    Recently, I started learn Russian and your videos are so helpful.
    154 Сто пятьдесят четыре.
    579 Пятьсот семьдесят девять.
    473 Четыреста семьдесят три.
    901 Девятьсот один.
    1845 тысяча восемьсот сорок пять.
    I spend over 10 minutes to finish this. I'm not used to type Cyrillic alphabets.

    This is even more important than I thought because you dont say 1812 in Russian as in English 18 12 but as one thousand eight hundred and twelve, so even to give historical dates/ the year of your birth you need to know numbers up to a thousand (also roubles are mostly in thousands!). These explanations are good. By the way, you spelt nine hundred wrong at the end.

  • @spooks77
    @spooks77 Před 3 lety +1

    To new viewers who didnt read the correction comment far down: 8.17, the 900 part in the 1958 word is spelled wrong in the printout, it is spelled the same way as 900 in its own, he answered it further down but it will be confusing and misleading if u think its written like that but pronounced the same suddenly out of the blue in that context:)

    Hi Fedor. For the practice, I am struggling with 901. The video didn't go over 0, so do you just leave the 0 out of the spelling? Like in english we don't say nine hundred zero one...would it be: девятьсот один? Please let me know if that is right.
    I also noticed in your video that for the number 1958 you spelled 900 as девятот but when 900 is by itself (when you went over 100, 200, 300...) 900 was spelled девятьсот. so in the larger number (1958), does the 900 change?
    Here is what I came up with for the number practice you had:
    154 - сто пятдесят четыре
    579 - пятьсот семьдесят девять
    473 - четыреста семьдесят три
    901 - девятьсот один
    1845 - тысяча восемьсот сорок пять
    спасибо!

    Is it acceptable in Russian to divide a four-digit number into two two-digit numbers, as often heard in English? For example, ask any Briton or American the year Woodstock happened and they'll say "nineteen sixty-nine", not the roundabout "one thousand nine hundred sixty-nine". Would the equivalent "девятнадцать шестьдесять девять" be acceptable versus "тысяча девятьсот шестьдесять девять"?

    • @user-qh4qn5de6x
      @user-qh4qn5de6x Před 3 lety +1

      No. In Russian we don't divide years into two pairs. So the 1969 (if we talk about the year) will be "тысяча девятьсот шестьдесять девятый год" or "тысяча девятьсот шестьдесять девятый" (if we know that we're talking about the year). We can also say simply "шестьдесять девятый год" when we know the century which we're talking about.
