Wow! Thank you! We are having this problem, and my hubby always yells at the dog "stop following her!" Because she follows me everywhere! I have been training her but now that i UNDERSTAND why she does it, i am prepared to take it to the mext level! 😊
One of the best ways to start this, is to actually set up your dog in a seperate room entirely than you guys.. is your dog crate trained? How Old is she? How long have u had her for? How does she do when you’re not home? Etc ?
@@user-sf8yt7xz1n she is crate trained, she is almost 4 years old, but I have only had her since March, I inherited her, so I have known her since 6 months old. She is getting better at being home alone and she definitely listens to my commands for the most part!
This is what I call setting up “ Healthy Boundaries” with your dog ! Practicing your dog spending time alone in the house in a different room than you, so to help them learn to, cope with beeing alone, which in turn, helps them with their confidence levels as well as with regulating their emotions! Dogs, like humans, have a nervous system, so they also need to learn to regulate themselves, the very same way that we do

Unfortunately, too many people don't practise this nor do they believe in things like crate training - they allow their dogs to go everywhere and anywhere with them with no boundaries and that's where I believe separation anxiety starts.
Practice “inviting rather than invading”. So true !!! I virtually ignore my dog (don’t judge me) and usually only invite him to me whereas my friend is always in reaction to him when she comes to stay (which is often). Allows him to push his head against her then shoves her and she is constantly stroking him. Drives me mad to watch. Ruins my good work.

Yep.. and when you leave the house, don't say anything to the dog. Just walk out. I think I learned that from one of your TV episodes..
