@@Lordin_ That 13th - 15th range is honestly the reality. It's been 5+ years. For every other fighting game on the planet, for a character to get that undeniable Top Tier label this many years into a game's life, you need to consistently bring out results. And unfortunately, the Pika mains lack that consistency at the moment.
All that needs to happen is 1 or 2 Pika mains need to show up and genuinely humble people and show consistent results for an extended period of time. That will get the world to believe again.

Snake is probably so high mainly because his results have been so strong. He winds up having a lot of representation at big events in top 32s, often in the top 3 representation after Steve and ROB. I'd personally put ROB above Snake and shift Aegis down.
The more confusing thing is absolutely that he's above ROB of all characters, I don't disagree with Snake being in top 5 (with current meta) personally.
I don't get how lots of reps in top 32 translates to top 4
@@rizvan1632bc snake also has multiple top reps that consistently do well. Apollokage, Hurt, and Dio come to mind, but there's also Alandiss, Grape, MVD, Chronos. All of whom have taken sets off of top players, including Acola and Miya.
Granted, I think Snake should be a little lower, but he has, throughout Ultimate's lifespan, been a staple in the top tier meta.
@@rizvan1632 If a character has a bunch of reps placing well at majors over a long period of time, then people are going to start believing that the character is strong. Part of this is because you would think that if there's a bunch of good Snake players at majors, then people would be getting plenty of practice against the character, but despite all of the practice people are getting against Snake, the character still places well.
How I see this tier list is essentially a snapshot of the current metagame. A couple months down the line when the next one is made it will be different, because the meta is different.
That's what a tierlist should always be. Attempting to theorycraft a tierlist is pointless precisely because we cannot know how the meta (even for specific chars) will develop in a game this complex.
man just imagine showing this tier list to someone back in the early days of Ultimate when Ike was considered excellent and people thought Ganondorf was approaching viable
I don't think anyone thought Ike was excellent, we just knew Leo was too good. The real mind fuck was that everyone though belmonts would be top 5.
So Flow france Roy main is a Toon Link Co-main. I think that's the reason why they think highly of TINK!!!

That’s what this game has come to, everyone thinks you need fast, long, flashy combos to be viable. This stuff is why people just can’t learn to appreciate the Horsemen’s slower pace of play.
@@ValentinesdayghostNo. Sonix has plenty of long and creative combo strings, and people still don't like watching him a lot of the time. People don't like Miya, sonix and acola's gameplay cause their characters play really degenerate in some manner.
@@user-el1nv9hd1l Yeah, but they don’t play like that lmao. And if they did, they stopped doing it a long time ago. I’ve seen Sonix camp and time out less and less as time goes on, I wouldn’t be surprised if he suddenly just started going full aggro against everybody.
@@Valentinesdayghost He has definitely gotten more aggro, but at the end of the day it's still a ton of spindashing and spincharging and no real disadvantage state. It doesn't bother me too much personally, but I definitely get why people aren't about it
@@user-el1nv9hd1l Yeah, that’s another reason why I think Sonic is the best and not Steve. Sonic doesn’t really have any solid weaknesses you can pin down and exploit, which makes his disadvantage state almost nonexistent.

Japan HEAVILY favors results because they have the mindset of "what good are your theories if that's not what's happening in reality?". The Pika mains need to show up and genuinely humble them. Stop talking about how you win X matchups on paper and start bodying people.

People have finally started to accept the fact that some of these "potential" characters aren't what they thought they were such as Shulk, Link, and Sephiroth. But they're still on the copium for characters like Pikachu.
What I don't understand about this mentality is that we have characters that genuinely prove the theories right such as Steve and Sora.

I normally hear out ESAM on his takes but saying snake has a bad disadvantage is crazy to me. Frame one combo escape, never has to go to ledge, and has a ton of b-reverse shenanigans when landing. I do agree he shouldn't be that high on the list though
Watch Sonix or Marss against a top Snake. Snake looks like a mid tier with the worst disadvantage in the game.

If he meant compared to the other S tier characters I'll concede that they all have pretty broken disadvantage. I more just meant in a vacuum compared to the majority of the cast

Snake is the character with highest main reps in top 100, like top 3-5 character in overall results throughout 2023, maybe the char hasnt win a major lately, but how about pika? Other than Shinymark who doesnt travel that much hasnt gotten any results, but you still consider him top 2

Relax having your character placed lower on the tier list just makes it so they respect your skill. Pika has been mad overrrated FOREVER because of these pika busted memes. So much that as a pika main people discredit your skill and hard work all the time.

"bad disadvantage" frame 1 combobreaker which can shift his momentum making it so hard to juggle him for too many characters and making it so he can freely go high when offstage, it's his only "drawback" btw because he litteraly has everything, broken burst range, anti-air, cqc tools, disjointed stuff, projectiles, can cover everything
none of his tilts are safe on shield unless dtilt is max spaced. frame 1 combo breaker(where you still trade damage) in a game where the top tiers have insane damage output isn't really great. going high to get offstage only resets the situation, he still has to land eventually.
