  • Hi, and thanks for watching this video.
After checking with my builder that it was ok to drill into one side of the wood.... I dived in. This is a 73-year-old brick-built staircase. I talk about different ways of fitting if you cannot cut into the side as easily as I did in the video.

That's great idea! Ive been wanting to do something similar. This is the first time I've seen an application like this, a lot of people are using the led strips. I like this clean look.

I done mine exactly the same a couple of years ago. Get yourself a smart plug and a couple of motion sensors (one at the top of the stairs and one on bottom) if you've got an amazon echo, can set lights to come on for say 4 mins then go off.
    Well done, looks great 👍

This is exactly how my stair case is and I've been boggling how to do this, I'm so glad I've seen you do every other step because I was about to do all of them 😂 this looks amazing I'll be going in confident now ty❤❤❤

Wow I love it and to see a female DIYer take on a task like this is amazing. Well done, I am hugely impressed. As a female DIYer myself, this feels me with confidence. Thank you.

Well done, finished product looked very well done and you learned some improvements for next time.
    Fantastic job.

Wow, you've done a fantastic job there! 😊🙏🏻
I take after my Dad when it comes to being practical and really enjoy DIY projects. I'll be getting my 11 year old son to help with this project as his dad is a bit clueless 🙄😄
I'm a bit old fashioned and feel men should be able to do all this stuff so I'm teaching my lad bless him ( don't mean to come across as sexist ro any guysreading this! But real men should have rough hands in my view, rather than shaved muscly chests and moisturised hands! 😄)
Great and clear instructions, thank you for uploading this!

Great video. Will definitely be doing this on my stairs. A few things i think would make the job even better and easier 1) use a palm router to carve the channel for the cable as this is sooop much easier although the palm router may cost abit more
    2) connect a motion and daylight sensor so that the lights come on automatically when sensing motion at darker times.
But again great job! You made it look so easy.

I think I would also have made a small cut up and run the cable over the top of the skirting ( then hide with some trim) But they do look good 👍

I don't mean to sound like an internet critic! I'm very sorry. In hindsight it's always easy to say "oh well this could have been done differently" I didn't mean to put down your work. The way it ended up is fantastic and you should be proud. It'd cost an arm and a leg to get any contractor to do this type of job. Most wouldn't even do it I'd imagine. We have loads of jobs like this and I'll be definitely doing it with more confidence thanks to your video! (Plus watching all your other content, you explain things so well).

A small cut & covering trim would have made your life easier, as you say.
You could attach a (triangular) sanding head on your multitool - again making your life easier.
Well done though, you've inspired me to do the same job! @@kirstygriffiths749

Hi, I'm halfway through renovating our hall and we have used your videos for inspiration. Even ordered the same mouldings and dado. Now just ordered the lights. Ripping carpet up today. I noticed the trim you used and we wanted to do the same . I can't see that you have linked the trim. Do you remember where you got it? And by the way thanks so much your videos have helped massively 😊

I would have went up with the notch then just simply added a molding on the top to cover the wire.

You could get a movement sensor so the light in the hallway and stairs turn on and off automatically
