My man ended up custom making my ring since I’m such an unconventional girl and thought diamonds were just way too cliché! I would have wanted a video much more than photos. Being able to relive it and pay more attention to everything going on during the moment would be so awesome.
A video would be cool too, but I'm just glad my fiancé thought to get one of the Disney photographers so the pictures were great quality! It all happened pretty fast so I don't think anyone had time to react and we were alone there, so we didn't have friends ready to film. It's okay though, we're going to have a videographer at the wedding to capture everything! :-)

*CONGRATULATIONS!* what a gr8 proposal story, I love elaborate proposals and weddings as long as I don’t have to participate😉. our proposal went like this: we’re on the phone, been together 7yrs (didn’t live together, uber Catholic parents/fam🙄), discussing should we sell both our condos & buy a house after marriage, or just sell one, pay off total mortgage and live in condo. I said “we should just get married now, sell your condo, be mortgage free & save up huge down payment 4 house” he sez “was that a proposal?” I said “sure!”. We called our parents & siblings that night. A close friend of mine is a jeweler, she found a *perfect* vintage (1920s) engagement ring 4 me + hubs got a #sweet deal! (connections lol). I wear the wedding band I inherited frm my grandmother. I bought *his* band frm another jeweler I know, who specializes in LBGTQ jewelry - *huge* variety of men’s bands! After the required 11mos of premarital counseling by our Priest (you haven’t lived till you’ve spent an hour getting counseled by a Priest abt *SEX* 😳) we had an immediate family + our respective *best friends* small Wedding Mass. We sent out formal marriage announcements afterwards - specifically requesting *no gifts* suggesting a charity instead. (we *STILL* got some gifts🤷♀️) We never did buy a house - we’re pretty in love w the whole “no mortgage” thing, and we fit perfectly into my(*OUR*) 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo.🥰 #15yrs *so far, so good* 💖
Nope not weird at all! We did the same. We looked at rings 2-3 times together. I picked out a couple rings, narrowed it down to my exact ring and kept my fiancé in check on sticking to/below the budget. Now I absolutely love mine (and my husband 😊) and other friends who thought it was strange now talk about what they would change on their rings because they didn’t want to look ahead of time. 😒 It’s worth doing because you’ll wear it for life.😊

Came here from the wedding horror story. I enjoyed the story but also felt awful for all of you for going through all of that. I am 44. This December is my 20th anniversary. Weddings absolutely bring out the best and worst in people. I dont think there has ever been a wedding that didnt have some drama - some more than others. I hope, for you, people don't catch you off guard with their behavior. For me, it was the final straw in cutting off a life ling friend who is a pathological liar - she tried to pull so much crap I could never write it here. My maid of honor planned my very small and simple shower herself and each girl was to pay her $$, and show up to help on the day of - only half the party ever paid the $75 that was their share. I had to micro manage 5 out of 7 girls. My cousin (whose wedding I spent every penny I had for, I wore a dress that made me look as atrocious as I'd ever looked, I was the only one helping but she treated me like I wasn't even there and on and on) backed out of my wedding because we weren't doing plus ones for people who werent in established relationships- she started dating a guy 3 months before the wedding and thought he should be invited (not one person in our family had even met him yet) I told her that if someone RSVP'd that they couldnt come, they said he could come. Because he didnt get invited immediately (2 weeks later he wouldve been) she backed out. On and on. Even the people we believe will be the best in a wedding party go crazy. It was insane. I hope, for your sake, it all goes smoothly and beautifully!!!! Congratulations on your engagement.
So sorry you had to go through the drama as well! I agree, it's very hard to avoid. I'm hoping to keep my wedding as calm as possible, and I made sure my bridesmaids were my oldest friends and my siblings haha, so hopefully that works! Thank you so much!
@@TheNightOwl1212 I hope it does. All but 1 of mine were oldest friends and family, sadly it takes just 1 bad apple to spoil the whole shabang. I truly hope you are one of the rare ones. I do have to say, aside from some drama with my liar friend, my wedding day was perfect. I gave the bridesmaids and groomsmen all 1-2 very easy and specific jobs and exactly when they needed to be done on the day which saved me worrying about who was doing what and I knew it would all get done - literally the simplest things like 1 guy had to light the unity candles, two had to hand out sparklers to guests as they left the church, two had to light the sparklers before we walked out etc... it made it all perfect and I didnt ask for help until the day of so everyone was eager to please. I do have to say, aside from very very wealthy families, I have never been in or involved in a wedding where the bridesmaids didnt just make the choice to either do their own hair or to pay for it, I understand if the bride has a vision for styles, but it would definitely cut down on stress not to make demands about that. All my girls and I drove 45 minutes to my salon together and everyone but 1 decided to pay for their hair and we all had an amazing time together at the salon including the girl who did her own hair. I told them to do their hair however they wanted because I felt like they were already wearing my picks so some personality was fine with me and it worked out beautifully. I give one piece of advice to every and any bride I encounter so I will share it with you - hope that's ok. What I did was I aimed to have every single detail worked through, gone over, assigned by the week before. At the rehearsal I went over each thing with each person and answered any questions about their assignments (I emailed each person their assignment previously but wanted to be double sure they remenbere and understood) and made sure everyone was clear. The minute we left the church to go to the rehearsal dinner I didnt have to think about another thing aside from getting ready and getting married. It made my night before and day of 100% stress free, I remember so much more of my wedding than any other bride I know because I didnt worry about anything because I had entrusted my people and I wanted to go through that night and day the way it was meant to be - all love and fun and 100% enjoyment. It was just that. I know so many brides who leave things to the last minute, have to worry anout tiny details the morning of or during and they always say how it was all a blur and they barely remember it a week later. Every year, I get to think about the day before and day and remember what I was doing with my girls, then the wedding (of course not just once a year but i make a point of it for our anniversary). After nearly 20 years some details have gotten foggy but I still remember so much and that is incredibly special. It wasnt all perfect. The florist didn't do my flowers how I wanted AT ALL and the photographer gave us some issues but by that point I could process small disappointments so much better because I wasnt a lunatic. In the end I wouldve liked those things not to have happened, but no one knew but me. I cannot tell you how many people told me that they had never seen a bride so happy and carefree at their wedding, how it was the best wedding they'd ever been to because of how calm it all was. I danced every dance and talked to everyone and never had a moment of stress. So it is the best advice I could give anyone. Better than who you pick, second only to marrying the right person lol. Be prepared, obsess, think it all through and assign what you might do yourself the day of... have the time of your life stress free and remember every moment!!! I wish you all the best in your planning and in your marriage!!!!
Better than my proposal my fiance practically screaed "marry me" because he was so nervous. Definitely memorable and i wet myself laughing about all the hints throughout the night. I wouldn't change a thing. Congratulations! Took a good 2 weeks to sink in for me!

*CONGRATULATIONS!* what a gr8 proposal story, I love elaborate proposals and weddings as long as I don’t have to participate😉. our proposal went like this: we’re on the phone, been together 7yrs (didn’t live together, uber Catholic parents/fam🙄), discussing should we sell both our condos & buy a house after marriage, or just sell one, pay off total mortgage and live in condo. I said “we should just get married now, sell your condo, be mortgage free & save up huge down payment 4 house” he sez “was that a proposal?” I said “sure!”.
We called our parents & siblings that night.
A close friend of mine is a jeweler, she found a *perfect* vintage (1920s) engagement ring 4 me + hubs got a #sweet deal! (connections lol). I wear the wedding band I inherited frm my grandmother. I bought *his* band frm another jeweler I know, who specializes in LBGTQ jewelry - *huge* variety of men’s bands!
After the required 11mos of premarital counseling by our Priest (you haven’t lived till you’ve spent an hour getting counseled by a Priest abt *SEX* 😳) we had an immediate family + our respective *best friends* small Wedding Mass.
We sent out formal marriage announcements afterwards - specifically requesting *no gifts* suggesting a charity instead. (we *STILL* got some gifts🤷♀️)
We never did buy a house - we’re pretty in love w the whole “no mortgage” thing, and we fit perfectly into my(*OUR*) 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo.🥰 #15yrs *so far, so good* 💖

Nope not weird at all! We did the same. We looked at rings 2-3 times together. I picked out a couple rings, narrowed it down to my exact ring and kept my fiancé in check on sticking to/below the budget. Now I absolutely love mine (and my husband 😊) and other friends who thought it was strange now talk about what they would change on their rings because they didn’t want to look ahead of time. 😒
It’s worth doing because you’ll wear it for life.😊

Came here from the wedding horror story. I enjoyed the story but also felt awful for all of you for going through all of that. I am 44. This December is my 20th anniversary. Weddings absolutely bring out the best and worst in people. I dont think there has ever been a wedding that didnt have some drama - some more than others. I hope, for you, people don't catch you off guard with their behavior. For me, it was the final straw in cutting off a life ling friend who is a pathological liar - she tried to pull so much crap I could never write it here. My maid of honor planned my very small and simple shower herself and each girl was to pay her $$, and show up to help on the day of - only half the party ever paid the $75 that was their share. I had to micro manage 5 out of 7 girls. My cousin (whose wedding I spent every penny I had for, I wore a dress that made me look as atrocious as I'd ever looked, I was the only one helping but she treated me like I wasn't even there and on and on) backed out of my wedding because we weren't doing plus ones for people who werent in established relationships- she started dating a guy 3 months before the wedding and thought he should be invited (not one person in our family had even met him yet) I told her that if someone RSVP'd that they couldnt come, they said he could come. Because he didnt get invited immediately (2 weeks later he wouldve been) she backed out. On and on. Even the people we believe will be the best in a wedding party go crazy. It was insane. I hope, for your sake, it all goes smoothly and beautifully!!!! Congratulations on your engagement.
So sorry you had to go through the drama as well! I agree, it's very hard to avoid. I'm hoping to keep my wedding as calm as possible, and I made sure my bridesmaids were my oldest friends and my siblings haha, so hopefully that works! Thank you so much!
@@TheNightOwl1212 I hope it does. All but 1 of mine were oldest friends and family, sadly it takes just 1 bad apple to spoil the whole shabang. I truly hope you are one of the rare ones. I do have to say, aside from some drama with my liar friend, my wedding day was perfect. I gave the bridesmaids and groomsmen all 1-2 very easy and specific jobs and exactly when they needed to be done on the day which saved me worrying about who was doing what and I knew it would all get done - literally the simplest things like 1 guy had to light the unity candles, two had to hand out sparklers to guests as they left the church, two had to light the sparklers before we walked out etc... it made it all perfect and I didnt ask for help until the day of so everyone was eager to please. I do have to say, aside from very very wealthy families, I have never been in or involved in a wedding where the bridesmaids didnt just make the choice to either do their own hair or to pay for it, I understand if the bride has a vision for styles, but it would definitely cut down on stress not to make demands about that. All my girls and I drove 45 minutes to my salon together and everyone but 1 decided to pay for their hair and we all had an amazing time together at the salon including the girl who did her own hair. I told them to do their hair however they wanted because I felt like they were already wearing my picks so some personality was fine with me and it worked out beautifully. I give one piece of advice to every and any bride I encounter so I will share it with you - hope that's ok. What I did was I aimed to have every single detail worked through, gone over, assigned by the week before. At the rehearsal I went over each thing with each person and answered any questions about their assignments (I emailed each person their assignment previously but wanted to be double sure they remenbere and understood) and made sure everyone was clear. The minute we left the church to go to the rehearsal dinner I didnt have to think about another thing aside from getting ready and getting married. It made my night before and day of 100% stress free, I remember so much more of my wedding than any other bride I know because I didnt worry about anything because I had entrusted my people and I wanted to go through that night and day the way it was meant to be - all love and fun and 100% enjoyment. It was just that. I know so many brides who leave things to the last minute, have to worry anout tiny details the morning of or during and they always say how it was all a blur and they barely remember it a week later. Every year, I get to think about the day before and day and remember what I was doing with my girls, then the wedding (of course not just once a year but i make a point of it for our anniversary). After nearly 20 years some details have gotten foggy but I still remember so much and that is incredibly special. It wasnt all perfect. The florist didn't do my flowers how I wanted AT ALL and the photographer gave us some issues but by that point I could process small disappointments so much better because I wasnt a lunatic. In the end I wouldve liked those things not to have happened, but no one knew but me. I cannot tell you how many people told me that they had never seen a bride so happy and carefree at their wedding, how it was the best wedding they'd ever been to because of how calm it all was. I danced every dance and talked to everyone and never had a moment of stress. So it is the best advice I could give anyone. Better than who you pick, second only to marrying the right person lol. Be prepared, obsess, think it all through and assign what you might do yourself the day of... have the time of your life stress free and remember every moment!!! I wish you all the best in your planning and in your marriage!!!!
