My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard through this entire video! I want to be Mamuka’s best friend-what a precious soul.
Read this as I hit play and thought you were exaggerating but can confirm experiencing similar results
I concur. What an absolute joy to see.
When I cycled from Copenhagen to Tbilisi, 18 years ago, I also met a very hospitable guy called Mamuka, who got me very drunk. Not the same Mamuka as you met though 🙂
Such a nice old dude. His hospitality is an example of how most locals you meet when travelling are so welcoming. Our views and expectations of strangers is automatically so negative due to the crazy nature of politics and society these days.
Something deep inside my soul longed to live somewhere so remote, away from electricity and Internet. Thankfully it was a fleeting moment and I still have 48 other youtube tabs open.
How blessed is he!!!! Own house, all that space, peace and quiet while we are stuffed in these concrete jungles all on top of each other. I need a change🤪
What lovely people.
SHALOM 🔥
Chacha is actually pretty much identical to Italian grappa. People describe it as home-made whiskey or vodka or as you say, brandy, but grappa is the closest. Basically you use what's left over from the grapes after you make wine from them first.
Brilliant video. I really miss Georgia. Amazing hospitality, people, food, scenery.
Hi Ed,
oh how nice I would have probably fallen off my chair with the alcohol consumption.
Mamuka admires how simply he lives and how fit he is at his age.
Beautiful video. Greetings Dagmar😅🥰
What a great hospitality. The people that have nothing give everything. Sharing. How great.
Humble people are always the greatest hosts.
this episode was so charming
Oh my! What a sweet old man! I'm sure he was grateful for your company! You guys definitely made his day !
The quality of these videos are top notch, better than many cable TV channels. Very down to earth and real. No artificial dramas, just plain real life and an extraordinary journey.
What a character the auld boy was. 👍
Looks like Mamuka found the fountain of youth!
georgian wine is some of the best in the world!!!!! lots of natural winemakers here in australia are influenced by it and take trips over there. you are so lucky!
You can tell he's happy to have the company
Classic Ed Pratt stuff. In those years making unicycle videos he got really good at these travel videos. Excellent!
Very well edited. 20 minutes went by like it was just 5.
People like that mountain farmer make you feel warm and cosy inside. When you meet people like him, you have to wonder, what has happened to the western life style, the unfriendliness everywhere.
I feel as though my life has been wasted when seeing how others live a much simpler life.
Are you a Trump supporter per chance?
@@brinjoness3386 YES 100%, as you are. Welcome to the great man's, The Donald Trump supporters collective society.
What an amazing episode. Thanks for sharing Georgia with us. Mamuka was such a joy to experience.
Wonderful episode! A bicycle touring video that contains almost no bicycle riding but these people we meet and these experiences we have stay with us long after the memory of the miles fadeaway. Thank you for sharing this!
Some of the best folks and most cherished relationships arise from chance meetings like this. Loved it!
Can't stop smiling! Such a wholesome old man. Ed, you are so good at storytelling! I want to attend a masterclass where you show the breakdown how you create your documentary... It is done in such a professional level yet it is just a two-man&woman-team. Great job! I am slowly enjoying the suspense by following your YT channel since Vimeo purchase cost a restaurant dinner for four in my country. But I assure you I never skipped any of the ads!
Manuka and nuttella...?
Both awesome on toast
A different world. What a kind and generous man sharing his home and food with complete strangers. What a fantastic video. ❤️
How humbling. Imagine a Georgian turning up at a farm in Ilchester and the reception that they might receive. We are so off track sometimes in the West.
This is by far some of the best content on youtube, I hope you never stop making these videos mate.
what a great stop that was
What a legend Mamuka is. :)
This is very nice to watch, also because of the gorgeous scenery you both captured. Mamuka is a functioning alcoholic I guess, with his heart on the right spot. May he still live many years in his clean mountains, with no disturbances and only good visitors.
If I could be half as fit as that guy, when I'm 81 (will I even get there?!) I'd be happy. He's already fitter than I am, and he's got 30 years on me. He lives a hard life, but it seems to be good for his health. The simplicity has some appeal, but the winter and spring hardship must take some getting used to.
We need a go fund me page for mamuka!
Loveo this episode, mate! I love the format of it. One episode focusing on the experiences in one place. It reminds me of the episode of Michael Palin's Around the World in 80 Days, where he spent a week on a dhow - that's all that episode was about. Same kind of experience, also. Meeting people who had instantly become friends. Absolutely super!
You don't get experiences like this from a travel brochure.
Memorable Mamuka !
First flushes the shit into the river, then goes to find “naturally carbonated” water
🤣😂🤣
BROGHT TEARS TO MY EAYS - AMAZING EPISODE
Loads of love from India to you both and mamuka!! Stay healthy, keep riding and spreading love ❤
Beautiful video. I need that Water, what a character.
What amazes me is how friendly and open the local people are. Looking at all the news, your videos give me hope of humanity. Many kindness are not reported in news.
Cycling on a tandem through Georgia, picking a house at random and bumping into Mamuka, very lucky;-)
What a beautiful episode!
It seems like people with the least are often the most generous with what little they have. Many of us (myself included) could learn a lot from Mamuka.
Brilliant film and very inspiring.
Nice to see a new video from you Ed. Hope you're keeping well! ✌
Priceless experience
That was a really great episode! What a wonderful old man!
What a great people you two are! Another very wholesome video
Wow 😲 he is 81 I really thought he must be in his mind to late 60s
Brilliant series! You are a great story teller and film maker. Keep it up.
Great episode. I love how slower paced cycle touring rewards with these precious experiences
Your videos are just awesome. I think more and more often to do at least a small trip. Probably in Georgia also :) Your AD of it is really nice :)
P.S. I wonder if you hear something from Will Hodson (super cycling man). We are looking now through your would round trip and I think Will is a really nice person. But when I try to find something - all his last posts end in about 2019..
Awesome video. Greetings from Zurich 🇨🇭
Wonderful film.
Looks amazing! What sleeping bags do you use? It looks like it might be a double sleeping bag 😃
beautiful cinematography
These are the experiences that make a trip like this!
Awesome stuff, guys!
He can hear the flies, hahaha. “Gaumarjos”
Love this video. It's like an event...or adventure with ya'll.
Crazy how slept on Ed Pratt is
Thanks for another great vudeo
Really enjoying your videos, just found the channel and immediately subscribed 👍
Loved that!
salt of the earth, and healthy at 81! are we all doing this wrong?, thanks guys
Great content Ed!
Excellent content. There are a lot of different naturally carbonated waters in the region, I think (you mentioned it), that Borjomi is probably the most well known brand. I love Georgian red wines. I don't think that I'd want to leave that place, idyllic if you're prepared for the simpler things in life.
Hope it was upstream of the loo outfall!
What a great video
What a gem
great stuff ed!
Beautiful episode :)
Probably Had some kind of a European/Middle eastern type mead or cider is my guess and if the yeasts are not capped off by keeping sugars, fruits, or honey stocked, they can keep getting stronger.
There's still so much wilderness in the world. It's easy to assume that everyone has internet, electronics and mains supplies, but people like Mamuka have chosen to live a nearly self sufficient life with a type of lifestyle that has been unchanged for centuries.
brillant guys!
Loving the series 😎🥔 🍇
brilliant
good one
Прекрасната Грузия с прекрасните ѝ хора.
It's heart breaking this was your last trip together.
mannn that was a great video
great adventure !!
So nice great people
This is great
Thanks!
Amazing Chengqi!
How good is Mamuka.
Wicked amazing
Lindo vídeo.
If you're ever back in China, come by and say "Hi!". I'm in Shandong Province, in a city called Yantai!
All The Best!
Let me be somebody's mamuka, an old friend.
Not going to lie I’d find it very hard to leave that wonderful old man ;-;
What kind of msr tent you have?
From the description of every vid:
Tent (US): amzn.to/3kpzOPW
Tent (UK): amzn.to/3hQKXY7
Pretty amazing : )
the people with nothing will share all they have
👍👍👍
Неожиданно было услышать русскую речь) Откуда вы знаете русский?
Aishola is from Kyrgyzstan and they lived together in Bishkek for a while.
That's how I like to experience foreign places too, going anywhere and seeing the regular, original life that happens. I have absolutely no interest in tourist spots, everything is so artificial there. Made for being appealing to tourists, but it's nothing about how that country is originally working.
except it's no longer a secret... :(
