft spot for the Rift S, I got it on release, and it was my first VR headset.
And yeah, it had problems, no updates, bag of shite robot mic, and HUGE USB bandwidth draw that required me getting a dedicated PCIe USB card to deal with, but it was a lot of fun, and my glasses fit REALLY well into it.
I now have a Quest 2 (for 2 weeks), and I'm selling on my Rift S to a friend that wants to dabble in PCVR, and I have to say, the Quest 2 deserves the S tier.
Airlink works SO WELL (for me), and the speed that it takes to set up and go compared to even the relatively simple Rift S can not be over stated (My playspace is in a different room/floor, so not having to run the cable through the house every time I want to play is GAME CHANGING.)

I’m gonna be honest, my favorite headset is the rift s. I really like it’s design, it’s step in my personal life, and it’s comfort. I really like it’s weight and halo strap compared to the quests, (the only other headset that I own) strap. It’s so comfortable, and it’s weight just adds to that. It was my very first headset that was specifically made for computers that I got, and the design of it is just satisfying. The only thing I don’t like about it is it’s audio. It’s microphone is dog shit, and it’s audio quality isn’t any better. But that’s all I have for it. I’m sad to hear it discontinued.

I Love My Quest 1, and will always. Heck... It's been 2-3 years now... I miss it, ever since I've had problems with it I basically had put it down in favor of my second quest. Now that I'm even getting into PCVR I've been using it here and there but the stick drift is horrid. Never forget the OG.
I enjoy the quest 2 and pcvr gaming through it, but Ive been tempted to get a cheap second hand go just to experience some of the games like tomb raider that were never ported to the quest 2.
I own a quest 2 and I can definitely say it’s my favorite. With its price at just as much as a console, I was actually able to afford one and I never thought I would have been able to experience vr until this headset came out
Even though I never owned it, it'd have to be the DK1. It paved the way for VR as we know it to exist in our modern day and age
Yea the touch controllers would not break on the outside but my controller had some issues, all that happened to my controllers have endured the most that has happened is paint trading
Got my first vr 3 days ago. The oculus meta 2 and love it
The Quest 2 for sure. Affordable, easy to setup, and a great library of games!
Great is an overstatement unless you use a computer alongside it
@@tdoyr2119 no, it is not an overstatement.
@@k1ng_nugget quest 2 game library is quite lackluster and the games it does have are really mediocre. But if you have a vr ready computer, the library is amazing, just like every other headset. However, the quest 2 does have some good titles such as beat saber and blade & sorcery. That being said, many games are lower quality or have less features because of the system requirements.
@@tdoyr2119 yeah but not everybody can afford a high end pc. The Quest 2 is a good choice.
@@tdoyr2119 mostly all headsets require wires and all that junk.
I want to say right now, the Quest 1 is the absolute best price/performance headset available. It can do most of the things the Quest 2 can (and even has a few advantages), and you can get it for $100 on Ebay.
what advantages do the quest have over quest 2? other than not requiring a facebook account
@@john.4987 significantly better blacks (OLED screen), full IPD adjustment range (a must for me), better controllers (personal opinion), better headstrap.
@@Ashley-1917 thats kind of cool, although a little disappointing that the quest 1 has advantages over the quest 2. hopefully the quest 3 will be the best of both worlds
This is definitely a reach. With Quest 1 having very few advantages, Quest 2 is definitely out performs Quest 1 in features and quality, respectively.
@@milt8281 quality? The build quality of the quest 2 is, respectfully, shit lmao
Im not sure if Im having one of those moments but did he mention the valve index?
the first vr headset I ever used was the rift and i tripped on the cable and koed the sensered but the tracking still somehow worked...
I think the best oculus headset so far is the quest 2. It’s just the rift s but also can be wireless.
Us Rift S users really got screwed over 😔
Oh god I can relate to the Rift S stuff, I bought one solely because I didn't know that much about VRheadsets and from what I could see, it was somewhat on the cheaper side "persay", after a little bit of using it though, my friends immediately began to talk about how my mic was staticky, ~it still lives on to this day, as I haven't gotten enough money to buy a better VR headset, will probably just wait till the next/better one is put out before buying another~
shoulda got a quest 2 it has way better pcvr capabilities
@@tempest585 If you have fairly modest hardwares then Rift S is still the better option meanwhile Q2 requires a hefty amount of processing power to look crispy enough, one of the reason being Q2 by default compresses video signal quite noticeably while Rift S offers native signal streaming; but pure PCVR technicalities aside then Q2 indeed is the superior by miles by virtue of being the newer product and the singlemost element of standalone/wireless is already a huge plus. If you invest abit more for some capable accessories then it's not even a question.
dude just use a headset with your rift s then. you probably use headphones already anyways. its literally its only flaw and you can fix it so easily

i love the rift its my first headset i like the tracking its pretty nice and quick.
The quest 2 will always be my fav just for the convenience of it :)

I love my quest 2 and have ever since I got it. Playing quest 2 games anywhere in the world with no wires and being completely free is so freaking fun. The quest 2 is also the best budget pcvr headset out there. I played through the entirety of half life Alyx using the quest 2 with link cable and it was a blast. The quest 2 is really a ground breaking device even though the whole Facebook thing is annoying it’s absolutely worth it
