They do have. You can see it in places like Djibouti. But the french woodland-like camo fits better the local landscape colors. Plus as you can see in this video, dirts and dust mixed with the green camo make them morf with the surrounding bushes and trees.

But for Vietnam, French started not by getting kicked, mate: 1. French fought on a wider territory than did US in Nam (only south) 2. US initially approved the Vietnam Republic independance idea of Ho-Chi-Minh, but they changed their mind once China started to back the Vietminh

Oh last thing to back your point (proof that history never ends to repeat): when it was clear that the Dien Bien Phu situation was desesperate, we asked Ike's support to use nuke on the Vietminh. There even was a US plan for that, dont remember the name, but I think this consisted to give France 4 A-bombs. Well finally Ike refused, public opinion again. And the funny thing is that the very same option was considered during the US Nam war, by Nixon (who was Ike's V-P during 1st Vietnam war).

Afghanistan can not be won by abdonening the rules of engagement and using our full conventional warfare capacity for this is an enemy centric approach to combat, afghanistan must be fought..

War isn`t it intelligent and no one can rule the world only with guns alone. You must have the right ideas to rule the world, together.
