  • The early part of 2013 saw DRS clear out a huge load of their old redundant Class 20,37 & 47 locos for scrap, most of not all ended up in booths of Rotherham. A walk round the yard (which was organised!) to take a look at the yard, including wagons going for scrap and London Underground stock.
    Enjoy!

Also depressing, as these old Diesels hold great memories of my dad. He was a driver. Many cab rides in 37s, 47,,, also many 08 24 and 25s. Thanks Dad.
    Thanks for sharing Howard. 👍😎

always found these videos very interesting, seeing all the old stuff lined up before scrap, its always nice to look in and see whats there. sure its sad in some aspect but these locos (for the most part) have reached their end of life anyway and they'd have to be scrapped eventually

To buy a train that's going to scrapped would be expensive but not as expensive so if you wanted to buy one of the 37s in this video I would reckon around £400K-600K depending on the shape its in it could ultimately reduce to about £125K.

37's were needed on cambrian coast maintenance because of weight limited bridges.
the 66's they got had bad traction motors so had less traction effort than 56's 58's & 60's
