Loved the church. 😊😊. Remember my old visits to France, everyone was asleep while we looked/ walked around. So quiet then. My school girl french got me by, not now though unless I brushed up. 😢😢😢.
Nooooo! You can’t leave us hanging until next Friday! 😅great log as always, thank you. Looking forward to seeing if you were pipped at the pump next time 😀
we were in France at this same time, heading back to calaise, it got to the point we visited so many fuel stations we were using all of our diesel driving around, we headed to a campsite we always tend to stop at on our way home and the lady owner was good enough to phone around fuel stations explaining the situation to them, she eventually found somewhere for us and the manager said he would reserve a space for us and look out for when we arrived - phew got us home, but wish in one way we were still there - France takes some beating for vanlife/motorhomes, it has it all, mountains/lakes,beaches/great food and really nice people - if you respect their language and culture
Wow, that was very kind of the campsite owner and fuel station manager, what lovely people. We love travelling in France in the campervan. Usually it’s very relaxing - without the fuel shortages ☺️
What a lovely day spent wandering through that town. Those croissants looked delicious. The van and trailer wasn’t for slowing down was it, bit of a squeaky bum moment 😅
A beautiful tour of far northern France, your croissants and flat-bread "pizza" looked delicious, a near miss, and fuel shortages and you leave us hanging in suspense. Again, thank you for this lovely video.
I have the same car, but not the same camping interior. we had problems with condensation in the beginning but now when we pull the window down a little the problem is gone. the wind protection keeps rain out. Good luck with your travels which are nice to watch.
Super impressed with the French Carol it must make it easier when shopping ….. Lovely calm parkups …I can see us putting weight on with the food shops lol Blimey that was a near miss with the trailer Great episode of French touring hopefully with a full tank
Thanks, yes feeling quite confident now with understanding the French. Need more practice with speaking ☺️ The pastries are hard to resist so be warned 😋
Thanks for taking us around Hazebrouck, a lovely town. One of those places I've pasted but never stopped. I will next time. Carol, I loved your answer when Ken noticed the young ladies in the shop window, but to be honest I think he was more interested in the cakes and pastries 🤣 🥐🥐
Ken you cheered my hubby up! We are both just hitting middle age and he's worried about his changing eye sight. I told him Ken flips his glasses down from his head to read and then pops them back! X
We may said some exclamatory swears at the tight fit! As we were watching, we discussed how un-French Hazebrouke looked. It reminded us of Belgium. Then it Googled it! A cliffhanger! You rotters! 😂
Omg that would be a tricky situation to be in, no fuel. Wow. Gosh some of those roads are so narrow, and Carol when that vehicle with the trailer was coming towards you I was moving in my seat waiting for it to scrape your mirrors or car. Felt for you. Cheers Judy from Australia
I don't think I would want my childrens play stuff in the same space as my cow as in the one farm you drove by. To much chance of my daughter getting into a cow pie lol
Nice bit of French Carol. Beautiful church and stained glass windows. Like the sound of the croissants 🥐. 😂 Round 2. Oh no. Fuels all gone after that long que😩
Hari OM I swear I could taste those pastries with you! Was that a wee touch of range anxiety starting to creep in there? Can we wait a whole week to find out if you make it??? YAM xx
Hey guys wow that was a close one with the trailer ! Wow no fuel in so many places !! We haven’t come across this yet and really hope we don’t need to! Hope you have a great weekend Chelsea and Mike
Blimey...We'd have been on tenterhooks in that queue for fuel. With our luck, we would have been the ones reaching the pump as the fuel ran out. Thank the lird it lastest out for you 😮🐕🚙
Another Sunday morning watching the little Red camper tales & have to say that was a close encounter withvthe van & trailer 😮😮 the little feast looked very tasty 😋 now then the question is did ya get fuel or didn't ya 🤔very relaxing entertaining vlog as always...hope all ok with you both & you survived the crap weather on Saturday?
Hi Ken Carol, that food looks delicious I can’t spell what ever you are eating but my good it looked good,,Ken how many miles has the little red van done now hell that was close it what you call hold your breath lol ,I hoped you managed to get fuel if not who pushing and who steering?, shortage of diesel ⛽️ let’s hope you manage to get some trust the garage to run out just as you get there, great blog so interesting such beautiful places on your journey, till next time take care and keep safe,John ⛽️⛽️⛽️🌹🍓🤫🫣😩🙏🤔👍
hi, me and her indoors, love your channel, your content is great, keep up the good work, question what microphone do you use ?? You sound crisp and clear .. many thanks john
Nope I’m not superstitious! You did leave us on a bit of a cliffhanger! But obviously you got home to tell the tale and edit this great video. Til next time, Mary
Hi both, No I'm not superstitious. I just have always believed that if a thing can go wrong it will go wrong🙄. Although thirtyfive years ago a lorry ploughed into my motorcycle and they told me afterwards I shouldn't have survived so maybe I have a guardian Angel. Got my arm nearly completely chopped off but no major blood vessels were severed so they just sewed it all back together. That would be my luck though. To be in the middle of another country and run out of fuel only to find they had a fuel shortage. 🤔 Beautiful architecture in that Church and interesting to see quite a lot of the construction was brickwork and not Masonry as such. Safe travels. Bruin out. 🐻
How did you learn French Carol? I’m just about to try Babbel and Rosetta Stone apps. Also tried Duo Lingo, but got fed up with that one. Hope the pump didn’t run out! X
Started with the Duolingo free app with annoying ads. Switched to a paid subscription with Babbel but got through the levels so quickly I decided to pay for Duolingo. Now in my 4th year. It is very repetitive but that helps with burning it into your subconscious so the words just come automatically without too much thinking. Good luck with your learning 🙂
We too managed to combine arrival in France with a tanker driver strike. The Froggies love a good strike! Any pumps open limited you to 20l, amazed how honest they were, and we were re that each. We got so good at it that leaving France 2 weeks later we left with a full tank!!!😁😁😁
Sorry for 2 comments, the other comment was an impulsive comment in the middle of the video. I don’t know if the strike curtails your travels, not knowing how long it lasted. Would be inclined to complain that He who Shall Not Be Named fills the newspapers with article after article that cannot be combined into a larger piece with multiple contributors using the current standard of journalism. That may be true but during the summer I am exploring the countryside with the youngest grandchildren and we have done a good amount of tent camping while I wait for the completion of my van/bus build. I will readily admit that when we are in the backcountry of Michigan with a couple of kids, my leisure time for a cup of tea and a bite of something and a quiet time to read the NYTimes has often been replaced with requests for pancakes and can we go swimming/paddle boarding/to the Arcade/to town after we eat fills the campsite. Quickly followed by Why do we have to shower when we are camping/I had a bath yesterday in the lake/I am not dirty (says pigpen) and WE HAVE TO DO CHORES?!? It is very likely that I had not checked the News for a couple of weeks. I am confident that you got fuel as the Embassy would have seen to it, if nothing else, but you might have decided that you were not enjoying the drama of not knowing where you might be heading tomorrow and headed home with an allotted 5 gallons each day to limp home. A smart person would check and discover how long the strike lasted and comment with a more educated guess but -hey. I retired. My brain thinks it can do the same. What does it know? Great video! I enjoy all of your videos but my desire to visit France adds an extra layer of curiosity to the mix and I love this video! Thank you for including us in all of your travels! I might have a line on a Girl Friday or two who will work with you on the calendar and package and ship them but the shipping would originate from Albuquerque (NM, USA) and I haven’t a clue what your followers location mix is. It could cost more or less, depending. Thanks again!!! R
Sounds like you have your hands full with the grandkids. They will certainly have some happy memories of their summer holidays. We are thinking we may go down the digital route with the calendar or just photos but thanks for thinking of us. Hope your van build is going well. Take care 🙂
Beignet Pomme? I have no French, though I recognize some ingredients. Would that be what Americans might call an Apple Fritter? If it is, what would be the equivalent in the UK?
I always loved French at school and studied it to ‘A’ level (age 18). I took it up again seriously about 4 years ago and was amazed at how much I remembered ☺️

You are both very relaxing to watch.
Thank you 😊
