  • Despite already hard situations for the residents some have actually come to SWFL to scam and defraud taking advantage of the victims.

You are 100% correct when you say that we cannot depend on others to solve our problems during hardships. People who do not live here have no idea how many people are struggling due to this hurricane.
It's going to be long healing process.

Ohhh the great volunteers in my small town 40 miles north of Florida came to my rescue without asking!!! They bulldozed down trees and cleared my yard of a mountain of trees!! Another group cleaned up my stuff. We had volunteers with free meals all over town!! Yes I was too happy for help. Lots of good caring souls from other states helped

Good in depth detailed video on significant localized damage and criminal dumping. Going to take millions of dollars to update and upgrade each of those private communities infrastructures. Many will walk away from their property to be taken by the towns and counties, then to be sold at auction in a year or so, when everybody forgets about hurricane Ian. Very sad, but this happens all over, unless you have your own money to rebuild. Odd, the main media is not talking about how FEMA and what or how they are helping in Florida. Safe travels.

I feel blessed here in the area of Englewood where we live. No flooding in my hood but there was 10 solid hrs in the western wall. My pool cage was demolished, my privacy fence is history, and many lost shingles but no water damage. We really got lucky. No power for two weeks but my portable generator was able to run my fridges intermittently and we didn't even lose any food. I used the rec fuel from our boat when there were 5 hr lines at the few gas staions that were able to open. All around is destruction. People are hurting. It's going to be a long long time before it comes back.

Nothing compared to Northport or Ft Meyers. However we got a letter soooo concerned about our tree debris etc. They sent a very insulting letter demanding the replanting of trees. At 22.34 ... that's my house. Concrete pile was from a garden wall in the back that got damaged. Our patio roof was attached to it and got ripped apart during the storm. So we broke it apart and I hauled all that to the curb. Trash collection did pick it up. Thank God. Hurricane Ian was scary. And I do agree NP was overlooked and didn't get enough attention. The destruction was horrific. Like apocalyptic a few weeks after. An experience for the history books.

I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for anything like that. so I understand where you're coming from. people and companies just don't think they don't use their common sense. common courtesy and common Sense there's a lot of that being lacked. so I understand exactly what you're talking about and they should be held accounted for for it.

I survived a F4 tornedo back in 2003 living in KC. It took half of my house but thank God my basement saved my life. I had been divorced only a few weeks and my firstborn went off to war the same time frame to Iraq and I had started s new job. The stress on me was too much but I pressed on!!! Then 2013 I moved to Southwest Florida to retire early and live In my small but mighty cynder block home I bought at a foreclosure auction. In my town of Port Charlotte just 40min north of Ft Meyers it decided to take turn into my area!!! I was terrified but to evacuate with 1 million others was scarry also!! I filled my gas tank; got cash out of my bank and headed to North Port where my friends lived!!! For 10 hours the wind was sooo forceful and I drank wine like a whino and I don't drink!!! Lol. My friends died laughing when I brought along 3 life jackets just in case it flooded!!! When they saw water everywhere they no longer laughed!! After the water went down we went 7 miles to Port Charlotte to see my little home!! Back of my roof was partially gone. My shed was no where to be found; my new white vinal fence was gone and my yard was a mile high of down trees!!! I said " ohh it's bad but no big deal because it will be better than before just wait n see!!!". I told people stop crying and moaning we are lucky fools !! We are alive and this crap can be replaced!! A crew of Florida disaster volunteers asked if they could clear my trees!! A new roof is going to be added this week so it's coming together slowly!! But the debri is unbelieveable here. I told my son I refuse to visit California because my luck a earthquake comes!! Lol

The attention on North Port is not being neglected. If you ever have followed a FEMA truck, you would understand why it SEEMS to be taking so long. The debris needing to be cleared is immense and the removal trucks are working as fast as they can. Patience is a virtue, try exercising it. No one but YOU is responsible for what happens to YOU.

I don't understand what help they expect from others on their own personal property, they have insurance or should have but it is expensive in FLORIDA and it's now gonna get worse, especially for flood insurance. Just look anywhere in the country when someone's house catches fire, other than the FD who comes to help rebuild or find temporary lodgings, no one and this is just one house out of tens of thousands of home so there's no stretched resources like there is after a hurricane so why should a hurricane be different? Sure it sucks but everyone knew it could happen and likely would happen as climate naturally changes as we exited the Little Ice Age and head to the next warming period.

yea the video is not as good, maybe there is a way to reset it completely like when it was new, sort of wipe it clean and start over maybe that will do it, maybe not. but, its still not terrible as it is

Thank you 🙏 we was forgotten about.!
You must not be from here originally 🤣🤦it's the way you said "Mayaka" is what gave it away 🤣🤣🤣 Red cross was in the area and FEMA has only helped a every few also the military was out helping people, feed the hungry was in the area as well..
But I can agree with the community being ridiculous 🤦 scum bags complain about so much like simple things like internet for example but yet no one wants to get out and help the community by checking on them or help cleaning it up. It's ridiculous 🤦 North Port people is ridiculous. What I don't get is people buy these houses and then get mad when they are destroyed 🤣🤦 I mean we are right by the water so idk what they expected when they bought the house to began with 🤣🤦🤣🤦🤦🤦 this is Florida people this is not our first hurricane 🤦

When you talk about the community helping each other you have to remember that this is a very red state who's motto is personal responsibility. In other words it's every person for themselves. That doesn't foster community or assistance for their neighbors.

Disagree. You'll always meet people who are willing to help and others who would rather keep to themselves. Liberal or conservative.
