That shout is a child crying through a man.
A vocal coach reacted to a song of Jeff’s, and said something really on point; Jeff wasn’t afraid to sound ugly. He didn’t need to sound polished, because sometimes the music called for something a little more primal.
I remember the first time I showed my mum Jeff Buckley. It was a live CD and she said he sounded awful (I was heartbroken!). But when she listened to his studio album (Grace), she loved it, and he sort of clicked into place for her after that. Sounding ugly was sometimes the point, but it probably wasn’t a good place to start!
Great reaction guys, keep Jeff Buckley coming!
Yess. That contrasts from that ugly and daring juxtaposed by the extreme beauty he could produce was almost paranormal. Very magical 🪄 ✨ it sounds to me that Jeff could make his voice beautiful all the time if he wanted. But then that would be very one dimensional and we would soon lose interest.
As Chris Cornell said, Jeff could seeing the most beautiful notes you’ve ever heard, but if he wanted to, Jeff could put in an edge that was just enough to make you feel uncomfortable. He was like a transcended person on stage
My favourite Jeff Buckley song. The emotion is seismic.
Like a freight train blowing through your soul ❤️ 🎵 🎶
OMG. This leaves a grown man crying. A soul gone too soon.
underappreciated guitarist
HOLY SHIT FINALLY!!!!!!! I have been trying to get people to listen to this for a million years! Thank you Curt G!
So Jeff's dad was the famous folk singer Tim Buckley and was pretty much completely absent from his life. If I remember correctly he only met him twice, which makes this song hurt so much more
Jeff met Tim once, when he was 8. Jeff stayed with him for a week, then went back home. Tim died two months later.
@@MojoPin1983 And wasn’t invited to the funeral. No wonder he hated all the comparisons.
Jeff wrote this song because one of his friends got his girlfriend pregnant and was planning on abandoning her and their future child, which is what Jeff’s dad did to him and his mother.
Or maybe it was Dream Brother. I’m too tired to remember.
@@daddynitro199 It was Dream Brother :)
When I first heard Jeff his voice almost unnerved me sort of the way Jimmy Hendrix plays guitar.
Thank you Curt G for recommending these Jeff Buckley videos.
I love this man❤❤ Thanks for all, Jeff❤
This is one of my absolute favorite performances/songs by Jeff. Thank you for reacting and spreading the good word on his music. Amazing track.
GUYS!! pls do more Jeff Buckley!!! "Last Goodbye" should be next!!! thanks again!!
Youre both amazing in the reactions and Jeff... beautiful soul. Cheers from Brasil!
Guys this is a very personal song for Jeff. Have a read into his life story and relationship with his biological dad, Tim Buckley. Also a well known folk singer with a beautiful voice. His dad also tragically died very young
Great song! Jeff was actually only a co-writer on this but boy what a home run!
Thankyou so much for reacting to this amazing song/performance
I bumped into the man that used to own my house back in the 00s I had earphones on and he asked me what are you listening to I said sketches from my sweet heart the drunk by Jeff Buckley. He goes on to tell me he Knew him they met up in Cork and Jeff stayed over in my house in Carlow a few times. He went to New York to catch up with Jeff and Jeff went off with his girlfriend was an odd conversation
Wow
This song has huge connections about his father; what would you say… father… when I take your place..!
Love you guys!! Reacting to Jeff Buckley.
So real by Jeff Buckley is amazing you should react to that tune!!:)
one of my favorite songs of all time. u guys are adorable btw
My favourite Jeff song .
Back again. Because nobody has done this song since. Please force this song on everyone.
Jeff didn’t write this song. He contributed the bridge chords and progression, but the majority of the song was written by Chris Dowd of Fishbone and Carla Azar.
Yep. But you can absolutely see him embodying the lyrics.
Jeff Buckley "Hallelujah"
Yesssss!!! 👏👏👏👏
❤
That’s a fucking walll of music
Though it reads very dramatic, the song was NOT written by Jeff, nor was it about Tim Buckley. It is a terrific song nevertheless.
It was mostly written by Chris Dowd apparently, but Jeff helped him to write it. If you watch the live version from Frankfurt Germany he says it in the introduction. And even if not instrumental in writing it, he chose to perform the song. So it obviously had some resonance to him.
Pls make reaction Pentagram a.k.a Mezarkabul . Heavy metal band from Istanbul, Turkey
