  • Time to do some rigging! I have made several trips out on the Solo Skiff and can see that I need some rod holders and a few other things. I busted out all my YakAttack gear and got to work. Check out the results.

    Hey bro, I have my jonny boats bass 100. She's gonna be my 1st and last vessel. Love it. I have my 2.5 hp suzuki, I diy'd the small 30lb thrust Minn-kotaoff her bow. I also added the scotty outriggers. Just an FYI. Scotty has these stainless steel screws with a rubber seal. They're incredible. No leaks no silicone. If you watch Marty install the scotty outriggers, those well nuts are in that video. Even the legend was impressed. Lol..check them out, unless you've already found them. Be safe bro..

    Ty, thanks for sharing your mods. Just got my skiff for Christmas. I put mighty mounts on both sides ( right down to the Starbrite Silicone ) and my Tohatsu 6hp showed up the other day! Man I’m ready to go.
    Bless you and Theresa and happy fishing in 2020. Hope to be posting solo skiff videos myself soon. My wife said she is not getting on the front of the skiff though. Thanks for sharing.

    Nice setup. It's a good thing you pointed out trying it inside of the skiff before you start drilling. I love Yak Attack products. I have their tracks all over my 2016 Outback. Their Omega Pro rod holders are awesome. I still get nervous whenever I drill into my kayaks. I check at least 5 times before I start drilling. I look forward to seeing what else you do to the Solo Skiff.

    i think you'll like the hobie h-rails if you add them on, acts as a handle and lots of room for mounting rods, paddle and other things plus if you go over board it's a good handle to pull you back in. my buddy has it on his solo skiff and it's pretty cool.

  • @mr.ginger6012
    @mr.ginger6012 Před 4 lety +1

    I don't own one personally but I've seen a lot of solo skiffs with the Hobie H-Rails that seem to open up a lot of rigging options. And they have a natural curve that seems to go along perfect with the Skiff.

    You might want to consider an anchor trolley for your drift sock so you can control your angle of attack on drifts.

    Should look into getting a outboard kicker motor mount it will push your motor back more towards he Stern like a typical boat give you more room and alot more adjustability for fishing deeper water or in inches of water if you choose

  • @seancurley7954
    @seancurley7954 Před 4 lety +2

    Get a couple 8 inch extentions to get them a little higher and dryer.

  • @branev3753
    @branev3753 Před 4 lety +1

    You need to add extensions to those rod holders. Those reels are going to get soaked being that far back and that low. I have mine farther forward (mounted to the Boonedox) with the extensions and they still get wet at times.

    Nice video, You and a few others are making me shop for one as I speak. Curious if you or anybody has ever considered adding a retro pedal drive like H2pro drive? Would be a nice backup to an outboard breakdown as well as a leg powered trolling motor so you're hands free. Thoughts?

  • @jimbeauxjimenez1850
    @jimbeauxjimenez1850 Před 4 lety +1

    I added a grab bar to stand up on and lean on since I don't have my balance yet. Plus, the Ram Mount roller ball holder has a better grip on my yak attack push pole than the yak attack paddle holder so no need to torque it. Thx Ty and great video.

    Hey Ty, looking good, Need to get a 2'' skiff lift transom mount. It gives you a little lift to run a little shallower, and helps protect that transom. I have one on mine and its awesome.

    @austinmatthews1866 Před rokem +1

    How long did you have this solo skiff? Whats the main reason you got rid of it? If you had to choose the 2016 hobie outback or skiff for everyday, what would you choose and why?

    • @30mofishing
      @30mofishing  Před rokem

      no solo any more. great boat. id get what the folks I fish with have. if u have a solo u will be solo unless a few friends have solos. if ur friends have yaks and you have a solo they can't follow u and if they do u can't pole the solo as quick as a hobie will pedal. I just say use what the folks u fish with use. or just get a boat a couple folks can go on with you . unless you fish solo then the solo skiff is perfect.

      We do anchor a good bit. Usually with stake out pole. The drift sock let’s u cover lots of water and find fish. Drifting flats is a big thing here in south Texas.

    A single, fixed, GoPro mount in front? Keep it as simple as possible. Those will be tight quarters for two. Please be careful. A 1/0 jig makes a very ugly earring.
