- First of all, I can't stress enough how busy I've been over the last few months and I apologize for not being able to upload videos. I'm doing my best to stick to a weekly schedule but it is quite difficult in the current situation. I'm already working on a new funny moments video and strive to upload it within a week. Thank you for your patience.
Now as for the video itself, today, we're talking about the little rotating flick that I do from time to time while dribbling. Many of you asked me to make a tutorial on it and what I exactly do, so here it is. If you have any questions regarding this, please join my Discord and I'll gladly answer them. Keep in mind that I'm not attempting to name this move as an "inventor" of it or anything like that. I'm sure many people have done this before me and keep doing them better than I ever could. I'm purely doing this due to several requests on my montages that wanted this. I'm calling it the Tornado Flick, as it's simple and that's basically what it is. If you or your favourite pro player calls it something else, so be it!

To clear things up regarding the comments that suggest I stole this off of a guy called 'talon'.
First of all, nobody stole off anybody and neither me nor talon invented this.
Furthermore, in his video he states that he found the trick "this morning" referring to the 23rd of December. Now if you watch my video from August called "Fake Airdribble Shot" and skip to the middle, I clearly explain the very same trick there - yes, 7 months ago. My only issue with this whole situation is that the person who seemingly discovered this a month ago *named* the move after himself and made many people believe he was the first one to do so. Again, I can't stress this enough, I did *not* invent this trick either! This is one of those things that has been done by so many different people years ago but nobody ever spoke about it. This tutorial is just there to show how I do the trick, as it's been requested by many subscribers.
Hope you understand. There are no hard feelings, my only issue is the fact that someone selfishly claimed the move to himself.

Why are people flooding this video accusing Mertzy of "stealing" the idea and failing to credit Talon? The almost exact opposite is going on. konrad cho I didn‘t watch the video because I already know how to do this but what helped me alot was simply starting to rotate your car 180 degrees before shots and then flick.
It‘s a very easy thing to do the only hard thing about is to remember that you have pull your analog stick in the exact opposite direction while flicking.
Then you can add the little airdribble at the beginning

My Air Roll Left is binded to R1 for some odd reason. But hey. This shot’s more useful than it sounds but never tried it as a 90/180, degree shot, only 270. Nice one mert :)
After watching this video in it's entirety this move that you call a tornado flick just seems more like a 180 power shot.
I already do power shots quite a bit in game, especially if the opposing team is over extending or over committing and
I have an opportunity to blast the ball down to their end either setting up my team mate for a wide open goal, or setting
myself up for a follow up down field. The only difference between doing a regular power shot and this move is just the
180 that you're describing. However.. I will say it's much harder for the defender to know exactly what my plan is when
I add a 180 to it. So thank you for that! Definitely going to start using this move in game! Back when I was Gold I could
easily rely on basic power shots to score, but now that I'm in Champ it almost NEVER works anymore. This should help

Wow I have been having a hard time sticking to the ball when I'm trying to flick. "hold jump to stick to the ball". I feel dumb but I think u just solved my problem. Thank you

Good option if you want to do such shots (I'm not that good :P). But it's the people on pc who are able to do their flick whenever they want even though they came from a ground jump. I think we should be able to do that too and that Psyonix needs to add that if they can. (for some reason I couldn't reply on my own comment).
No, people on pc are not able to do their flick whenever they want, that's bullshit. It's the exact same as on console.

when i first learned to tornado spin properly i used to do a mechanic like this but didnt know what it was called. i guessed it would be called the tornado flick

Prett positive a tornado flick is where you get under the ball and do a 360 with your car flat and flick it into the goal
This is good for smurfing, but it's daily blockable at c2+ if you don't have a lot of space.
When i didn't know much about Rocket league (i had never played a single online match) I was grinding on how to do a new flick, and I "discovered" the tornado flick and I called it "the flip reset flick" because it looked like a flip reset.
When I watched this video I got really confused.

Holy fuck. I've been doing this for weeks and I came up with my own name. Now people are gonna think I stole it.😭 I've only watched the first minute so far but if he didn't mention it, the shot is really good for getting hard angles like ones in the corner of the map next to the boost. It's also more powerful than a frontflip or sideflip while in the air

u can tornado spin easily on KB+M. Just hold Q+A or D+E + boost. HF

I've seen you do some kind of move. From dribbling the ball over your head, you jump with it, do a 180 under the ball then backflip into it to shot. My biggest problem is that upon backfliping the ball is too high above me. If you know what I'm talking about, do you have a name for it?
