About 20 years ago, when my derm diagnosed rosacea, he recommended the avene thermal water. He said he could not tell me why it worked for minimizing flares, but that his patients found it helpful. He also encouraged me to dump all the dermalogica skincare I was using. Anyway, years later and with a much improved skin barrier, it is the thermal water and heavy duty moisturizer more than any medication that keeps my skin at ease.

@@Yoyo90s Hey, right now I use Avene A Oxitive Nuit. I have no irritation with it. And I have rosecea. The A Oxitive eye creme also worked for me. But I believe with any Retinol product you should still use a moisturizer. As far as I know all Retinol products are drying. I use cerave pm moisturizer before the A Oxitive products. You can also do the sandwich method to be extra safe: moisturizer --> Retinol ---> moisturizer. But the physiolift line also has fragrance in it... Maybe that's also a factor for irritation.

I use tretinoin around the eyes. It takes a while to get to a point where it doesn't dry out your undereyes, but it's totally doable if you're persistent. same with the lips. I treat my entire face now and I'm loving the results. As long as you keep in mind that any peeling, dryness and irritation is only temporary as your skin adjust to the tret, you really can just soldier through it. it definitely gets better and a few months later, you won't even feel it at all. I'm so glad I didn't give up because all the irritation is completely gone now.

Thanks to Dr Dray's video on retinoids I discovered the retrinal intensive cream (in Europe/Italy it is called Avène a-oxidative peeling cream) and the wrinkle corrector (in Italy physiolift night cream), the first one is my holy grail, the second is good but a little too rich for me, I'm waiting winter season to use it. Retinaldehyde completely changed my skin, no more pimples, buidup or flakes or blackheads but luminous, smooth skin with less fine lines. I'm 35 btw, mediterranean complexion, combo skin. I use retinal by night and I massage it very well into my skin, then I put on my moisturiser after 15 minutes. I use it even around my eyes and neck without problems. During the day, I put on hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, then I moisturise. If I'm going outside I put on sunscreen but given the pandemic I'm working more from home, so I have all the time in the world to put on silicone patches to prevent water loss from my most problematic areas such as the nasolabial folds and my eye bags, they really improve my first wrinkles and work wonders. Again, thank you Dr Dray for all your advice, I basically shaped my skin care routine on your videos, the only exception is vitamin c serums, I know you don't believe in them but I really enjoy the shiness they give to my skin... Greetings from Italy!

Don't use other retinoids because they are too harsh on the neck, it's a more delicate area than the face but you can definitely build up your tolerance. If you experience redness or the area becomes too sensitive, just separe the applications by using it every 2-3 times a week.

And even though I haven’t had much of an occasion to wear bold lip colors in the last year, it helps as a great pre-moisturizer before applying lip color (especially if I’m feeling bold enough to use a matte formula, lol.)
