Can remember seeing the 40s at Crewe works open day 1984. Never visited vic berrys and now seeing 58s being scrapped makes me feel old as I remember them virtually new
The first couple of trains in the video are so nasty they NEED to be scrapped to make room and save the lovely Diesels and characterful slam door trains shown here!
Some of them are only 40 years old and there’s like things that are over 75 years old and there stilll great to use why are younger things hetting scrapped
LNER TRAINS - I shall miss those BR TFL Class 315’s, I used them from new 1980/1 when I lived at Brentwood, although I’m much older than 40, seen them in all sorts of hands, even ridden them to Southend Victoria back in the day. Grim day when they’ve gone.
LNER TRAINS - TfL Rail Only have 10 315 EMU’s in service leased by Evershalt Rail, saw four at ilford deport, one in side by ilford rail bridge, three at Gidea Park, one in service, not sure about the other one. I did see one set of TfL and one set of LO 315’s together at Bethnal Green on the LO line the other day, could not see what was happening, might have been going for scrap.
I miss the peps the most truly remarkable and reliable trains scotrail Merseyrail and great northern should be ashamed of themselves southern still own them though and it looks like those ones will stay around for a while longer
This is a North of London 373 set, they were limited by power availability on the ECML. Couldn't go north of Newcastle, are fairly slow accelerating and have none standard equipment and are generally life expired. Apart from that they are useful

I was referring to the class 313 use in great northern farewell tour as it was being sent too Newport docks and I wanted to put scrap yard instead of scrapyard

The PEP based units could of had the same rebuild like the D Train as they were aluminium bodied and still looked modern

This is so sad, the new trains mean the railways are just losing their atmosphere, for me the only vaguely interesting recent loco is the class 68.

The TFL rail/Elizabeth line trains should be sent back to greater anglia instead of this. How come 40 year old pacers live but 20 year old 332s dont
yes pacer lived longer and 332 had a short time
