- I like albert chang music. Ending Season 8 on this to me is pretty fitting. The hardest part of makiing this video was 100%ing 3D land. The actual video I made the same day lol. Season 8 is done and I will never 100% 3D land ever again. As always, enjoy! :)

Where did you get the idea 3D Land saved 3DS? Animal Crossing New Leaf and Pokemon XY did. It was doing HORRIBLE numbers before that they even had to slash the prices.
@@ZackFair89 3d land came after the price slash. The price was lowered in august and it came out in november. Iirc, new leaf and pokemon XY came out 1 year after 3d land and mario kart 7
i wouldn't say land saved the 3ds, but acnl and xy came out years after the 3ds did. til 2012 land was basically the only game that justified the 3ds existence in the first year. you expected a kart, and the other big nintendo releases were ports. Holiday seasons are important and all but i think what saved the 3ds was genuinely the Wii U being not a good option for most
still don't think this one game single-handedly saved it though. no hate on the video, just that save is a bit of a stretch.

I love 3d land so much more than 3d world,
3D Land felt like they nailed what they were going for, a 2D style 3D game with design sensibilities perfect for a handheld.
While 3D world feels like they took that handheld game and shoehorned 4 players and home console sensibilities plus I feel like most levels overstay there welcome because of that
Yeah I see where you're coming from. I personally prefer 3D World but yeah 3D Land nailed what they were going for. My main complaint is the fact that it's really a slog when going for 100%.
3D Land was a hit because it looked how revolutionary at the time for gamers. 3D World couldn’t because it replicate the NSMB games that was already oversaturated, which it wasn’t what the consumers need at the time.
@@therealjaystone2344 that is straight up false. If anything 3D land replicated the nsmb games more than 3D world. 3D world has much unique stuff while the only uniwue thing 3D land can claim was merging 2D and 3D Mario.

It’s a shame 3D world over shadows this game not everyone talks about 3D land then 3D world was a game that was better then 3d land in every aspect of the game I remember getting 3d land from Christmas of 2011

The WiiU did most of the damage. It was already a fail (even if it’s a great console, I own one trust me) it held back the games. 3D world, Mario kart 8 and literal breath of the wild were made for it. I could name more games, pikmin 3. You’re welcome.
@@widojay2048 Yeah. There was also mario maker 1, splatoon, yoshi's wooly world and so on. Its really sad since I also think the wii u was great. Happily most of the really good stuff either got sequels or ports on switch. (i literally oredered a modded one off the internet im just waiting for it to ship. I was going to post the video after it shipped but its taking forever)

sorry but i cant agree. i own both 3d land and 3d world (officially which i doubt you do) and while 3d land is my favorite 3ds game. did it save the console?, hell no
ive also 100%ed 3d land, and back on the wii u, me and my friend started a 3dw save file and ended up beating champions road. i have some great memories of champions road
@@ujkloin I own 3D world on switch. I bought it all the way back in 2021. 3D land no, but I do want to find a physical of it like how I did with Tomodachi Life. 3D land is nowhere close to my favortie 3DS game. Tomodachi Life and 3DS Miitopia exist sooo 🙃
@@ujkloin related to the reply, I did everything except for champion's road in back in 2021 and enjoyed it a lot. I know literally nobody in real life who likes nintendo games so I did it all on my own. If the video made it seem like I hate 3D land, I don't. I just really hate going for 100% and think 3D world is just better in every way.
agree, 3D Land is the best 3DS game which tells you how ghe 3DS while habing a ron of consistently well made games had pretty much 0 bangers in hindsight. Resident Evil Revelations and Kingdom Hearts were good too but nothing came close to the highs of Killzone Mercenary on the Vita (even thoughh the Vita had waaaay less good games)
Well this is true but not only 3D land was a mix between NSMB and 3d mario I think they want galaxy on a handheld but it just ended up being the way the it was saving galaxy 2 to be on a Wii so some elements of galaxy like the comet metal from galaxy 2 represent the star coins from new super Mario bros. 3d land taken advantage of the 3ds gimmick around new console and it’s gimmicky 3D mode and gyro sensor. The only thing I think 3d land was bad to play alone I feel like 3d world big levels felt like a game made for 4 players then just one player made to feel so boring. I don’t even want to start with champion Road which is basically like grand master galaxy from galaxy 2 which is very hard level to beat just for 100% a game feel rewarding in that game but don’t really feel that rewarding in 3D land and world where it’s a pain to beat.
@@mk8-mkwil117 Sure. 3D land is extremely derivative. Now that you point them out, yes, it also has a lot of similarities to mario galaxy 2, but the general style of the levels is very nsmb themed. If anything 3d land is a mix between galaxy and the nsmb games. 3d world on the other hand distances itself a lot more with all of the new stuff in it. Stuff like plessie, bowser in a car, captain toad, the new bosses, the entire circus aesthetic, all of that. And yes champions road is insane and feels very rewarding when you pull it off.
