While visiting Portugal in January, I was struck by just what you're saying. Politics is not part of their daily lives. We loved it so much that we are getting out of the US where we have lived for 60 years. We move next fall, before the election here.

I’m an avid viewer in the UK of what’s happening in the US. It’s a three ring circus right now. The UK isn’t much better politically, but it’s just stuffy and uninteresting.

I was going to let my initial comment stand, working under the 'short but sweet' theory, but after viewing this particular rant I am unable to restrain just a little fan-gushing- for which I would like to apologize in advance.
Thank you, for your encouragement to GET OUT of this Clockwork Orange version of the country I was brought up in. I lost my husband earlier this year; we were of a similar mind on that in our 20 years together and since he has been gone, I seem to have been semi paralyzed on EVERY decision and in every direction.
You reminded me, of where we - where I - really want to be, and I cannot thank you enough. 🙏🤗

We spent a week in Ontario and Quebec. A country of beautiful people, inside and out. Hated coming back to the US afterwards.

I really understand how you feel Lewis. Twice I've lived and worked out of the country and loved every minute of it. Now I'm almost 80 and I can't possibly build the energy to relocate to another country, even as close as Central America. I really wish I could.I fought for this country and have voted in every election since I was 21 but now, I am ashamed to claim that I'm an american. In france I told a girl that I was american and she just said, "Oh, I'm so sorry." That's the reaction we get in other countries. By the way, I'm half Irish and would give my left arm and my eye teeth to be able to move there. I've found claiming to be a Canadian gets less sympathy.

Hey Lewis, I'm 76 and at Christmas / New Years I start thinking about term papers and final exams (that I don't have to do any more).
I liked Italy because there are new buildings next to 2000 year old buildings , as you liked Ireland.

Well, I'm disappointed you aren't coming to Chicago. We have a lot of rants to many to mention here. This dam covid thing is pissing me off how many dam shots do we need? I feel like I'm in an episode of the twilight zone.
the problem wth yelling at the cashier is that this is NOT her/his decision to ask. Yell at the manager, not the poor cashier who is forced to asking for a donation. and as for Hillsborough county FL, you are right. The whole state is going down the shithole... I live here.. I still like the warm winters though, so I just have to swallow it and get out in the sunshine.
Being of dual Irish decent I will never be able to visit my ancestral lands because I am an American and will never have the funds to do so….have to satisfy my longings with Britbox and Acorn 😢
