    One thing that I rarely hear talked about when it comes to EDC guns is the fact that it’s going to be confiscated following a self-defense shooting. It should only be temporarily, but I’ve heard stories about it sometimes taking forever, and some where they never get it back. Just something to keep in mind before you drop too much money on a really expensive carry gun.

    • @oilyque
      @oilyque Před 8 měsíci +143

      The biggest thing is having something reliable and that you are skilled with. Whether is budget friendly or not. When it comes to defending your life or family I bet the cost won't be an issue to you at the time. Even if you had a budget carry and an expensive fun gun once the budget one is gone you are on to the expensive one anyway.

    • @jonquirk9582
      @jonquirk9582 Před 8 měsíci +119

      It won't always be confiscated. And even if it is, my life is worth far more to me, than a 500 or even 2000 dollar pistol. Guns are replaceable, people are not.

      I definitely think its something to keep in mind, however, I ultimately think John from ASP probably has the best view of it. His view is that if you used it and survived, its done its job. Carry the best gun you can for you, worry about replacing later, pray you never have to worry about it in the first place

    The Shield Plus 4” Performance Center has become my go-to and it made me part ways with my most of my other carry guns. The trigger is solid (not mind-blowing, but solid) and carrying it with the 15 round mag makes me feel pretty well-protected. The thinness of it makes the extra grip-length a non-issue with concealibility because it can’t stick out very far regardless. Planning on whittling my carry guns down to just that, the M&P 5”, and Glock 45.

      @Scientist_Salarian Před 8 měsíci +4

      Same for me and the G26. I have a bunch of other CCW guns, but I shoot the ol’ 26 best. The thicker grip with the extended 12-round Magpul mag allows me to draw and fire decidedly more accurately than my smaller guns. Unfortunately, it’s just a bit too large for concealment under a t-shirt from late spring to mid fall (for my body shape/size). But if I can only grab one, my 26 is it.

    • @richdouche8253
      @richdouche8253 Před 8 měsíci +1

      The G19 and G26 really are hard to argue against. The G19 being just small enough to conceal in most cases, and having great capacity... And the G26 being even easier to conceal and yet shooting very accurate for it's size. I really can't tell any difference in recoil with it versus the G17, and for a guy with very large hands, I shoot the G26 tighter. Both great carry options. It's one thing to have a smaller gun that conceals well, and another thing entirely to ALSO have a gun you feel confident actually fighting with it.

    I’m a big fan of the P365XL configuration. The original 365 is just too small unless I wanted a single finger grip backup gun. The XL is perfect in the “just barely large enough but still very concealable”
    Honestly I’d have bought the macro if it had been out at the time but I don’t mind the XL.

    • @tomarmstrong4761
      @tomarmstrong4761 Před 8 měsíci +1

      There's a P365XL in our inventory, too. I want to like it better, but a) it's a little narrow for my meathook hands, and b) my wife commandeered it because of what we have, it's the one she can do best on administrative handling (i.e. racking the slide, field strip for cleaning, etc.).
      I'm quite fond of my P07--enough so that I have a P09 as a home defense piece. The DA/SA trigger is what got me less uncomfortable about carrying with a round in the chamber.
      Frankly, I find the CZ PCR even better for me.

I would promise the driver I wouldn’t skate until it was set. Puck wouldn’t travel wet anyways I would tell him. We would sit at bus stops and watch our spit freeze on the side of buildings. Bus stops were near buildings usually to give us some wind cover if they could. When the bus stops were in the open we would build snowforts/dugouts for fun and to warm up in, took turns. I’ve had various carry guns over the years from M&P 9C, Gen 1 Shield, CZ P01, CZ PCR. I carry at 3 o’clock as appendix has never felt right. I swapped to the original 365 with 12 round mags over a year ago due to back issues and needing something small and light. Best thing I ever did. I shoot it well and can put it on in the morning and forget it’s there all day regardless if I’m in and out of my truck visiting clients and construction sites, stepping into meetings, or just sitting at my desk. It’s stupid comfortable. I also carry a second 12 round mag with MagGuts holding 14 rounds. That’s 27 rounds rounds on me at all times. Don’t see any reason to ever change.

    I also carry appendix but I got a glock48 so I put a striker control device on it for holstering purposes. I honestly feel that all striker fired guns designed for carry should come with a striker control device already installed in them. Majority of NDs are during the holstering process and this is such a cheap and simple fix to nearly guarantee you won’t have a ND when holstering.

    For me it was the 43x and it's solely because I got bear paws for hands so that extra grip was so nice for me. If I had smaller hands I would probably went a different route though.
    But I think it's great we as consumers are so spoiled with EDC options now. Wasn't always like this.
    Even my more liberal family members are getting CCW permits and ask me for recommendations. I just take them to the store and have them hold and dry fire a bunch of guns and tell them to buy the one that feels the best in their hand.

    I have shot a lot of handguns since 1986, but there is only one brand I use when my life depends on it and that is Glock.
    I have used handguns in the military, in law enforcement and off duty/civilian,
    My concealed carry now is a Glock 29 Gen 5 and it is an amazing concealed gun that will never fail you and since it is a 10mm and I use max loads, does it very quickly neutralize the threat.
    I have experienced the difference between a 9mm and a 10mm in real situations and I am NEVER going to go back to 9mm.
    But I do understand that the 10mm with max loads is not for all.
    It is better to hit well with a 9mm than to miss or hit poorly with a 10mm.

Also the 7a light gives me a stand off point so if someone was on top of me and I had to get it out and shoot, the light will hopefully keep their gut from pushing my slide out of battery!

The deciding factors for me was the smooth angles on the PX4 while the PO7 has sharper angles with less slide to grab, the rotating barrel lessens the recoil, the trigger is great, really accurate and especially the fact that through the Covid shortage, Beretta did a great job stocking all parts for a decent price.

    I'm shorter with small fingers so I like to carry the most: 1)P365, 2)Shield Plus 3.1", 3)P365XL, & 4)PC Shield Plus 4" ported barrel. All carried IWB @ 3:30 in a Clinger 2-clip tuckable Holster w/comfort pad so carrying all day is easy. And I am more accurate with the Shield's as well as the grip module, sights, & trigger needs no upgrading, as do the Sigs.
