That little thing is pretty sweet! You could always put your on drain plug in where you want
So glad you did this it’s the only review I could find and now I’m sold!
Glad to help!
Looked fun can’t wait to get out there and catch some reds
I'm so close to pulling the trigger on one since the Solo Skiffs are unavailable but this video is what keeps me from buying. Seeing that aft end just buried in the water. It looks like it's struggling. I watch videos of the soloskiff and it always looks up on plane with the aft section pretty dry.
Mission accomplished Ty it got my "juices flowin" lol
Genial Man. Saludos desde ARGENTINA
Nice boat and some nice fish
Mike and Ty what a combo..
Those Hero's be nice buddy like a kayak on steroids and affordable too!👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Sure is steep pricing for what's basically a kayak without a drive so really should be kayak pricing. Around 1000-1200 seems reasonable. They also really missed the mark not doing rod holder holes that go into the bow like a pro angler.Seen that warping top and it's never seen water so that's definitely worrisome especially after heavy use i bet it tacos pretty quickly
Just purchased a hoo doo hero 130 limetruse. Throwing a 3.5 hp on like you said. About to tear them fishes up. Galveston +Freeport here i come!!
How has it been? I’m in Galveston area as well and thinking about one of these heros
Did yours come with minicell foam inside hull? I keep seeing it during unboxing videos, but I recently purchased one and didn't have it.
You can add a round hatch to the front.
Nice!
Goos stuff ty, how was the movability for one person from truck to water?
at 100 lbs its just like a bigger kayak. u can move it super easy if u take off motor.
Thinking of replacing my pedal yak with this. But I'm curious how you maneuver this without the motor. I'm assuming you're using the motor to get out to your location. Once you are fishing what are you using to move around? I'm assuming paddle, in which case is it a standup paddle or kayak paddle? Figure this would be perfect for rivers which is where I fish mostly. No need to have a truck pick me up at take out or use a shuttle. Just drift down and motor back up!
I’d use stand up paddle board paddle or a push pole
Nice boat
Aloha Ty, how does it compare to your Solo Skiff. The one con to me of a Solo Skiff is the weight 150 lbs. I really appreciate your honesty in the review, you were not bought by HOODOO. I like the motor mount, lighter weight, and even the more compact size compared to my Solo Skiff. If I had this skiff the first thing I'd do is install a forward 4" round screw lid hatch between the grab handle and fish box just so I can sponge the inner hull of any water. Mahalo nui Ty.
aloha ! the solo is a slicker more solid made boat. but like u said its 150 and needs a trailer. this guy is the wight of a lot of yaks. chunk it in the back of the truck easy!
@@30mofishing Aloha Ty, another observation you made I liked was that this Hero 130 would work fine with a 2.5hp outboard. When I bought my Solo Skiff I already had a 2.5hp Suzuki as well as a 3hp Tanaka which I run on my square stern canoe. These motors felt anemic on the heavy Solo Skiff hull so I felt I had to purchase a higher hp motor. I got a 6hp Tohatsu which puts the Solo on plane, no problem. If the Hero 130 was available 3 years ago it would have saved me initial hull purchase price as well as the cost of a trailer, and a higher hp motor. I have a bum back which required 4 surgeries which limits my lifting capacity, so the one time I tried truck-bedding my Solo was my first, and last time. Mahalo again for your honesty in your great reviews. Keep up the great work! Aloha a hui hou.
Were can you buy the grab/leaning bar for the HERO 130?
Hobie made that one. mariner-sails.com sells that one. they also see a yak gear version.
Lots of flex in the improvised lean-post/grab-rail. A plus or minus? Without molded-in rod holders, the accessory rails could get crowded. No trim adjustment on the 5 hp engine?
no flex on rail. not an improv. its a Hobie rail that goes in the gear tracks. I love it on that boat. folds forward out of way. if u trim up motor u have to go straight. if u turn prop will hit Side walls of the back deck cut out.
@@30mofishing Actually, I was thinking of trimming the engine in the other direction. Adjusting to the "one less than vertical" position ( towards the stern ) helps keep the bow in the water
without a tiller extension or a passenger in front. Our old 4 HP Mariner ( Yamaha ) has that position available, but it might it not be a common feature in other outboards.
power trím tilt in new 5 hp oútbsrd
What was the other boat? Bote? Do you have a link about that one too?
Boat Rover
😏😏
When I finish my homemade skiff 🤔🤔
I would like to get together with you to compare them !!🤔🤔🤔
Homemade Vs Production
Whattttttttttttttttt !!!! 🎣🎣🎣
I am concern about the flimsy seat area ....Has anyone else tried this? Does it come with the lean bar or was that added in the shop? Thank you
yea.. id put cutting board on the seat area to make it a bit tougher... the bar is a Hobie or yakattack add on
What model of Gheenoe is being used in the video?
classic 15'4"
Aloha Ty. If I got this skiff first thing I'd do is install a 4" screw-on lid 4 access hatch between the bow handle and forward built-in cooler just for the purpose of sponging out any water that sneaks in there. I'd also run my 2.5 hp Suzuki which weighs in at 30 lbs. as opposed to my 6 hp Tohatsu which is double that at 60 lbs. I already own a Solo Skiff going on 3 years, but I suffer from a chronic back condition, and it only gets worse the older I get. I'd get rid of the Solo Skiff, and trailer, and just throw this Hero 130 into my truck bed, something I tried once and failed at with my Solo Skiff. 100 lbs. vs 150 lbs. just the hull alone sounds great. Mahalo for a great review, and observations.
How much with the H rail and a 3 hp, and where?
call mike at the shop he will know for sure.
Between bote rover and hoodoo hero which one was more comfortable and stable tracks better?
Rover but it’s a lot more. More fragile also
What’s your thoughts on fishing around the harbor 1-3ft swells which would be better value to purchase between bote rover or hoodoo 130? I really like the solo skiff there not production.
Dope!
Like the gheenoe too u think that hoodoo work with bug dude and dog
No sir.
I GOT A LOT OF QUESTIONS...
Can't you just buy an aftermarket drain plug for it?
Maybe it was a MFG oversight?
Throw a sponge in the center hatch.. BAM!
Did you try trimming the motor in on the bottom to bring the nose down?
Did you try just steering by pushing the hand rail left and right?
What was your top speed?
there is no info on this yak yet. u know what we know. it ran about 15 if I had to guess.
@@30mofishing ty you have owned a solo skiff.. might still own it.. havent seen much since the freeze and carolina skiff in / out .. can you do that comparison?
Do you like the solo or the hoodoo the best
id have to choose the hoodoo in hind sight. solo needed a trailer. super heavy... the hoodoo is 100lbs . put it in the truck bed and go easy.
Will my 225LB frame/butt bend the conduit
I’d try it first.
water is NOT supposed to get water in.. the only way to get water into it is thru the center hatch.. so if you roll it.. you will need to up end it and slosh i back and forth to get it out let it dry etc.. similar to the solo skiff
What is "crab walks"?
Sitting on edge of yak sideways and walking on ground with feet. Crab walking !
Ton of used ones for sale around me 2500 with motor
Looks just like a Solo Skiff
but cost more then the solo.. 1800 for solo.. 2000 for hoodoo? maybe it comes with the aluminum transom.. which is extra on the solo.. but only 100 or so.. so thinner hull and 100.00 more then the solo.. but lighter.. not sure i would go with that.. i loved my solo skiff.
no doubt the solo skiff is the design to beat
Solo is now 2400
Nice catch! I’m having a hard time to buy hoodoo hero 130 or scout 130 inflatable which one would you recommend?
So it’s a solo skiff?
A thin lighter solo skiff
They need to handle a 9.9hp!
buy polycraft 3 metér bóàt ór veer x¹3
This is a zero kayak skiff straight from china
With a 1200 dollar mark up
good eye sir
Looks like a solo skiff knock off.
Solo skiff is a knockoff of powerfisha 14 just rotomolded and weighs more
@@wheelgun5102 and made in the USA
Solo was invented in 2012. Powerfisha came after
Original solo was fiberglass I believe
@@OceanicPursuit I don’t remember the soloskiff being fiberglass. Maybe.
This video is about some dude. Wish it was about a micro skiff.
Seems sketchy
Leave those poor inshore fish alone and go beyond the breakers or something.
all were released
